This is a long overdue review. We went to get our driver's seat leather panel fixed in 2022, and I'm happy to say that the seat is still in good condition in 2024. Great quality and fast service! Our driver's seat had a small tear that gradually got bigger with wear and tear. Luckily, the tear stayed within the one panel. I called Five Star Upholstery and they were able to squeeze us in and got the work done within the day. Everyone there is really friendly and nice, and you can tell that they are busy with work and are dedicated to getting things done. It's been a while so I don't quite remember how much we paid for the seat repair, but it was leather and I remember it being a reasonable amount. But at any rate, the seat is still in good condition after 2 years, so I think that's a great value! read more

Worse customer service from the old Korean Lady who owns the shop. She better be glad Ive grown a whole lot! This place is very unprofessional and the old Korean lady lies about everything it's a very low budget business. Never again will I return. I went to get a radio installed she begged me for a deposit and asked me to come back the following morning at 8:30am. I get there about 8:15am. the worker says he can't start til she gets there. She comes in at 9:30am asking do i need help The guy put the radio within 10 minutes great... but then notice he doesn't know how to program it, and sits there tapping the screen for a additional hr the sits the radio on the middle console and go sits down. When i questioned if he was done he said yes. I had to ask, "so you not gone mont the radio? :.. now she wants to charge me an additional $50 for time after she was a hr late and her worker waisted a hr playing with buttons. I told her id pay her the original price but not the extra. She locked me in her shop. I had to call the police just to get out. Unfortunately i still paid her for a radio thats not properly installed ‍ worst experience ever! Took everything in me not go get ignorant! read more

OK so let's drop in for a roll of reviews today !! Best of the Bay , starts with five star Upolstery for today. First and foremost we had to get a interior rooftop head liner for a 2000 Toyota Camry one of seven Toyotas I own or have owned It is very important that we restore this over 200,000 mile Toyota Camry to its luxurious new buy state of being . the time of purchase. The headliner is not the most difficult job, BUT it's the hand that makes it bond and finished - always look at the specific details, here we go; Upolstery or bonding : a particular type of stitching your examples; Crosstitch or a stitch and turn or a roll and stitch down or double cross, or a triple down stitch. we can get into this you can ask a question I'll let you know how it goes with headliners turn and tuck with a bonding agent. important thing here is warranties because bonding does come off in time and once the bonding is falling off or let's say detaching from because of heat or cold that's when your warranty comes in the place especially on the front window or the rear windows. You must look if you get a chance at the headliner placed up before the other accessories are placed back on such as the visors the handles any other plastic bases because if the headliner is cut too wide or too too big it will tear and it will show and there you go out the door another you know the headliner has to be replaced again and you can't fix that. My experience with five star upholstery ; the price was low it was pretty much what it should be for a replaceable flocking type material sheet . $20 for that piece, the entire top piece , but it was all complete under $200 for the headliner the color matching. I posted many photos and the manager / lady was very nice and we got it done within a couple hours. Now it's about how that piece holds up as we continue the restoration. read more

Sorry. . I think I made the worst mistakes to tint my front windows on my new car here. My driver side moulding was burnt and also both my front door panel , the soft touch area are all melt to flat..the lady also use paper towel to dry my car which make scratch on the clear coat If is old car, I would not mind much..but is new car..the installers should have put a cover on the door panel before they started working on it. Anyway..very regret.. read more

It took the lady owner 3 & a half hours to tent my Honda sedan. It had lots of bubbles in it once it was done so I asked that she take it off & do it again. That cost me more time. While I wanted soo long 3 different customers were upset with her because she started working on the cars but didn't finish. I miss wouldn't recommend this place at all. read more

i wouldn't recommend this company. very unsanitary, they dont put cover on the doors to protect the splash of the water, so messy. my back logo was accidentally scrap by the sharp object they use in cutting the film cover. i should have scout a better tint company, didn't do my homework well, very disappointed. read more

