We've been coming to Five Little Monkeys in Burlingame for well over a decade for their fun, unique toys. Prices range from fair to high, selection is abundant. Though our kids are much older now, we love to stop in for blind boxes, collectibles, and to scratch the incessant NeeDoh itch. Parking is almost always a challenge, given the area. Weekend visits require serious patience. The store can get shoulder-to-shoulder packed with large strollers in narrow aisles and tiny tots having very big feelings whose parents are doing what they can to regulate, some more than others, so there are def moments of chaos. As a momma who had 2 under 2 at one point, I've been there and hella get it. For my own sanity, we aim for off-peak visits to peruse in peace. As you can imagine, service is more attentive when the staff:customer ratio is more manageable. But the last couple visits, it's been fairly quiet in the store yet no greeting upon my entering, nor a welcoming vibe upon checking out at the register. So much so that I didn't bother to have them do the customary complimentary gift wrap for all the presents I picked out for my youngest. It was such a bummer to leave feeling icky for what is normally one of my happy places, especially as a long standing customer. read more

Thank you to the team at five little monkeys who handled the Needoh drop last week so well. The manager Michelle and her staff even helped my daughter who was having blood sugar issues in line. They really worked to support their customers and uphold the integrity of the event despite MANY obstacles that were not their fault. I was super impressed. A treasure trove for all kids - my son was so excited to be here and to look through the various assortment of toys they have to offer here. They also have a train model set up in the middle of the store so the kids can actually distract themselves by playing with the trains while the adults continue their shopping. The store itself isn't super big but there is a lot to look through. We ended up leaving with some jars of slime, a mini steel drum, and some sticker earrings. This place is not the cheapest - I did a quick price comparison of some other stuff I was considering buying and it was at least $10 cheaper if I were to purchase it via an online retailer. But the benefit here is supporting a small, local business. read more

We were intrigued by the name when visiting Burlingame, so decided to venture in. No greeting when entering the store or throughout browsing for 20 minutes. During our time there, no one was at the register checking out and only one or two other customers in the store The selection was great and practically something for everyone. I thought the prices were a little high on some things, but not surprising when shopping locally and being able to purchase multiple gifts in one store. I thought the store was well stocked and had great variety, but due to multiple items being higher than other stores and no attempt at personal greeting while in the store, not sure we will visit again when in the area. read more

Support local businesses! We've been customers of Five Little Monkeys for several years. It has also even become a bit of a routine for my husband and son to stop by while I go workout at nearby Barry's. The store is well kept and organized, and clean! Prices are fair, with some even being around the same price as Amazon. The shop even provides quick and free gift wrapping year round. There's also no need to request a gift receipt since they'll keep the barcode sticker on and the recipient can use that to return a gift. I've even called ahead and charged over the phone a toy to be wrapped up and picked up an hour later. They have a loyalty program where you accumulate points for purchases and can get discounts off your purchases throughout the years. They have a few shops around the Bay Area and offer online shopping as well. read more

I love Five Little Monkeys so much! My kids do too. We've been going to this store since they were very young. My oldest is now 9 and my second is 3. We used to go here every week before SIP. When SIP started, we missed our beloved toy store so much so we ordered a few things from their website. It was so nice to be able to receive our first delivery from them. We've placed a couple of orders since and now that they have curbside available, my son and I have stopped by a couple of times a week. We love this toy store. We adore the events they've thrown for the community and hope they will make it out of these difficult times. I highly recommend this toy store. I've been a loyal Five Little Monkeys customer for nearly a decade. I try to support local business and always have bought birthday gifts here. This, though, is a store that does not love you back, even after spending literally thousands of dollars here. The last several visits have involved waits in line and inadequate staffing; they've been too busy, half the time, to bother entering my phone number so I can accumulate rewards. Today's wait and unfriendly service was so intolerable that I will not be returning. A customer went ahead of me in line (she had been slowly building a pile of items on the counter and said, right when I was at the front of the line, "I think I'm ready.") And the staff member immediately served her, which seemed rude, but also, she had a very large pile of items, she took her time deciding which wrapping paper went to which gift, and she had the staff member write her complicated wrapping instructions (this took ages because he only had a huge magic marker and no pen). When it was my turn, I was told, sorry, my *one* gift would have to wait to be wrapped until the wrapping was done for the two customers ahead of me, who each had about eight items to be wrapped. Customer service this bad sends people RIGHT to Amazon. Shop here if you don't mind waiting in line for twenty minutes, and then being told that wrapping for your one small gift will be an additional long wait. This store desperately needs more staff on weekends, or they need to discontinue gift wrap service. The gift wrap service was what set everything significantly back. read more

