I hired Five or Free Electrical Solutions through Yelp for service scheduled on 2/11/26. They were very responsive in setting up a free quote on 2/10/26 and quickly scheduled the service for the next day. To secure the appointment, I had to prepay for a package that included full diagnostics and replacement of up to two devices. I felt comfortable paying upfront because of their reviews and business model, and I was on a tight timeline. On 2/11, the technician arrived on time, diagnosed the issue, and restored power to two non-working outlets. However, the job was not completed as agreed because the outlets required GFCI replacements. The technician said he was not informed that outlets needed to be replaced and did not have the necessary materials. That lack of preparation immediately caused delays. I also felt there was more focus on upselling a larger future project rather than completing the paid scope of work for the day. After I contacted the company, a follow-up was scheduled for 2/13/26. I was initially given a two-hour window, but the appointment was changed last-minute to later time that evening. The second technician was efficient and completed the outlet replacements in about 30-40 minutes. Still, the overall experience resulted in a multi-day setback that impacted my next urgent project and now not allowing me to move forward due to the long weekend (president's day). To their credit, management followed up and set up a call 2/17/26 with the manager of operations; they ultimately honored their "Five or Free" guarantee. However, I was initially told that all five promises had to be broken to qualify for a full refund, which contradicts their stated policy. Their guarantee clearly states that if even one promise is missed, the service is free; so I had to reference their own website during that discussion. At the end I appreciate that the full refund was ultimately offered / issued. However, due to the lack of preparedness, delays, and overall experience, I would not hire them again. read more

Very disappointed, after locking almost 2 hours of my families time by having your tech look around the house and giving him free range to our house. I still have not received a quotation or a peep for the job. Sufficient it to say, I will not be pursuing any business with your team. Keeping commitments is key to any partnership and business agreements read more

I received a link to request service and was given a response of, "we can not provide service at this time."

Excellent service. Timely and transparent. Helped me get an EV charger permit. Kept me appraised of every step was smooth and trouble free

Evan Ruenz was able to change out our old transformer (used for Ring doorbell) in about 5 minutes. Friendly, kind and professional. He even showed me the voltage to show it was really hardwired properly. Thanks Evan! read more

I sent off a generic request to find a service that would be able to help inspect the electrical build in my place, and they were the first to get back to me. Within an hour of my initial inquiry, I had something on the books literally same day. Tommy (who did the initial consult for me, and was very easy to talk to) stopped by and recommended a more thorough review. I was able to get that scheduled for the next day. They sent Elvin over to take a look at the mess I have going on with my very ancient electrical system. He was super helpful - he took his time walking through and evaluating everything, and explained things to me while doing so. When it came down to his professional opinion and recommendations, it was a super chill conversation -- he made my options clear and understandable without the feeling of an 'upsell' He also humored my dog, who kept following him everywhere They were also available to do the work almost immediately, but my scheduling couldn't accommodate. So TLDR: super fast response, ability to do work quickly, and really good people to work with. read more

Five or Free has recently completed their services for our home. Chris R., the technical professional who conducted a comprehensive system overview, was exceptional. He demonstrated expertise, professionalism, and thoroughness throughout the engagement. He provided detailed explanations to all our inquiries. He reviewed the existing EV charger, which we are adding a second to, and validated its installation and requirements. He conducted thorough testing of circuits throughout the house and provided a detailed analysis of the main panel. He identified potential opportunities within the panel to ensure simultaneous charging of two cars while simultaneously operating a dryer, portable heater, or hot tub motor without causing overheating of the system, which was not designed for the demands of modern electric vehicles. All recommendations were based on functionality, performance, and safety, with the latter being the primary focus. I highly recommend this business without hesitation. They are a reputable company with integrity, which aligns perfectly with the nature of this type of work. Guys, congratulations on the company culture and hiring awesome staff. That didn't go unnoticed. Thanks read more

We had Five or Free electricians replacing an old subpanel and running some new circuits for our kitchen remodel. Everything is now up to current code :) - an unexpected expense that we're glad we took care of quickly. The service technicians (Evan and Matt) showed up on time and spent a long day completing all the work professionally. They cleaned up every work area and patched the walls nicely. We'll be calling back for our next remodeling project I'm sure. read more

Great service and communication. Both Elvin (estimator) and Carlos (installer) showed up professionally and on-time. Very friendly, helpful, and organized. My Ring video doorbell was not working for a while, so Elvin found the doorbell transformer needs replacement to match the voltage requirement and scheduled installation with Carlos. The installation went well. They also added surge protection for my whole unit, which was optional, but I'm glad they also did it. Overall, it was a great value. read more

Price was astronomical. But at least they refunded me for a service that I was lead to believe was required for the quote

Had a visit from Michael. In all my time of hiring companies to help with projects I've never seen someone so thorough. He patiently heard me share what was needed for my outlets, quickly saw the problem with a couple of them that I needed have someone drill so they could fit, and explained what he thought was the solution. He quoted me for the second part of the job according to what was needed, nothing more. Two days later Evan came out and did the second part of the job and like Michael was focused on quality. Five or Free is the way to go. read more

Had a Five or Free sticker on my breaker box from the previous owner so I called them for an electrical problem. Carlos came quickly to check things out and he was a blessing. Such a wonderful personality and quick excellent service. And we were still under warranty from them replacing the panel many years ago. Amazing company and amazing warranty. read more

Had an EV car charger installed and did a great job. Any electrical issues we encounter, they will be the first we call.

