DO NOT TRUST Chris!…read more I took my 2013 F 150 into Chris for a shifting problem in my transmission. at the initial conversation regarding the issues Chris stated the first thing he would do is run diagnostics on it and pull the pan to see what type of metal shavings would be in the pan. No codes were thrown and he asked me how many miles were on the truck. I told him 170k. His response was "The transmission is just tired, you need a new one." So I wrote him a check for $4700 for the transmission. his quote in writing to me was $4700 for the transmission and $1295 for labor. The day I took the truck in he called and said 'I don't think it's the transmission, sounds like the transfer case. but we won't know until we put the tranny in'. So I asked him why we ordered the transmission if It might be the transfer case. He said it needs a transmission anyway. So at this point he is unsure about what is actually wrong with the truck. He then says he had to take it to a Aamco and get their opinion. Turns out they said it was the transmission and I had also taken it for a second opinion that conquered as well that it was the transmission. So after all of this nonsense of him not knowing the problem, I lost two whole days with no work being done to the transmission. He also came back with a new quote of $2000 now to put the transmission in. $700 more than his writtwn quote to me after he inspected the vehicle. Then he had the nerve to tell me he would never waste my money and order a transmission unless he ran full diagnostics on the vehicle. But he conveniently had short term memory loss when he said 'it's just tired, you need a new transmission'. On top of that he told me I misunderstood him!! So why did you order the transmission then??? I could go on and on and on but the point to this is Chris doesn't really know what he is doing, he lies about everything and doesn't honor his own quotes! DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO CHRIS AT COUNTRYSIDE AUTOMOTIVE!! Unless you like wasting time, money, being lied to and not having your quote honored! Regretting ever having trusted this man and also regretting that I have to give at least one star on this review! Worst experience ever. Chris gives honest mechanics a bad name!! One more thing... my truck smells like an ashtray now after he drove it. I've never been to his shop when he didn't have a cigarette in his mouth, pretty sure he smoked in my truck of it was just him, but he left that nasty smell in my vehicle.

I was not fully aware of what was wrong with my car that I drove from NC to FL before the engine just stopped when I came to a stop sign. I had my car towed to this shop which claims to "specialize" in foreign cars BMW, PORSCHE, MERCEDES ETC. I called and spoke to Dan Royster himself and I told him I felt that my starter or engine control was bad and needed to be replaced, he asked me how did I know and I told him I watched a few videos on my car and that was the common issue, his exact words were "why are you letting YouTube fix your car when I'm the professional and why would you go for the jugular so soon when it may be a simple fix". He reassured me with his words and I felt that my car was in the right place. He called me the very next day and said he had bad news for me, my engine was completely locked and my beloved car was finished, he told me it happens to those cars all the time, I tried to inquire about getting it fixed regardless and he insisted it wouldn't be worth it quoting me $14,000 to repair it! I dropped my car off to Dan Royster's shop on Nov. 23rd of 2024 to be diagnosed and repaired which was never done properly, I was hoping the mechanic would take a deeper look and call back with better news which never happened. I have voicemails from Dan Royster stating that my engine was gone, every phone call to his shop he would reiterate that the engine was bad which lead me to believe him being that he claims to be a professional! Fast forward to January 9th of 2025 I listed my car for sale on FB marketplace for parts trusting the word and so called expertise of this mechanic, the Buyer met me at the mechanic shop and purchased the car I paid $50,000 for, for $8500 with the intent to use for parts, the person that bought my car called me the next day with the car running in perfect condition after changing a $200 part (starter)!!!!! He told me the mechanic lied to me and it was only a $200 fix and not $14,000 like I was told by this shop! I was very hurt and upset once I learned that I was lied to in hopes that I would forfeit my vehicle, I contacted Dan Royster immediately the very next day to let him know the loss I took due to his misdiagnosis and his exact words were "I'm human I make mistakes"!!!! A simple mistake is understood but quoting me a $14000 mistake is mind blowing and I am now at a total loss and headed to litigation with this shop for the balance of the true value of my vehicle. Dan Royster agreed to make it right at first which we have recorded, then changed his story after disappearing for a week and now says he isn't responsible and that "I should not have listened to him and trusted his word, I should have towed it somewhere else for a second opinion" which we also have that statement recorded as well. Stay far away from this place and in his own words "ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION" do not take his words for anything, if he quoted me $14,000 for a $200 job I am pretty sure he's done this in the past and got away with ripping off unknowing customers that believe and trust his word. Be VERY careful and sure to double check his work, parts and the amount you are being charged because he has no problem quoting & charging you for things you don't need!! He is either totally incompetent and really has no clue of what he's doing or he's just dishonest and ripping people off but it's definitely one or the other which equals bad business, do not listen to this guy you may just need a $10 fuse, take your car somewhere else and don't fall victim to the "honest" reviews like I did they just didn't uncover the truth because we're customers not mechanics and this guy will get over on you!

The recommended remedy was to plug the tire instead. Now, there's damage to my new tire from having to Pierce the steel belt. I asked for a refund of the price difference and was told "No, your good. You asked for a patch and are leaving with a patch and plug". I replied, that I could have plugged it myself at home but I did not want to pierce a new tire, I wanted it done with a patch from the inside. He repeated, "well, your good".

I asked him why he used such heavy socket and he had no excuse except that he only impact sockets (which were too thick). Then he told me the wheels had to be torqued at 100 lbs which I knew was incorrect and called Crager customer service and they advised not to torque over 80 ft lbs. After damaging both wheels which were very expensive he offered me $150 which with two damaged from wheels worth $600 was offensive. I will never do business with this company again.
