Went over there on Monday around 3:30 pm Ordered the Rasta pasta and the fried jerk wings w/fries. Pasta had really good flavor but was over cooked. I ordered a small and it came in a burger/like container and was plenty full. The jerk fried wings had no jerk flavor at all but were very good fried wings. Fries were pretty good also. Overpriced but still a good tasting bird. Waited 35 minutes when I was told 15. That's why the 3 stars. It was empty when I placed my order but they had a lot of online orders. Uppa Yard. Pepperpot. Jerk 76. Jamaican Season Island. Irie Palace. Island Jam (rip). I've tried them all and, to me, Fiyahside has the best jerk chicken in Milwaukee. The chicken is moist, has excellent jerk flavor from its dry rub, and has the perfect amount of heat, which is exactly what jerk chicken should have. Best of all, you can order just the chicken by itself without sides like cabbage or rice and beans that take up room in your stomach for precious chicken. I didn't love the jerk chicken egg roll (Pepperpot's is my favorite), but that's ok cause I'm fine just ordering chicken by itself. The new location at 7434 W Capitol is much more convenient than the old one on Villard and it has a large dining area and bar to sit at if you're able to dine in. I hate to leave this review, however since their relocation to 74th Cap, they have been "hit or miss!!!" Another day they missed the mark!! This is about the 3-4th time my food have been warm to cool from leaving the restaurant to arrive home 3 blocks away, once again---Luke warm to COOL food!!! We are paying for a service & expect fresh food, now fresh excuses!!! I CAN NOT eat cool/cold food & neither do I microwave my food! My passing on this plate is "good news" to those around me who will treasure what I was about to trash!!! I had the egg rolls from this place; both the chicken and the shrimp and I thought they were really good. They are definitely spicy and flavorful. If you don't like spicy food, I would not recommend eating the egg rolls. I had a friend pick up the egg rolls for me. I will definitely be going to this restaurant to check it out myself and/or ordering from this place again. read more

Finding authentic Caribbean food in the Milwaukee area has been a challenge. I spotted Fiyahside restaurant while driving by on Villard Ave. The restaurant is in the same parking lot as a gas station. It's takeout only with a small waiting area that can hold about 5 people. The food was ready, hot, and the service was reasonably quick. Ordered a jerk egg roll and mini jerk chicken platter. The egg roll contained more filler than meat but overall tasted ok. The jerk chicken was good with the right amount of spice. I'm glad I got jerk sauce on the side bc it was thick and unpleasantly sweet. Unlike any jerk sauce I've ever had in the past. The rice was really sweet (like a little too much coconut milk) but was moist and well cooked. Cabbage was ok. I've lived in the Caribbean and eaten tons of island food. Theirs wasn't the best but also wasn't the worst. I would probably stop in again to try something else. read more

service was terrible. walked in and no one spoke to us. we had to ask where we should sit and when we did that the lady at the bar said we had an "attitude" when we asked respectfully. then as we were looking at the menu she asked about 3x if we were ready to order within a 5 minute time span. would not recommend. read more

Yesterday 1/19 I placed an order through DoorDash which is my first time ever eating from this restaurant I heard great things about this location, but when I got my food, my chicken was burnt it had the most disgusting taste to it. I've never had burnt jerk chicken until yesterday, the rice and peas taste like they came out of a box The cabbage was really good, I would never ever eat from this supposedly Jamaican restaurant ever again in my life. It's a no go for me. I would stay with the Upper Yard or the jerk location on Teutonia if you want something close to the authentic jerk cuisine. read more

Nope! Not good. The rice and beans are bland and taste funny, cabbage has no flavor and seems undercooked. As far as the chicken in the eggrolls, it was not seasoned and just didn't taste good. The food was terrible. This was by far the worst Jamaican food I ever had and the most upsetting $40 I ever spent. The jerk chicken was so dry and the sauce was definitely not authentic- it was more like a thick sweet and sour/bbq sauce. I will say I give them 1 star because the curry chicken was edible but they gave me a dash off curry sauce. The portion size was mostly just beans and rice. Everything I've had as been AMAZING and they give HUGE portions! I wish they had beef patties though.

Tried this place for the first time yesterday. I was doubtful because the only other place I had eatin Jamaican was upper yard. Decided to give this place a go since it was only 3 blocks from my house and the other place always has an hour wait and never answers the phone. decided to keep it simple and just go with the jerk chicken and red beans and rice. Both were very good. The jerk seemed to be more seasoned and a lil spicer than the other place, which I'm not mad at at all. The rice and beans were good as well. My only complaints were the jerk sauce seems to be a lot sweeter which I didn't really like and seemed to be a lot more small bones while eating it so do be careful. I would recommend giving it a try tho. Don't be put off by the location or the fact it's adjacent to a gas station. The jerk is authentic and I hear they got some bomb Mac and cheese, gonna give it a shot next time for sure. There is practically no wait time and the and the prices are slightly better then the other too. Nice portions, I ordered a small and it was plenty for 1 could have fed 2 if need be. I'm looking forward to hearing what others think since my Jamaican cuisine experience is limited. But yeah it's faster and cheaper than the other place if nothing else. Give it a try read more

I have tried a wide range of Jamaican Restaurants in Milwaukee and I have to say of all the restaurants (Uppa Yard, Irie Palace, Pepper Pot, etc;) this was the best in my opinion. I said in my opinion...but to each its own. I ordered 3 small jerks, 1 mini curry, 2 jerk eggrolls and a Kola Champagne. I did not get a chance to try the curry chicken because my boyfriend...(who said the food was "aight") ate it up!!! (He drives me crazy with that). Anyways, I will be back and definitely would choose eating here over Uppa Yard (trees and bones in the meat, rice and beans...ewww), Pepper Pot (trees and bones and the eggrolls were soggy by the time they got home), Irie Palace (bad customer service, bad attitudes, unable to reach them by the phone and the food is 1 star at best). Please go here if you want some really good seasoned Jerk Chicken and if you are tired of going on a scavenger hunt for tree branches and bones in the rice and beans and eggrolls. read more
