I ended up paying a little over $1200 for the diagnosis which also included a charge of $250 for spark plugs, $250 for radiator coolant flush and $250 for brake fluid flush. The technicians diagnosed the problem as a knock and I needed to replace the engine but with nothing to back up their diagnosis. I went to another shop and got the same diagnosis, again, with the same diagnosis and nothing to back up or guide me to the problem. Finally, I called Angel Car Medic (via Yelp) and got a very detailed diagnostic report including cylinder pressures. They pulled the spark plugs and showed me how bad they were - even after just being replaced. Long story short, the diagnosis Christian Brothers provided was correct but they charged way too much for the other services. I was so stupid to select them for this!

My 2013 VW Beetle Convertible had what looked like a serious window leak during a massive rainstorm and on top of that my brake light was out. The dealership couldn't even see me until Thursday! (Today is Monday). Grayson got me in today. He and his master mechanic Tommy personally took a hose to my car to diagnose the leak with no runaround. As it turns out, it wasn't the catastrophic leak I feared. At the same time, Tommy replaced my brake light quickly and efficiently. And, Grayson took great care of me- without a doubt amazing and straight up outstanding customer service. All my problems are resolved. Whew!!!! This is the best customer service I've ever gotten from any auto service business. Let me first say…read morethat my dealership told me I needed new brake pads almost a year ago and that I needed to get it done soon or I would need to replace the rotors, as well. They sent me pictures from the technician and gave me a description of each worn brake pad. At that time I didn't have the money they quoted me, and since then I've been driving around worried about mechanical issues and the money it would cost to get the work done. Recently, I realized I needed new tires, so I went to Sun and got a quote for new tires, brake pads, and a new TPM for the front passenger side. The cost of the brake pads, plus labor quoted at Sun was $2K cheaper than my dealership. I made arrangements to bring my car in today and they arranged a ride to take me back to work, which they paid for. A couple hours later they called to let me know I didn't need new brake pads and they still had about 60% life in them. They suggested replacing all four TPM'S, and I agreed. When I went to pick up my car, the cost for four new quality tires, all new TPM's, and an oil change was less than $1200. I will never return to my dealership and I will only do business with Sun Auto, as long as they keep up their epic service. I saved thousands of dollars today thanks to these guys.
