This was a terrible experience. We picked up an RV and upon arriving to our campsite we noticed a rip in the awning. We immediately called five star and reported the damage and they said they would note it and take care of it. We now just got our security deposit back with $250 less because of awning damage. I would rent an rv from somewhere else, Justin the service manager cursed at me on the phone and hung up after I asked him for the protocol for damage transactions. There are many different places to rent RVs from and I would highly advise that you choose a different place. Dear Friends, Run....run the other way as fast as you can. I refuse to write a long diatribe of a Yelp review as I am a small business owner myself, but trust me when I say that I have had an out of the box horrible experience with this company; and I am usually beyond patient with these types of things -Broken down RV including busted kitchen extenders (that you had to physically push out and pull in), light fixtures falling out, broken power steering, water pump not being set correctly, charging plug out, radio didn't work, mattress was too long for bed, so rear hatch wouldn't shut correctly, on and on and on (I'm sure I'm forgetting things). All of this was after being told that we had a "premium" RV. -Super shady up front costs on initial rental (went from $1500 to almost $3000) - Guy tried run an insurance claim on a flat tire. Guy also tried to run an $8000 claim on light damage to rear bumper from a motorist that tagged the back while we were away from vehicle. I'm not a body guy, but I've done enough car repair to know that this was clearly fraudulent. -When I tried to call to see where my refund was for $300 deductible on claim, I had to leave three separate messages with the guy who could barely speak English at the front desk, before finally had to call and demand to speak with the owner. This was over three weeks time. Again, I do not write Yelp reviews lightly and being a fellow business owner it took me a lot to get pushed over the edge enough to write this, but seriously an all around awful experience. Terrible experience. He was rude, condescending, petty and unfair. We had mechanical problems with the rv and called the emergency number they provided us. Despite the office being open at the time we called, we never got through and never got a call back. We were on our own to get it repaired and going again. He was unapologetic about it. When we first went to pick it up, the cost was different than what we agreed to on the phone but we were essentially stuck with him at that point. Unexpected fees, seemingly changes to the deal. We should have backed out and changed our plans. Then when we went to return it, there were reports of damage which we didn't at all agree with. It was a major hassle getting even part of the deposit back. He ended up keeping some which was unfair since we felt that we returned the Rv better than we found it. No interactions we had with them were positive. There are other options. I have rented a few RVs before in different places and have had no problems. read more

Do not buy from here! I was promised that my "hold" fee would be refunded for any reason if things didn't work out with the purchase. I then confidently put $1000 down to take the RV off the market over the weekend. I had an inspection done on the vehicle and it turned out that the mechanic had many red flags including a possible blown head gasket and transmission issues. When I contacted Five Star and told them the situation, they said they'd have "their mechanic" take a look. Well of course he said all was totally fine and the only way I'd get my $1000 back is if I purchased the vehicle. Barry was very rude and aggressive on the phone and still refuses to refund the deposit even after being contacted by the Attorney General. Turns out that vehicle is still on the market and has been for over half a year. I'm sure others also found the same issues that my mechanic found and backed out of the purchase as well. Steer clear of this place and be sure to make your deal contingent upon an inspection. read more

I had a good experience with these guys getting service done one one of our shop vehicles. Nobody in Seattle would take our oversized van in for a wash, and it was starting to look like a giant Chia pet with the green moss growing on top. Five star was no nonsense and took me right in. They have a decent selection of hardware and common RV parts to purchase in their retail shop. One interesting option they provide is something called the "owners club", it's a service that will rent out your RV to qualified people when you're not using it. that would probably work well for a lot of people that buy expensive rigs and only use them a few times per year. read more