This gem of a store is located in Downtown Burlingame on Burlingame Ave area. They do have other locations but this is the only one I have been too! I love this location. It's a tiny store but it is jammed packed with so many toys and items for kids of all ages! You can definitely lose track by looking at all the items there. It's definitely a place where they have something for everybody! When I need a gift or just treating my daughter we love going here. A great local toy store that is filled with an abundance of varying age range of gifts. From legos to toddler gifts this store always has something unique that you can't always find at a target or Amazon. The store is always incredibly clean and easy to navigate. They seem to update their stock with current trends frequently which is helpful for gift buying. They offer gift wrapping which is always very clean and so useful when running short on time. If you don't see something on the floor, then the staff will be quick to tell you that it's in-stock at another location and definitely not in the back without checking their systems. This is a really great kids store on the main drag in Burlingame. There is a large Thomas the train playset in the middle the shop that all the kids like to play with. They have a lot of items such as Legos sets and stuff you would find in other toy stores. The staff here is very friendly and will help you look for items if you have questions. I went to this store with my mom, sister, and baby niece today after eating dinner. We were walking by and decided to take a look around just because it seemed like a cute little store. As soon as we stepped inside we walked by a tall Caucasian girl in her early 20's who worked there. I made eye contact with her and notice that she kept looking over our way. She just stared and didn't greet us, which was fine We then walked over by the book section and I felt so uncomfortable because she was literally walking in circles around us! I didn't even touch anything nor walked through the aisles. The girl then decided to stand right next to me and kept starring over making me feel super uncomfortable. I couldn't help but to feel like she was watching us because we were being stereotyped. My sister found a book she has been looking for but after she noticed this girl following us around we decided to just walk out. It was truly disgusting and embarrassing. I do not suggest coming into this store unless you like to be followed around. Your employees are a reflection of you and if you're making your customers feel uncomfortable then you will for sure loose business. I suggest investing in some diversity training to educate your staff. read more

Such a fun toy store. Prices aren't ridiculously high like other small toy stores. In fact, their prices are comparable to Amazon! My daughter ended up buying some toys here that we saw at Amazon for slightly more. They have such a variety of fun toys and puzzles for all ages. This is the best place in Bay Area to find a good and quality toy for kid. When I came there first time I was feeling like I saw an extract of toys from a big toy shop like Toys 4 Us. I found toys which I tried to find in a big store every time. I found cool metallic puzzles there and small gyroscope! Also they have available railroad for playing in the store, so your kids allow you to find toy. :) Another nice things. They wrap their toys as a gift for free. I appreciate that they sell a variety of wooden non-toxic toys, some of them are made in France, the UK. Kind of expensive. And they don't do returns very well. I tried to return a defective toy but they wouldn't take it back. I didn't have the box anymore so perhaps they're justified in that, but I feel like most very expensive, quality establishments are usually much more flexible about this sort of thing, and will give you store credit, especially given how many thousands of dollars I've spent in this store. This is my happy place, because, well TOYS. Every time I go into this adorable store in the new Burlingame shopping area, I find something cute, fuzzy, educational, funny and downright awesome. They do free wrapping of presents, which is awesome when you are on your way to a baby shower and need a last minute gift. Which I never do. Because I am an adult - a responsible adult - who remembers when she's been invited to a baby shower.
