I had been experiencing strange electrical issues in my house, from lights intermittently flickering, to bathroom and house fans speeding up and slowing down. This seemed to get worse over time; it's been occurring over the last 2 years. PG&E came out and tested their lines and found no issue. They noted that it's likely a loose or faulty Neutral wire in their report. I found TD West on Yelp and called for an appointment. Dinh set up a window between 11am-1pm. Joseph arrived at 11:25am and inspected the outdoor and garage service panel. He immediately noticed the bad Neutral wire in the garage panel that connected my solar panels. You could see the burnt plastic surrounding the wire along with burnt plastic on the panel. I feel lucky this didn't cause a fire!! Joseph ran out to Home Depot, got a new connector and moved the Neutral to a different location. He cut out the burnt part of the wire as well. Everything was complete in 1.5 hours. Problem solved! I was billed $250, the minimum service charge Dinh had mentioned over the phone. $250 well spent! read more

A few days ago, three outlets in our kitchen/dining room suddenly stopped working. Concerned that this may related to the GFCI outlets we had installed, we contacted Dinh to see if he could help us troubleshoot. Dinh sent a team member over the next day. Joseph was meticulous in helping us identify the problem. After examining the faulty outlets, he quickly ascertained that the issue was not related to the GFCI at all. He then went outlet to outlet (even pushing out our fridge to access the outlet behind it) to triage. It turns out that one of the old outlets in the circuit had old/faulty wiring, causing the downstream outlets to go in/out sporadically. The wiring also showed evidence of arcing. He replaced the outlet for us, probably saving our house from burning down. We highly appreciate that, as a professional courtesy to a repeat customer, Dinh did this for us free of charge, even though the new problem was unrelated to his previous work. read more

What a pleasant experience. We had a need to get an new NEMA 1050 to set up for an EV charger and contacted TD West. We spoke to Tom and was able to get on their calendar the next day! Joseph did a fantastic job helping us replace a bad lighting fixture. The old fixture was falling out and needed to be replaced. Based on visual inspection, he was able to pop in some new parts and fix the whole mechanism in under 30 mins. He then installed the new light, and everything was good as new. Afterwards, when we complained about some kitchen lights that were much too bright, he replaced the on/off switch with a dimmer that allows us to control the brightness. (Thankfully the bulbs were already dimmable.) We appreciated Joseph's patience and calm demeanor in listening to our concerns and producing solutions. Selected them after getting quotes from 3 different electricians. Appreciated their professional quote itemizing scope of work. (This was definitely helpful because there was communication gap in middle where they only came back to finish the remaining work after we followed up). Upgraded main panel from 100 to 200amp, moved subpanel, grounded outlets, added recessed lighting and EV charger outlet. Most of work done quickly within 1.5 weeks, but took a while to schedule city inspections (which they warned us about) and tying up loose ends. One area for improvement is electricians being more careful about site cleanliness (did not clean up well) and wall patching (we had to fix it ourselves). read more

With the Bay Area getting hotter and for longer periods of time, I needed to do something as my house gets hot! Ideally, I'd like AC but with the big cost of getting one installed along with upgrading my electrical panel, I figured 2 ceiling fans would do the trick for now. I contacted the electrician I used before (about 3 years ago) but unfortunately, on vacation for a month. Decided to use TD West Electric on a friend's recommendation as work done was seamless and reasonably priced. Sent a message via Yelp and received a response back within an hour to have 2 ceiling fan installed (one needing a new junction box), a door chime replaced (yeah old school but until i decide which smart doorbell camera i want) and switching light fixtures from one room to another. Salvador came out to do the work and was on-time, professional, respectful, friendly and did the job quickly, cleaning up after and removing all packaging from the area. A personable guy and good conversation. :) The above job took about 2.5 hours at a fair price. About an hour after Salvador left I noticed one of the fans wasn't turning on. I called up TD West Electric and Tom explained (non-judging and patient) the remote and the switch.....duh! Realized for that particular room, the wall switch was off and needed to be on for the remote to work. I came across a review for TD West Electric and realized I was dealing with the same strange electrical issue -- the power in my house kept cutting in and out for no clear reason.