Super disappointed in this place! Unethical. I reached out to rent an RV for a long weekend, requesting three day rental. I was informed of five day minimum but was pitched to TWICE from both sales and management to commit to paying for five days of usage, despite the fact that the RV would be returned after three. We recently rented a 31' RV from Five Star RV for nine days traveling round trip from Kirkland to the Redwood Forest in California. For the seven of us, the vacation and experience was fantastic and the RV performed as it should without issue. Some things we decided to do was bring our own generator, never use the A/C and limit our on-board toilet use (used 4 times max.) We purchased the VIP Gold package just so we would not need to clean/sanitize it upon return. The instruction that Jack gave us upon check-in was thorough and concise. We took pictures of everything and pointed out all minor pre-damage included expired license tabs that were immediately purchased and stuck on the plate. We returned the vehicle without cleaning it and mentioned the refrigerator wasn't cold enough. At times we would turn off the house battery to conserve the life of the battery not knowing the refrigerator would shut down, causing the issue we encountered. The check-out went smoothly, but again we took pictures of EVERYTHING and documented the problem we had with the refrigerator. Good thing we took the pictures because we were told the cleaning crew encountered a problem with the refrigerator hinge and the door falling off! We were entirely satisfied with Five Star RV. Returning our $1500 cash deposit seemed to be an issue (knocked off a star). When we returned the RV it was to be cleaned & thoroughly checked out immediately since it was being re-rented in a few hours. We were told we could not get our deposit back for two days, which seemed odd since they will know in a few short hours if everything performs satisfactorily for its next voyage. With perseverance we were able to pick up all of our cash deposit the following day. Here's a tip when you rent anything: be a good steward, take care of the vehicle as if it were your own, take before & after pictures/video's of entire vehicle in/out, and put before/after damages/issues in writing. We put our RV on consignment with Five Star in August and they told us they thought they could sell it in 90 days or less even though we were getting close to the end of the season. They sold it in about 60 days, even had the technician ride to our house to drive it in so I didn't have to be inconvenienced and found them to be fair and honest to deal with. Jack came through for us and had a brand new RV (Four Winds 23')for us to rent for our family vacation during peak season. All of the hospitality kits were rented out, but he was able to dig up a coffee maker to make my mornings better! Our kids were begging us to buy the RV, we had so much fun! It was a luxury unit, but still a fair price and extras like mileage were all discussed in advance. Jack also really helped us out by arranging to keep the RV overnight after our Friday walk through since we weren't leaving Seattle until Saturday. He and everyone at 5 Star RV were friendly and helpful. We took care of the RV like it was our own and our full deposit was refunded minus our mileage overage. We had good experiences with this RV rental place in the past. This was not a good year, we had an unfortunate experience. We requested a thorough review on generator and water usage in our initial walk-through. This was our first attempt at "dry camping" without shore power or water hook-ups available at our campground. We arrived and first night, we discovered an issue when varies alarms started sounding off. Next morning we called and were told by technical support: an inverter button had not been turned off (admitted by technician himself) during our walk-through which resulted in aux battery being completely drained. We were disappointed to learn we would have to re-charge the aux battery ourselves by running the generator for extended period of times throughout our entire camping trip. We tried and failed to re-charge battery after 7.5 hours of run time. We decided not to run generator for any length of time because it would ruin our camping experience as well as disrupt the peace and quiet in the campground. So we used the generator only as needed. Each evening was a different story. We had to start up the RV (after 9:00 PM) to re-charge the battery long enough to stop alert sound long enough to get a little sleep (it got progressively worse, requiring more frequent engine start ups to re-charge the battery and stop the alert sound). We decided to cut our RV experience short due to lack of sleep (not fun). We asked to see a representative, upon returning the RV. We were told, representatives were busy with other customers and were unable to discuss the situation. And instead, we were offered an adjustment form and told to complete and submit for review (not good customer service). In the end, we were compensated about half the amount we thought was fair. They citing it was not their fault, we did not charge battery for the extensive period of times recommended. Questionable business practice. read more