I've spent the last 3 days with Evan and Matthew. They had to rewire many of the rooms in my home. They were professional, on time, communicative and they were very conscientious of my cats. Today, I had my Air Conditioning unit repaired and serviced by a young man named Pablo. He was extremely professional, prompt, and personable. He diagnosed the issue in minutes and offered solutions. His manager Dan also showed up and was the same guy. Dan told it to me straight, even said" I was not going to like a suggestion" he had for my 40-year-old unit. He was right, but didn't oversell any of their services. I found the experience with Five or Free to be First class, I would recommend them for all you HVAC and or electrical needs. read more

I was told by their estimator that there was a voltage drop on the circuit to be worked on, requiring a $495 dollar voltage drop analysis. I had seven CFL fixtures changed to LED in my 12' ceiling. My electrician was Christian - very polite and a hard worker. He came prepared with the right equipment, covered everything in my kitchen with plastic sheeting, did his job and cleaned up everything after. Five or Free promises five things and lived up to them. I think I got a fair price for a job well done. I highly recommend Five or Free. read more

I have used Five or Free Electrical several times now, and they have always been professional, friendly, and hassle-free.

I've had varied experiences with their estimators and service, but overall they do good work. We first worked with them a couple years ago to update 10+ outlets & smart switches. They also replaced old security lights around our house with new ones, a mix of updated motion-activated flood lights and smart security flood lights. Overall good, but I did notice some sloppy caulk work on some of the flood lights that I cleaned up later. The guys they sent were courteous and professional. We also had them back to install a wired Eufy doorbell camera, which required some planning to ensure that it could be hooked up to both a power source and Ethernet. The team did a great job, listened to our needs around placement, patched up the walls where they drilled, and cleaned up afterwards. That said, of course they're not patch pros, but luckily we were planning on bringing painters in anyway. I've gotten a couple other estimates from them for other work, but decided not to go with them because their prices are usually the highest quote. The most egregious estimate (and hard sell) I got was for upgrading our sub panels. They were the first ones I talked to and the estimator quoted around 5k-6k total. I immediately didn't feel great about needing to put down a check deposit & the price and cancelled the next day. We did end up upgrading our sub-panels for half that with another electrician at a more reasonable price. That said, these guys are experienced professionals and obviously run a tight ship; good booking software, good web presence, lots of availability and expertise--I'd imagine the overheard requires that sort of markup to keep things chugging along. read more

I could not be more pleased with the service I received from the folks at Five or Free. PG&E had sent me a letter requiring me to have a ground wire moved. I contacted Five or Free on Monday morning and spoke with John who kindly and promptly set me up with an appointment for Tuesday. John was cool (we spoke for a minute) and after learning I am a veteran he encouraged me to apply for the company's veteran discount (really helpful). On Tuesday Tim A came by in the morning to assess the need. He was on time, quick, and super friendly. The team set me up with a same day appointment to get the job done. Later that afternoon Tim returned and knocked out the job in less than 30 minutes including patching up a wall. The work was done well and done quickly. These guys are GREAT. You've earned a customer. AND thank you for the great price. Again, thanks Tim and team for being so excellent. Two thumbs up. read more

We had couple of breakers tripping frequently had called in help to identify the issue. They were professional. At one point in our conversations there was inconsistencies in what the issue was (larger voltage drops at end points, breaker itself, inefficient wiring etc. ) but ultimately issue got fixed although some of the concerns initially raised seemed not concerning later. read more

I am shocked by the quote they gave to install a ceiling fan. Avoid this place. He's not just vastly over priced but also a professional scam artist. His quote was 2.5x of any licenses professional electrician in the market. On top of that he played a scam with a little meter claiming that the voltage is off by 2%. He was not even called for that instead just chose to transform into a marketing salesman for unsolicited services. The estimate for installing 10 lights was 6000 dollars... laughable read more

Quick response. Hardworking personnel completed job well. No problems. Would use again. I was planning to do several upgrades for my house's electricity system. I would like to upgrade my electrical panel, to add an EV charger and to repair some breaker in my subpanel. I asked quotes from several electricians and electric companies. Elvin and another electrician from Five or Free came to check my situation. They did a very thorough examination of my electric circuit, and even called our electricity provider to double check the situation. Finally, they reached the conclusion that my electrical panel doesn't need upgrade and they can do the rest of the work. They really went above and beyond to do their job. Unfortunately, my budget for this work changed due to the harsh economic situation now, and the quote from Five or Free is certainly in the high end among the quotes I got, although they did a more detailed examination than any of the other electricians I met. All things considered, I am pausing my project now, but may use their work if my financial situation improves. read more
