My shifter went out on my 18-speed Peterbilt while I was stuck up in the mountains between Sacramento and Reno, and I was in a bad situation trying to figure out how to get back on the road. My vehicle was towed by Five Star. Repeatedly contacted them to assure my vehicle would be safe there and explained circumstances of my life that would necessitate my vehicle remaining there a little bit longer and they assured me it was no problem. When it came time for me to get it out, they informed me they had sold it by way of a lien to a dismantler, without any notice, two months ago. There was a registered firearm inside and my dash cam shows they stole it. DMV records show they did not sell it to a dismantler at all and still have it. Yet they will not admit they have it, nor will they admit in the face of video evidence that they have my firearm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Instead, they are calling me at all hours of the night and attempting to extort me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their general manager "Tara" indicated that if I was unwilling to pay them to contact police and tell them I had an illegal firearm and that I was harassing them. I've never experienced anything like this. My car was supposed to be cared for. My firearm was not illegal. I just called to give them money when I got out of the hospital and thank them... only did you find out they had sold my vehicle, stole my firearm, but could magically produce both for the right price. To say I'm shocked would be an understatement. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have reached out in the kindest way possible and then I will reach out to law enforcement, though I hate to.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I don't know what to make of it to be honest. When asked about the code two different people gave me different codes. One was the car being abandoned and the other was missing parts. I just leave the house to go get a slide hammer to finish the last few things on my car. Then both the code enforcer and the tow truck driver did not have the same story when asked what happened. I see my damages then the tow truck driver tried to say it was like that when I picked it up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm highly disappointed in not only five star staff but from sac pd code enforcement.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I don't want to make it a race thing but I witnessed different minority groups in my neighborhood be harassed by this company and code enforcement. It's beyond unacceptable and for no one to have a correct story or explanation is just the cherry on top. My pick up got towed for parking at a no parking zone by SAC PD Went to go pickup my truck asked the lady at front desk how come it was so expensive for one day tow ,she started giving me the breakdown. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My reaction was wow.. then she continues and says, why are you asking so many questions she goes. I'm a courier and broke down twice in one week. My vehicles were trash, the weather was trash, but luckily I got great service from JON for a tow on 1/31/24. Business owner, you need people to train with this man. Not only was he good at his job of getting the vehicle up on the bed safe and fast, he's also just a friendly happy person. He made my overall experience a great one. It was raining and my vehicle (Large Cargo Van) was in a difficult place but he found a way to get it out. I felt like it was almost fun for him to try to figure it out. Cracking jokes the entire time making me laugh while it's pouring rain and he's covered in dirty mud water. Do your best to keep this guy on board. I was lucky to have him on a crappy day. Overall from my fleet roadside service call to getting dropped off to my end location about 3 hours total. Cheers JON! I've only ever had one other experience with a tow yard before 5 star and let me tell you they were very different. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The team at 5 Star Towing (specifically the 4600 Power inn location) were professional, kind and quick to help me out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They didn't damage my bike at all when transporting it and had it conveniently parked near the front entrance ready for me to pick it up when I got there. So I ordered a tow through my insurance agent, they gave me an estimate of 45 - 60 minutes arrival time. After 1 hour 10 minutes I called my agent to find their location. They told the Agent they didn't have the drivers to do the job. Great customer service, way to keep everyone informed. I wouldn't call then because they most likely won't show. Had to get car towed after a car hit my car while it was parked outside my apartment complex, the police called a tow company and these people showed up, told us that they were going to tow my car and I had 5 mins to find someone else to tow it before he was going to. Then when I asked the officer he softed up and said he never said I only had 5 mins. These people are SUPER shady and are willing to lie straight to your face just so they can tow your car. read more

Do not use this place! They dropped my car with a forklift and refuse to pay for the damages. They change their insurance frequently and my claim was denied because "they said they did not do it." Even with a police officer present at the time of the tow, noting no prior damage to my vehicle, they still refuse to take responsibility for the extensive damages including 2 huge forklift marks on the side doors, destroyed bumper and alignment issues. I've been battling them for over a year with no resolve besides them offering to refund my tow fee, which they later retracted. Ive never had a single person return my phone calls or emails. Run the other way! I'd call this place One Star Towing at best. read more

I see I am not the first person to give Five Star's office manager, Diana and tow truck driver, Tabatha 5 Yelp stars. My car was stolen a month ago. Devastating. Then Sac City police found my car. They had me go to the yard on Power Inn Rd. My car was a wreck, a total loss. Everything inside and outside was either stolen or broken. These women made a terrible experience bearable.