5 Star RV Center turned out to be exactly that..... 5* and I have to admit I was worried after reading some of the reviews on the internet. Things really felt dicey just a week or two before we were set to drive from SoCal to Everett and take off on a 14 day Canadian RV adventure that would be a journey of over 1600 miles! With roughly over $4,000.00 dollars on the line I was thinking the whole deal was going to fall apart! But thanks to Jack and Kristina and some great communication it all came together. This isn't a "Cruise America" type outfit.... You get a superior late model coach for a very fair price..... But I wouldn't call it cheap. The 2015 Jayco RedHawks 29XK was magnificent! Jack was thorough at pick up and meticulous on initial inspection. When you have a $1,500.00 dollar deposit on the line its in your own best interest to have someone like Jack handling it with you. Trip was spectacular no glitches or issues for the entire trip and Jasper, Lake Louise, Lake Moraine, Banff, and Sandpoint were an RVers dream! When we brought the rig back it was quick and thorough once again. Since we "babied" the unit like it was our own we didn't do any damage to the nicely appointed Jayco. Still...... Contrary to one of the reviews below this is NOT an "inside" review to attempt to offset negative reviews. I actually rented a 24 foot RV from Five Star for 3 weeks. We have never rented or driven an RV before. My experience was nothing but positive since I entered into a rental agreement with this business several months ago. I am suspicious about several very negative reviews that sound like similar rants, then an invitation to join a class action suit. Really? Sounds like one unhappy group (who all filed individual complaints to make it look like a string of unhappy customers) with an unfortunate mechanical experience and some damage they had to pay for. Read the contract, folks. That's what you are responsible for. Don't rent an RV if you don't want to risk having to pay for damage or cleaning. That said, we had NO problems with our RV, although we did take the time to read operations manuals, watch the DVD they supplied, and take care of the equipment. We ran this RV almost 2000 miles in 113 degree heat with no problems. But they are tricky. One reviewer said the fridge didn't work and they lost food....did you make sure to switch the fridge unit from battery to propane? Or put it in auto-mode? These are the small things you have to pay attention to that really are NOT the RV renters fault. The staff (everyone) was helpful, answered all of our questions, took time to show us how to run the thing, and were helpful when we returned to allow us to unload on their property for convenience. We received our $1500.00 deposit back in full. Nothing hidden or upcharged. We will be back. No question. We purchased a 2020 Northern Lite camper 10-2 from here. We actually live in Texas but received the best price from Five Star. The sales person, Bill, was so helpful on the phone and informative providing all the answers and suggestions to our questions. We had looked at them in Texas but not pleased with the dealership. Five Star staff is extremely personable and reliable. We arranged a date to pick it up and it was ready right on time. Bill understood completely we were coming from Texas. Training was efficient and percise. Very helpful, this is our second truck camper. Recently, we had a hail storm and the skylight over the bed was hit, shattering the outside dome, not the inside(thank goodness). I called the Dealer in Austin Texas and he indicated it would take at least a month to repair and the part was $1200. I contacted service at Five Star...awesome. So helpful again. Part would be around $400 dollars and a couple hours of labor. A date is set and I trust them totally. Definite place to purchase an RV or get service. read more