This place should change their name to ONE star. I've seen the place open for years and I thought it would be a decent place to install window tint on my brand new Tesla. The job was not all that great. There were several tiny bubbles in the tint that never went away. When I informed the owner who is the older Asian lady, she told me to come back. Her attitude was not apologetic; she just said, "Come back early Thursday." Then I discovered that my charger lid was scratched up from the tool belt she wore while helping the installer fit the tint on my back window. Anyway, I returned to have several windows redone. There garage has really bad lighting, so i couldn't tell if the re-do was to my satisfaction. A week later, I'm sitting in my car and looked back to grab my purse and noticed scratches in the tiny side windows. I guess the tool scratched up the newly replied tiny. At this point, I'm debating if I should even go back. The installer was nice, but his work sucks. The Asian lady, is not professional and very dismissive to complaints, yet she begged for the job. Smh This is what I get for not shopping around. In the picture u can't see the scratches on my charger lid, but they're there. I would not recommend this place for anything, not even upholstery. The owner only wants the money, but doesn't aim for quality work. She needs to be reported to the better business bureau. read more

A decade ago, this place was owned by others and provided quality work at reasonable prices. My, how things have changed. When I first bought my Z3, I came here to inquire about several upholstery options. The new owner went over what she can have done. Specifically, I was looking to touch up some imperfections along the inside of the car, as well as get some custom work done on the soft top. The work on the soft top was actually reasonable ($200), and it came out perfect. Also, there was some faulty wiring with the stereo, but they fixed it for $30, and there was no issue thereafter. Their window tint came out pretty good as well, and I paid around $250. That was the good, now for the bad. Another item I inquired about was a center console. I've seen it in other Z3s, but mine did not come with it. The owner claimed that she can order it and have it installed for $500. When I did my own research, I found that it sold for $60 and it clicked on. I asked about replacing the seat belt holders along the outer edges of the two seats, and they claimed it was going to be about $400 to do that. Again, unreasonable. Later on, I brought my asian import to ask about fixing some upholstery. They wanted to charge me $500 for something that (again) simply clicked back on and was largely unnoticeable. That was bad, the worse part was the owner trying to hen peck me. Really, lady? Are we married? You don't hen peck your customers about giving you business. The work I did have done here was pretty good, but the up charging and shenanigans they tried pulling afterward now has me going elsewhere for upholstery and window tint. read more

This is a car glass, stereo, and upholstery place. I came here to get my car tinted. They only have one type of tint film (Johnson window film) in 5%, 15%, 20%, 35%, and 50%.. so if you are looking for some fancy formula 1 ceramic tint, this is probably not your place. They did the job for cheap, and it took about an hour. I noticed a problem with the back window tint and they agreed to redo it. They seemed unfocused and distracted while they did the tint job, chatting and joking with nearby guys who were working on car upholstery. All in all, the job was finished, I paid and left. On my drive back, I saw a scratch in my tint on the drivers side. ugh. But other than that, no other problems.. read more

Public service announcement! Please I repeat PLEASE do not come here to get your Windows tinted! Or upholstery. Or Any business that the Korean lady offers. They have a sign outside that says $99& up but none of their jobs are $99 I got quoted $120 for my 2016 camaro to get 5% all around. the quarter panel windows don't even count as a window for they are so tiny. I came here because it was nearby and I'm a busy person. I waited 2 hours when it was done the Korean lady rushes to get me to pay. When I am about to pay she says that because I'm paying with card I owe $130 with tax included. As I walked around to inspect MY CAR she was trying to rush me out of the shop. The window tint has so many bubbles you have to wait 1 week for them to go away when I waited a whole week I noticed the film didn't stick to the defroster and there were a lot of bubbles in the rear. I came back and asked if they can re do the rear tint. The lady automatically gets defensive and tries to convince me that it is normal it is just dirt from the outside. Long story short I made hem redo the rear and when it was done I was pointing out the flaws that were there still. The lady sighs and goes ," stop being picky the job is done" I repeated ," I am a paying customer and I have every right to be picky it's my car and I paid for you to do it right." She gets angry and starts talking about me in Korean to some other men that were there. She's the owner and she behaves worse than a McDonald's employee. Please don't go here if you don't want to deal with the ghetto old lady and if you do go here get your tint done by the young Hispanic guy he's the only one who seems to have his head screwed in right. STAY AWAY FROM THE OLD KOREAN MAN. He will make a mess inside your car and doesn't know how to properly do tint. read more

