I needed some hardware that was missing from a project I received. After narrowing down what I needed, I tried to use the app and website to search, but nothing came up that matched, though I was certain that the store had what I needed in stock. A short drive later, I was trying to find what I needed, and came up short, but only in quantity. An employee came by and offered help, and I told them what I needed. They were right to a different bin, and counted out the exact quantity that I needed. They then gave me the price for that item and one other similar item. When I mentioned that the app and website didn't help, they told me that some of the items wouldn't come UP on the website or in the app, but that I could call anytime to have someone check the stock for me. I wrote the info on the handy plastic bag and went to check out. The employee at the checkout counter was polite, friendly, and professional. They asked for my phone number to access my rewards account. When I walked out, I had exactly what I needed, and for a very reasonable price. This is now my go-to store for all but major hardware needs. I highly recommend Ace Hardware, and especially this location. It kind of felt like I was dealing with family. read more

How do you not have ANY of the 20×20x1air filters?! Every brand and grade of the most common size of air filter is out, none in the back. And the clerk said you won't have any for 3 days! How long have y'all been ordering merchandise??? I try to give you my business when possible, but often I end up having to go to a big box store because you're out of a common item. Maybe focus more on core items and less on goofy chotchkies that you'll inevitably end up closing out. read more

I used to be a consistent customer. Local , well stocked, knowledgeable employees. Last four visits, doing a bath remodel, noticed extreme out of stock positions on numerous products. Have never seen this store look this bad. Asked for assistance getting a set screw and ended up teaching the employee where they were and how to derive the correct size. Was told the store now had a new owner out of Houston that spends limited time there. It shows. You might reconsider a wasted trip here and check inventory ( if the phone gets answered) before making the drive. Unfortunately I do not have time to waste. I've been going here for a while and the service is always excellent. The thing about this place is you're not going to get too far into the store before someone asks you, "May I help you?." They have a new machine that sharpens knives. I've been cooking and sharpening knives for over 50 years and there's nothing better than this machine. If you bought a new knife and enjoyed the edge on the knife this machine will return it to that edge. The price is reasonable too. You can buy something similar online for 10 grand to give you a idea. read more

First time coming into the store to sharpen my kitchen knives. The place was immaculate, clean, and the staff was very professional and personable. I love that they have an adorable dog that greets you that you can pet! I think today was a corporate meeting, and all the general managers were there to be at the store. Ann, the corporate manager covered the cost of the knife sharpening, which was a pleasant surprise!! Staff is always friendly and willing to help you find what you need or give you advice with any of your projects. You don't need to go searching for help, they are always on the floor or behind the counter. I've been coming here since they opened and I couldn't be any happier. Five Oaks is the perfect mash up of a down home hardware store and a small town gift shop! I drove 45 minutes to come to this Ace because I needed mason jars and they had them in stock. I assumed it was a simple hardware store and I would walk in, get my item and go shopping elsewhere. I was so wrong! I browsed for well over an hour and enjoyed chatting with the friendliest and most helpful staff! I ended up purchasing quite a few fun and unique Christmas gifts as well. Was not happy with my experience at this location. Walked in looking for a basic tool. The employees were just talking and laughing with one in other so I searched for what I was looking for by myself. When I was unable to find it I found a worker that was actually working and asked for help. She pointed me in the direction of when she thought is was which I did not find it so I asked for help again. So she walked over and then when she was unable to find it she call on the radio to find out they did not stock it. (A pick axe)? Really? I went out of my way to give them a shot as I had a lot of other stuff to purchase to. I don't think I will ever spend any money here just go down to the street to the basic hardware stores. Supposed to be the place where you can get help but I really had to go out of my way to get help from someone. Maybe just the first time bad experience. This hardware store is in a beautiful facility, plenty of wide parking spots and laid out well on the inside. I was excited when I walked in as they appear to have a lot of inventory. The kind of place you could spend 30 minutes just walking around and looking at everything. Speaking of 30 minutes, I called them ahead of time and ask for a specific item to ensure that it was there. I wanted to know because it was a 30 minute drive. When I arrived I learned they actually did not have the item. They repeatedly asked me who I spoke to and checked with all employees and they said no one had answered the phone requesting that item. The better approach would've been I am sorry that there was a miscommunication. Instead I got you must've called a different store. When I showed them my phone that I had been on a call to their phone number for 2 minutes they continued to say well everyone said they did not speak to you about the item. My wife continued to shop as I was having dialogue (continuing to blame me) with the store employees. We did not buy the additional items, nor can I recommend this store. read more