Went camping the same time last year and it was 106 degree's out so this year decided to get a RV from Five Star. I've read a few of the reviews here already and the same thing happened to me, they are trying to scam me out of my money/deposit. After dropping it off and everything was signed off perfect we even walked around it twice. The RV had tons of damage when picking it up. It's a 10 year old RV and worth only about 40-50k we paid around 2k to rent it plus 2k in deposits so about 10% of what the RV is actually worth. Now they are telling us we did $1500 in damage after they signed off on the RV being perfectly fine. How the hell do you not notice $1500 in damage then sign off that everything was perfect? Sounds like a manager scam to me..he obviously wanted to keep the cash deposit cause the RV had damage all over and they needed to repair it so they can rip more people off on a $40,000 RV charging people 400 per day lol. They paid off this RV 10x already and yet they are still trying to rip people off and keep deposits it blows my mind. The RV had tons holes, scratches, and stuff broken all over when picking it up now I feel like they are trying to lay it on us cause they couldn't get it on the last person or missed it. Luckily I have a family lawyer already on retainer and never get to use him, finally get a chance too. Sucks it will be to easy for him cause when i called him he made notice that they signed off in big bold letters "NO NEW DAMAGE" meaning there was nothing done to the RV by me and also it acknowledges that there was prior damage done to the RV before me picking it up. It will be to easy cause it looks so obvious they are trying to scam me and they have a long past of doing so to others. Unfair business practices will be pursued as well after talking to my him he says we will get our money back that we paid for the rental as well. The RV had tons of issues and on pickup they had a addendum saying that the generator will not work (AC as well) if it gets over 85 degree's... this is the reason we rented the RV was to avoid the heat so they left us with NO other options and they made it to where it was are only resort after they already took the deposit and charged us for the rental they broke out this sheet telling us they AC wont work when it gets hot... Why wasn't this stated before they charged me 1000's of dollars.. This had me feeling questionable about the whole ordeal from the beginning so yes we went camping in a RV in the hot summer sun where the generator/AC only worked at night and no ac during the day leaving everything inside very hot and unbearable to even be inside so it was a complete waste of money from the beginning. With all these facts it makes them look even worse and complete liars. You do not sell a car saying the AC works then after they buy it tell them the AC doesn't work when it gets hot.. That is a complete scam and VERY bad business practice. FiveStarRV you picked the wrong one i'll loose money to see you loose even more money. Hopefully you make the correct decision so future business isn't effected. You guys play very dirty so we will be also contacting BBB (Better Business Bureau) based on your decisions/actions as well. read more

This place is the worst. Don't be fooled by the conversation you have with them on the phone. They seem nice enough but that all changes when you pick up the RV. The owner Barry is a real piece of work. He tried to embarrass me in front of my family by insinuating I was taking advantage of him with the pricing he quoted me well in advance of us picking up the RV. I would have walked out then, but we had flown in, were on a tight schedule, and were out of options. The RV looked fine but after hitting the road we discovered the CD player didn't work. Then the knobs fell off the bathroom sink, the refrigerator didn't work all the time, and we noticed the carpet was covered in plastic (why have carpet then?). The toilet smelled the entire trip even though it wasn't used. Another highlight of the trip was when we had a blowout on a rear tire, while we were in the middle of nowhere. I called their office but nobody answered, left messages, no callback. I had to call AAA. The blowout was due to their faulty tire valve. Additional $280 spent. Total nightmare. Drop off the RV and they tried keeping the deposit. The whole experience was terrible and expensive. You don't get what you pay for with Barry and the crew over at 5 Star. There may be a good review here or there but those are either flukes or fabrications. Don't let these clowns ruin your vacation. read more

Customer service and mechanical support were horrible. The RV we rented was a piece of crap and most things inside the RV did not work. They charged us for damage that we did not cause (probably trying to fix their crap RV). We did not get any of our deposit back even though during the walk through they only noted a very small spot stain on one of the seats and no other damage. I will not ever go here again and would only recommend this place to someone I really do not like so they can go through the absolute horror I went through. read more

I needed the service department fix a heater problem. After taking the outside cover off we discover a bad switch and cover plate. The parts were ordered and I was kept aware of the order status. I picked up the parts, they had been pre-assembled, and the price was very, very fair. I will be using them whenever my Class A rig needs some TLC. read more

