My concern was that I felt the result was very different from what I hoped. I was disappointed. I hoped to have one of the nicest properties in the community, and instead I felt a little embarrassed. This is my fault, but I was out of the country for a couple of months while the company was doing the install, and I was too busy to give the project the careful thought that it required. After being in the house for one week, I decided that I was unhappy enough to be feel bad instead of happy about my new front and back yards. I decided to find another landscaper to totally redo the landscaping. I had seen the Desert Sage Landscaping truck several times over the past few months working on nicely landscaped properties (I rented a house in the community for 8 moths while they built my house). I liked what I saw. I talked with one of the guys and he took me to the owner, Miguel. I liked having the owner actively maintaining landscapes because that gave me confidence that he had a lot of practical, on the job experience with plants in our desert environment. I showed him my front and back yards and told him what I wanted done. I asked him about many plants that I liked and he told me what was good and what was bad. He was speaking from experience in maintaining so many properties. He gave me a plan within 24 hours and began a couple of days later. He and his crew spent about a week replacing the walkways and plants, and adding boulders, hills, irrigation, lights and many plants. The price was reasonable and the result is excellent. They were asking to borrow our tools. They were breaking furniture apart like cavemen. They were bumping into our walls all the way down the stairs and out the front door. Blue Guava did about ten times the work (no exaggeration), in only 2.5-3 hours longer for only $250 more than the big company. They brought their own tools and quickly disassembled furniture when necessary. Further, they identified what was donatable, took it to Goodwill, and brought us back receipts for our tax returns. Again, if you need movers, this is the company you want.

After paying a deposit he showed up the next day and began the work, which consisted of removing the tree roots that caused the sidewalk to buckle and re-pouring the sidewalk. He finished the project over the course of a few days. Raphael clearly cares about his work and the end product looked - to my untrained eye - very well done. The City of Phoenix agreed that the work looked good and the sidewalk passed inspection. I would hire Raphael again for sidewalk repair and other concrete jobs.

Communication was poor throughout, and attention to detail was consistently lacking. Part of the bathroom remodel was my responsibility since insurance wouldn't cover the undamaged portion. I quickly realized something was off once I started seeing their pricing. They quoted $3,400 for a glass shower door--I had it done elsewhere for $1,700. They also quoted nearly $9,000 for a walk-in shower with basic white subway tile; I ultimately had it completed with excellent craftsmanship for $6,400. I eventually stopped the job altogether after repeated issues, including reinstalling a mirror without leaving space for a backsplash--despite that being clearly discussed. To make matters worse, they used a black tar-like adhesive that made the mirror nearly impossible to remove without breaking it and caused wall damage. Years later, I'm still dealing with problems caused by their work. I initially hesitated to leave a review because the owner, Corey, came as a personal recommendation. The final straw, however, was the LVP flooring installed by their subcontractor. About two years after installation, the planks began cupping and shifting. I brought in multiple flooring contractors for repair quotes (around $1,500), and every single one said the same thing: the flooring was not installed correctly. There was insufficient expansion space, no transitions, and likely no vapor barrier--especially concerning given this was part of a flood mitigation project. When I raised these concerns, I was met with deflection and avoidance. Eventually, Alex acknowledged that corners were cut, but claimed it wasn't "legally required" at the time. Even if that were true, manufacturer recommendations exist for a reason--especially after flood damage. I still tried to resolve things reasonably and asked for a fair quote to fix the issue and move on. Their response was a $2,484 quote--nearly $1,000 more than every other contractor. Between the overpricing, poor workmanship, lack of accountability, and long-term issues I'm still dealing with, this was an extremely frustrating experience. I would not use this company again.

There was never any follow up I was the one that always had to call them asking what the status was between their conversations with my insurance company. I sent them the statement of work from my insurance company well over a month ago and the people at tactical restoration said they would assign me a project manager. I called them almost every week for a month and nothing happened and then all of a sudden they told me they didn't have the insurance company statement of work and we had to start all over again and it would be another 7 to 8 weeks before they could assign me a project manager. Horrible customer service. Horrible follow up.