I needed some gorilla glue for a project I was doing on 1/19/23. So I went to Five Oaks Hardwear at 5:20 pm. So I went into the store and got the gorilla glue that I need. I approached the cashier and they rang up my gorilla glue so when it was time to pay I handed them my $50.00 dollar bill. So the cashier (Jonah) tells me I'll be back I said ok. Well he returns and 3 other employees show back up and one of the three employees was assistant manager (Louise). And so the assistant manager tells me they can't except my $50 bill because it was counterfeit. So I pay my bill with my bank card. Now I start panicking thinking how did I end up with a counterfeit $50.00. I start getting PTSD. So I ask them if I can leave my personal information cause I'm not someone to run. So I leave the store 10 mins later the other employee (Taylor) calls me up and tells me that if I can come pick up my $50.00 cause it is real. I feel they profiled me cause I from Hawaii and I have a lot of tattoos. And they couldn't compromise me with making me feel shame in front of other customers and the employees in the store. I suggest that if you have a lot of tattoos like I do don't go to Five Oaks Hardwear store cause they will profile you. N on the other note them taking my $50.00 then giving it back is some sort of theft. And all the owner of Five Oaks Hardwear ( John DunLap ) could say is sorry. This is one of the most interesting and fun hardware stores to shop in I have ever experienced. This family owned store is an excellent alternative to the big box stores in that they have everything the big box has and more but in smaller quantities. They have top of the line Weber outside grills, Stihl power equipment, Milwaukee, DeWalt and many more. Heck, they even have toys for children, steak rub, Bar-B-Q sauces, a small nursery and Carolina peanuts. The store is well stocked, has friendly, helpful employees, and is simply a wonderful place to shop. It is one of those rare businesses where you go in for one item and come out with five and don't want to leave - really! Oh yeah, I witnessed a father buying a grunting pig toy for one of his daughters and a Tyrannosaurus Rex hand puppet for his other daughter. He bought a roll of Gorilla tape for his wife and a Bar-B-Q grill cleaning brush for himself - what fun! Give it a go and you will not be disappointed. read more

i would recommend this store to everyone. I was greeted by a friendly employee when I entered the store. I was guided to where I could find the plant food I wanted. The employee was helpful but not pushy. since This was my first visit, I walked around. The store is thoroughly stocked. I, of course, left with more than I needed. I found earings I had to buy, particularly because of the $12.95 price tag. I found a kitchen utensil that keeps pasta water to keep from boiling over. I hadn't seen this type before so I had to buy it. I will make this store a regular stop. read more

I described to them the project I was working on and they helped me get all the materials and tools I needed. They even gave me tips on how to avoid common mistakes. It was such a nice change from big stores like Home Depot where I can walk around for 30 minutes and not find a single person to help me. I would definitely recommend. Excellent customer service. Ordered a chainsaw online near me (Five Oaks Ace) and had it in my car headed home TEN minutes after I placed the order!! Grant you I'm less than a mile from the store but I still think that's incredible service. Ordered online for curbside from Lowe's, drove over to pick it up at Blanco and 1604. Sat 30 minutes, called twice to let them know I was still waiting and 10 minutes later they came out and said they didn't have it!! Well, needless to say Five Oaks Ace is my new BFF!! read more