A friend suggested getting my car windows tinted here, and the price was good ($120 cash). Unfortunately the price was the only good thing that came from this experience, and with that said, I'd rather have paid more and gone elsewhere for quality work. Upon returning to pick up my car - which I was never notified as promised when it was done - I had to call and check back after hours had passed and still no news of completion. There were bubbles on my rear passenger windows. I was told they would disappear, give it a week. The owner, Alice, claimed they have been in business 26 years and know what they are doing.. hmm. I gave it a week as asked. Turns out the bubbles shrank but still never went away. In the meanwhile, other issues surfaced. Immediately upon returning home with the car, I got out and noticed black, sticky smudges on my beige leather seat. NOT fun to clean. The biggest issue, however, was realizing the weather stripping on all four windows was tucked under on the inside of the car window. This caused the tinting to become scratched when I rolled down the windows for the first (and subsequent times). I am a working mother with a busy schedule, so going back to have the tints redone was a huge inconvenience. A week later, I did go back in. Alice was giving me a bit of attitude and thought the scratches were insignificant. I explained that the weather stripping needed to be fixed on all 4 windows and she seemed to have a hard time understanding me. I also explained that THEIR failure to reassemble my windows correctly has now caused the scratching issue. She tried to tell me I rolled them down too soon after the tinting was done. I did wait the 3 days as instructed, so I was quite offended to have her blame me for what was their mistake/incompetency. She reluctantly took the car back to redo the tinting. A man named Sam, I believe, was the one to do the actual work. I went back to pick up the car, again, a bundle of nerves as to what I would find. No more bubbles on the back window, and overall it was better than round one. There were a few little boo-boos that I chose to overlook because they were quite minor and I wanted to leave this place and never come back again! As I recalled from the first time, the windows were wiped down with some horrible smelling solution that made it reek in my car. Bleh. That was a long drive home. read more

My Car needed a New Windshield so I asked around and many people said, go to Five Star on Normandie Blvd near Rosecrans. So, I called and was greeted by Alice. A lady, I thought, but she understands her profession and I found out that she has been doing this for over 30 years. So, I went in and with her careful guidance ended up with replacing the glass, but also having my windows tinted and having some repair some wear on my seats. It's a one stop shop. They are very professional and efficient. It is hard to find this kind of business now a days. I hope she keeps going for another 30 years.... read more

My car flooded and I needed it removed and cleaned and they took care of me ... took it out hand cleaned it and got out all of the water. Shampoo and dry ... Fix the holes at the bottom of the car... at no charge. Only thing is they quoted me 2 days n i waited 3 and had something put in wrong but they fixed it before I left. read more

I got my my dashboard replaced here since it had cracked (perhaps bc of sun damage?). they had to order some parts but it only took a day. i was super paranoid everytime i looked at the crack cuz i felt like the passenger side air bags might pop so glad I got it replaced!! also got the drivers side sun visor thing replaced since the hinge wasnt working properly the waiting area is not the best... kinda dirty but prices were good from my POV and they were able to order the parts I needed quicker than one other place I checked out. read more

Wow! I'm really impressed with the work these guys do! Alan and his team work really hard to make sure all customers are happy and satisfied. I recently went in to have a sound system installed in my vehicle and when I went in they had two other vehicles who were being worked on before mine so I had to wait about 20-30 minutes which is not bad at all and then they got started on mine. They did a lot of wiring and a neat job, NOT messy. It did take quite a while When they were working on my car but ill tell you what, it was definitely WORTH the wait. The quality of work They did is great! It also sounds awesome. If you need any sound work, tint work, and more, look no further these are the guys to go to. They do any electrical related work not just sound systems. I go here for all my sound system/electrical needs and I leave with a huge smile! I really recommend this place to everyone.
