What happened to this place??? We used to frequent here often pre-pandemic. Cute products. Absolutely horrible customer service. Walked in, browsed for a bit, and wanted to purchase 2 items for my nephew and niece. Sales associate was on the phone the entire time having a great conversation, which was fine. She put down the phone, rung us up. We paid for the items and left the store. Immediately when we exited the store, my wife felt that she was over charged since the items were on sale. She checked the receipt and she was correct. It happens. We marched right back in to the store and let the same associate know. This is where things went downhill. She didn't say a word to us while she was fixing the error. It wasn't necessarily her fault. But, she was not happy that she had to credit us back. Frankly, she was downright rude about it because she really didn't want to be bothered to fix this error. She finally spoke to us to let us know we were getting a credit back. We asked about another gift receipt and it was a real big ask for her. Needless to say, this store lost a customer. read more

I was returning a single item for my daughter but she could not find the receipt. A receipt I had from another purchase said that I could return it for store credit without the receipt. The Burlingame store clerk was very rude and said absolutely no return. The Burlingame clerk also said that she couldn't look up my daughters account only the store used for the purchase could. This turned out not to be accurate as she later on did look it up after spending an hour waiting around. I called the original store that it was purchased from and the manager so kindly sent me a copy of the receipt. As the Roseville store manager was very busy she could not get back to me for an hour. After all of that they would still only issue me a store credit but that was like pulling teeth. They have a lot of nice clothes there and I have a lot of grandchildren but I still don't like the idea of shopping there with the drama I had to go through. You also cannot return items purchased in a store that were given to you as a gift if you don't reside near a store. That's not always possible if you live in Idaho. read more

Possibly the worst customer service experience I've had at any Gap affiliated store. Although I was only 3 days past the return date, the salesperson said she could offer the lowest selling price which turns out to be half what I paid. I recommend others try a different location. She was also having trouble with one or two other customers before me. read more

Absolutley horrible service... after trying for several days now they do not answer their phone. Then they only have a 7 day return period so if they don't answer their phone in that time frame and you wait until they do then they will not allow you to return the item(s). read more

Cute store but in the multiple times I've gone there, it's been "temporarily closed" until a certain time despite the hours of operation being clearly posted in the store. This happens at all hours of the day (11:00am, 2pm, 4pm) so it doesn't seem reasonable that it would be lunch time. If you have to step out that many times that consistently, you should think about hiring more people to work in the store instead of making your customers way so often. It's unclear if the person running checkout is just taking really long breaks every single day or what the nature of the temporary closure is. read more

The clothes are great, classic French preppy, good quality. The customer service at this store is random. Some of the salesfolks are great and others are unhelpful and clueless, make mistakes. The way they handle returns and store credits is terrible. They supposedly credit an account but not your account, meaning you cannot use the credits easily. read more

Had a 68.00 store credit. Used it online as they did have the merchandise. LSS, they lost my order and I am out 68.00 since I can't prove I had a store credit, issued because of the stores incompetent manager. NEVER shop here. I have 4 grandchildren, how short sighted. My older sister has a 14 month little girl and i'm expecting a little girl in the Spring so it was really fun to pop in here with my sis to do a little shopping after dinner. The newborn stuff was all in the back and we both instantly found a ton of cute outfits for my little peanut. And amazingly, everything we found was 60% off. I found a cute little summer dress and a matching cardigan--and a cute champagne silk dress that my peanut can wear to my youngest sisters wedding rehearsal dinner later this year. We were looking at dresses online during the holidays and found newborn dresses for $100 that were wedding appropriate but this gem was only $20! We couldn't pass it up! Thankfully my younger sis was with us and was able to approve on the spot. SCORE! My sister also found cute outfits for her toddler and several cute stockings to keep her warm in the cold winter months. Most of the items she found were not heavily discounted like the items I found but they were not full price, which was still a treat. I'll be a FTM (First time mom - new acronym I've recently discovered on these baby sites) but have so many friends and now my sister, with children. I know how quickly kids grow out of clothes so it seems a little ridiculous to spend $60 on an outfit they'll wear a few times. IF your lucky! So, needles to say - I was really happy to have found these items at such a great deal. The clothes are so cute and irresistible at Janie and Jack so I'm sure i'll be back -- but I might be a little more hesitant to buy items at full price. read more

Tried to go shopping here this afternoon. First time sign on door said be back at 2:30... no problem got coffee walked around a bit came back. Store still closed this time sign says be back at 3:15. It's 3.13 so no problem will wait a couple minutes. 3:15 comes and goes store remains closed. Toddler starts melting down had to go- couldn't waste anymore time waiting for store associates to open it back up. Won't be returning to this store due to its unreliable hours. read more

Attention to the Manager and Regional Managers: I walked into your store today at about 3:30pm ready and willing to buy an outfit for my son. I was not greeted or acknowledged by the 2 employees and there were maybe 2 other people inside. I overlooked that and proceeded to look for clothes for my 5 years old. First off didn't even seem like there was anything! Then I go to one rack it's a mess! Sizes aren't matching the dividers. So I'm looking at the 5 divider and I see 3-6 months. The clothes were not even organized! I saw a lot of shorts and short sleeve shirts but nothing even close to a decent outfit for Church or family event. Extremely disappointed! This was the best place I used to always shop for my son and gifts, now it's just messy with oblivious workers who just can't even say hello or pretend to even care someone's there to purchase. Please resolve this. Your bottom line is being affected. I could have spent 100+ or more but you lost a sale. read more

For years, I've been purchasing gifts from here for all my friends kids who have birthdays, xmas, etc. The staff here is extremely nice and helpful. They even recommend outfits as being a guy I have no clue. So far all of my friends(i think their kids too) are extremely happy with the clothes from here and I will continue to shop here until all their kids grow out of the sizes offered! :) read more

I am sad that my children are outgrowing Janie and Jack. For the past 7 years it has been fun swooping in on the sale items and scoring great outfits for my son and daughter. When they outgrow them, my wife takes them to the consignment sales store in Noe Valley and usually gets top dollar for them since they are of such good quality. Every year they offer a photography deal where you get a free sitting and an 8X10 for purchasing a certain amount (the amount gets higher each year). Our walls are lined with great photos of our kids growing up--wearing nifty outfits from Janie and Jack. As mentioned by others, the service staff is always friendly and helpful. They offer to gift wrap everything which makes each purchase special for th kids. read more

Fantastic service from two women on a recent baby shower purchase. They were extremely helpful and thoughtful about gift ideas! They suggested everything from books and matching toys to adorable outfits with matching hats and accessories. Definitely ask for sale items and look high and low there are sales items in lots of nooks and cranies! I must say you can spend quite a bundle in this lovely little store so be careful it sure adds up quickly! Great service...they do wrap gifts too!