We rented a travel trailer in August 2013 for 5 days. The pick up was smooth and my Husband commented that the staff was nice and helpful. The trailer was in great condition.. it looked like it hadn't been used before. We had a good camping trip as the trailer performed as expected. The drop off of the trailer was also good. I rented a new (2015) Forrest Ridge Trailer from 5 Star RV. I went in on a Sunday and Barry handled the rental process. You need to pay attention to the process - he asks for a lot of information but I can't say I would do things differently as he's trying to protect his investment in a very expensive piece of equipment. The only two things that got added on after the fact was a rental fee for a hitch and insurance. I do not consider this an issue as I had planned to buy a hitch and I had thought I would be able to get insurance coverage through my auto insurance. Jack thoroughly explained the optional cleaning fees - they are not cheap but again, they are optional and if you don't mind cleaning, you don't need them. Jack even gave me the option of deciding on the cleaning (I do it myself or I pay) after the unit was brought back. A couple of weeks before the check-out date, Jack called me (as Barry said he would) to confirm final details. Nothing was added at this point, thanks to the discussion. Chalk this up to the thorough discussion I had during the rental process. I was told to plan for a couple of hours to check out and pick up the RV. The check-out process was thorough. I was a bit apprehensive about the damage deposit and the possibility of missing damage and then getting charges for it. 5 Star's process is thorough - not like when you rent a car, the desk clerk says the car is damage free, and then you observe all sorts of small things when you walk out to the lot to get the car. Jack handed me the check-out form and made sure even the slightest damage (there were a couple of small dings (about the size of a piece of rice) in the paint), was noted. He also made sure to note some buckling in one of the stabilizing jacks that I might have missed. He also went through every system in the trailer to make sure I understood it completely. Jack also asked if I wanted the cleaning packages but said I could decide when I got back. Notwithstanding that I was renting a new trailer (with low probability of multiple or hidden points of damage), I felt it'd be really difficult to overlook something. I feel the customer also has some responsibility in this process - open every drawer and cabinet, make sure the latches work, make sure the drawer fronts are not separating from the drawers, make sure fixtures are securely fastened to the walls (which are in some cases just 1/8" pressboard), check the mattresses and cushions for stains. Basically, inspect the RV as if you were buying it. Jack showed me how to work the hitch and then helped me adjust the brake controller for optimal braking. Then, I was on my way. The RV worked as planned. There were a couple of things that were a little odd (water heater was a bit weak and grey water tank seemed to fill up quick) but this did not take away from a positive experience. I noted this when I got back and they said they'd look into it. Before I took the trailer back, I thoroughly cleaned it. As long as you are a tidy person, this should be easy. Unless you are in a big hurry, I'd suggest cleaning the unit yourself. This involves dumping the tanks, cleaning the inside of the unit (get a bottle of 409 and a roll of paper towels and go to work), and then filling up the propane tanks. The flip side if you may need to keep the unit an extra day, but this still costs less than the cleaning fee. Check in was a breeze. Since the unit was so clean, and since I had been very detailed when filling out the check out sheet, we spent about 10 minutes checking the unit in. The check in guy (forgot his name) was friendly and thorough. We then shot the breeze for a few minutes and I was on my way. It took about two weeks to get the damage deposit back. It was a check from a local bank. It would have been nice to get it back faster, but so it goes. I also received a follow up thank you phone call. I would definitely rent from 5 Star again. read more

If you want to give your hard earned money away then this place is for you.I recently bought a very pricy rig with a few problems.I paid 1000.00 to make sure it was ready to go,Barry's words,the hot water tank leaked,the bath sink plugged,hyd. landing gear not right,outside shower leaked,wheel bearings not packed,they said they did it,slide out leaked,and paid 2000.00 for Taiwan hitch that was unsafe.He took hitch back and kept 700.00 for install,fixed hot water tank with a take out gave me sealant to fix slide out leak myself,sent my check to wrong address and was very mad at me because he was so busy.So stop on over if you like to get #$%^*#. read more

Five star took my motorhome in to add to the rental fleet, so I could get some extra income. Went ok for a while until the bogus repair bills started flowing in. Paid $1300 for a new cooling unit for the frig, to find out later it was just the board that needed replaced. No refund offered. Alot of small repairs were being done without my consent, and I was being charged for it. Barry was very good at convincing me they were necessary repairs. Was just contacted to tell me the roof needed over a thousand dollars in resealing repairs, and the propane tank had a leak at the fill gauge, which they already fixed for $130 and didn't ask me. I decided to bring it back home. Examined the propane tank, and absolutely no repairs had been done to it. Examined the roof, and besides a few cracks in the caulking around fixtures, it was fine. Found numerous scratches in the paint that needed repairs, and a light lens missing. Sent several e-mails to Barry, and never got a reply. Don't do business with this scum bag. He will rip you off!!!!! read more
