Updating our review as we have now visited a number of times and keep coming back as we are impressed with the service, specials, and menu. One of our new favorites is the Nashville chicken flatbread (all flatbreads and bottles of wine half price on Wednesday's). The outdoor patio is also awesome for when the weather is nice! We just stopped in tonight and happened to be there for their 10th birthday so they were handing out promotions and we each got a certificate for free appetizers as our prize! Will be back soon!

The food, ambiance, service and location was excellent! Our only critique is the Southwest Egg Rolls lacked chicken. It tasted like a cream cheese egg roll. There was no texture of chicken at all. The flavor was good but it would have been nice to see and taste the chicken. We would definitely revisit when in town.

I had the beer battered walleye burger with garlic fries and the chef's choice soup. Came in here out of curiosity since I've tried their catering once and salmon was good. The food came out quickly and the servers were pretty quick to come out with water. The garlic fries were nice and crispy though the garlic came in a few clumps so I liked adding them to the walleye burger since there wasn't as much aoli which I felt could have been put on the top bun to add a little more flavor. However the walleye was very crispy and soft inside and the fries also paired well with the soup which definitely hit the spot on a cold winter day! Definitely would probably come here with fr next time and not alone (a little awkward otherwise) but it was nice to check out when hungry. A little pricey but somewhat expected for restaurants in this area and still filling overall. The restaurant is dimly lit overall but I think that's typical for kitchen + bar restaurants and there are lots of candles and overhead lighting.

Not far from the Mayo campus and next to a Comfort Inn and Suites, so we just walked here. Wednesdays they have several drinks specials and half price bottles of wine and $8 flatbreads. We got a bottle of wine and both got salads. They were huge! I got the Blacked Chicken Quinoa Salad and my mom got the Cherry Almond Apple Salad and added chicken. We also did the $3 bread with a garlic herb butter and maple bourbon butter. Both were great with the 3 warm rolls. Our waiter was very thorough and polite. We sat outside, which was a little warm but cooled down as the sun went down. It seems like the spot to be for happy hour. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area!

Travel day on the way to a family vacation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We booked a room for the night at Sleep Inn and Suites and I noticed Five West was very busy almost next door. We were in a "let's start our vacation" mood so we went and checked it out. I was afraid they were so busy we would be waiting awhile. But they seated the 3 of us directly. We looked at the menus. Friday and Saturday are supposed to be a Prime Rib special, but when our server introduced herself she mentioned they were out already (7:30 Friday night). I would have likely splurged on it for myself but I checked on the rest of the menu. I decided to order the double pork chops with potatoes and spinach. My son had the steak fettuccine, with a filet over pasta and vegetables, and my wife had the chicken and waffles with maple and bourbon syrup. We also ordered the calamari appetizer but ate it before I was able to get a picture. Everything tasted delicious. The pork chops had a lot of red onions in the sauce on the potatoes and the sauce was a little spicy. The pork was obviously smoked and then grilled but very moist on the inside. Our service was very good and timely. I suggest going to Five West for great food and a good atmosphere. Just be a little early.

We love 5 West! The ambiance is fabulous inside and out. You can't go wrong with either seating choice. We really love the patio and they are dog friendly. The calamari is a favorite as well as the flatbreads. Great salads and their Friday night prime rib is solid for the price. Service and cocktails are always impeccable and they have a nice wine selection.

We arrived just before 5pm on a Monday and good thing we did because the place filled up quickly. The service was good and the food was even better. We will definitely be back when we come to town next time.

Stellar service, great food--this place really has it all for a lovely date night escape! We were seated right away, and throughout our visit, our server Nikki B. took great care of us. She was so genuinely friendly, we ended up having a nice laugh and brief chat every time she came around. As a cider-lover, I was delighted to see Cider Boys on tap, and my husband enjoyed trying two different beers. We'd just barely made the cut off to order before happy hour ended, too. I ordered the margherita flatbread; it was really good, in large part because it included a luscious, thick layer of cheese. My husband had the parmesan walleye dinner, which he really enjoyed. I think the only nitpick I can offer is that the high-ceilinged environment was rather loud, even though it wasn't packed with people (though it was sure starting to fill up as we left). I was glad that I could sit next to my husband at our table so that we could talk. We were left with a high impression of the delicious food and the kind service. We'd definitely eat here again.

Celebrated "Mustang Johnny's" Retirement with 21 close friends and family. We arrived at 300pm and were promptly seated and Amanda K. started serving us. We were all over the menu with appetizers and entrees from steak fettuccine to southwest egg rolls, several chicken choices and 4 different kinds of craft burgers. All the food received rave reviews and was served hot to order, plated and presented perfectly. We also had our favorite brussel sprouts and szechuan cauliflower. The mixologists made a variety of different drinks and even a cranberry crush margarita for me. Our thanks to Ruark, manager, Nick, executive chef and staff and Amanda for the top-flight service. A memorable night indeed.

Just wanted a bit more sauce. The salmon was cooked well with a crispy skin underneath. Flavors played together nicely with the textures. We enjoyed the dessert as the textures (there's a theme here) had great interplay with the flavors in the dish. Only wish that pastry was hot. The ambience is nice and chill. It can feel a bit cramped but gives kinda a speakeasy vibe meets hipster. Note that finding parking is a bit challenging here. There are two booths on the window that would make excellent date spots. The reason for the rating is due to the service. I made a reservation for the spot and made reference to it being our anniversary. However, nothing was done to reference the reason for the dinner. I had never been there and didn't know about the booth availability. The place was busy but we didn't get much attention (menus were left on the table, didn't get small plates to eat the Drummies properly, got one refill of water toward the end, etc). I felt bad about this rating because I've read people enjoying the experience. However, this is what I experienced. The food is great. Service could be better.

A tasty choice (check out the photo). Then I asked for a reuben sandwich with a side of fries. I really liked the two-tone rye bread. There was modest amount of corned beef. Notice I didn't say 'generous.' The kraut, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing were a solid compliment. BUT the fries.... Check out the photo and look at the fries. These were double dunked in oil, greasy and sogged out, slightly charred, and meh tasting. I looked over at another patron's plate of food and saw her fries looked perfect. Golden, single dunk in oil, and crisp. Can I add a sad face emoji here? I called over the bartender and had him look at my fries, then look at the other patron's, and tell me the difference. He saw what I saw. I told him what was wrong with mine and asked why. He apologized and said he'd take 50% off my food bill. I saw him go back to the kitchen and have a conversation about my fries, which I appreciated. He didn't blow me off and let the kitchen know they dropped the ball.
