I went here for lunch 5 months ago and I was bothered by the place having no one in it so I grabbed a menu and left thinking they needed some time to get going. Today I returned for breakfast at 8:20am which is late for me and once again there is no one in the place. The menu is not one of those phone book huge ones and is on the small simple side with the basics. The place looks like it was a typical Greek breakfast restaurant at one time with booths, tables and a lunch counter. I would get the meat lovers skillet because those can good with ham, bacon and sausage. I should have known that being $2 less than most other places that it would be skimpy. The real glass for the ice water was nice as well as cloth napkins. My skillet came with two eggs and sourdough toast. The sunny side eggs were perfect while the sourdough toast was not the best example. The skillet had shredded white slightly undercooked potatoes which had no crisp or golden color like they were not even cooked on a flat top grill. The meat was diced on the small side and sprinkled on top of the mound of shredded potatoes and a mild white cheese was melted on top. None of the meats stood out like how some places you go that's good bacon or sausage. Overall I can see why the place is empty because my breakfast was super average and this is no destination breakfast place at all. Frankie's gets catered to building at work at through Fooda. I have basically been getting people to follow me to try it once and then they are hooked. All I have to say is, whether it be the ribs or the chicken, I pick it up from the bone and the meat falls right off of it. It should be illegal how tender and tasty the food is. The cabbage is delicious as well, and the plantains are an awesome dessert. The only issue I have with this place is that it's too far from me and I only get to have it once a month. read more

The new location just opened on MKEs Eastside mid May 2022. My wife and I decided to stop in and try it. Wow! Both of our plates were delicious...surprisingly delicious given our experience with comparable restaurants here in MKE. The meats are good quality cuts, seasoned nicely, and extremely tender. I had the jerk shrimp dinner; my wife enjoyed the suya beef plate. We had a wonderful first encounter with Frankie's and I look forward to eventually tasting everything on their menu. I tried this for the first time via Fooda at work. The Hawaiian ribs were EXCELLENT, but unfortunately this wasnt available when I tried to order via uber eats. I opted for the jamaican jerk chicken (sauce on the side because spicy isnt my friend). The chicken was juicy and well seasoned. Loved the plantains - these were the highlight. We tried Frankies tonight for the first time. We ordered the Jamaican Jerk Chicken dinner and a Fish Fry with potato pancakes and took it to go. Our food was fantastic! The beer batter on the fish was good, the potato pancakes were amazing...probably the best that I've had! My husband absolutely loved his jerk chicken with rice and the plantains. We both loved the chicken noodle soup that came with both dinners (they also had clam chowder) and portions were great size AND very reasonably priced. I can't wait to try other menu items and their brunch buffet. Seriously, give this place a try if you're out this way, SO good and very friendly! (This is a review of Frankie's "Fooda" pop-up lunch counter at the Milwaukee Center building and NOT for Frankie's actual brick-and-mortar establishment in Oak Creek.) I ordered the Hawaiian baby back ribs and the results were not good. The sauce had a great flavor, but the meat was very dry and tough. I'd still like to give the restaurant a try though, because everybody deserves a second shot and I believe supporting local businesses is important. read more

Finally found a good Sunday brunch in Oak Creek! The deets: We've been here twice now, once for a Sunday brunch and once for breakfast. Both times the service was _outstanding_ and the food was very good. The only things we didn't like are 1) the location -- it's not in the "main" Oak Creek area, so if you don't know what you're looking for you're unlikely to find it and 2) the breakfast and lunch menus are a little small. Not tiny or limiting, but a little smaller than I think most people are used to now. That said: The all-you-can-eat brunch buffet was simple but included all of the basics (scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, house potatoes, french toast, fruit, etc.) and some nice "extra" items (Hawaiian bbq ribs, jollof rice, chicken, fried plantains, and more). Plus, it also included made-to-order omelettes, waffles, and pancakes from the kitchen. I had waffles and they were tasty. When we went for breakfast, we both had the spinach and goat cheese omelette (I think it's called "The Heart Healthy?" -- it has more than spinach and goat cheese, I just can't think of what else is in there at the moment), and it was very good. Served with toast and a side of potatoes w/ onions and green peppers. Ample portion and great flavor with lots of fresh ingredients. Good coffee too! A family-owned business run and staffed by a family originally from Ghana, they also offer Caribbean and West African dishes for lunch and dinner, we just haven't been able to try them yet. It's not often that you find a restaurant that is able to provide authentic African cuisine that is accessible to a wider population. Frankie's has successfully done that! They've kept the menu simple but with the right mix of cuisines. The food is well prepared and very tasty. They have the basics covered - jollof rice, plantains and stew. Try the jerk Tilapia! Smart move in also catering to American cuisine. Service is attentive and the atmosphere is quietly inviting. I strongly recommend to anyone who wants an entry point into African cuisine. The food here is amazing! You don't get food like this in or around Milwaukee service is slow but it was well worth the wait. We will be back many times. Tried this place for the first time tonight!! My grandparents recommended it! The staff are so warm, engaging, and kind!! I tried the jerk chicken which was so tender and flavorful!! And their plantains were amazing!!! Best part was the carrot cake (made in house), it was so delicious!!!! If you are looking for a new place to try in the oak creek area, I highly recommend them!!!!! We live down the road and drive by all the time and figured we'd give it a try. The roadside diner type looking places can be questionable sometimes but we were pleasantly surprised. My husband is a huge fan of jerk chicken so when he saw they served Caribbean food, he was itching to try the place. We went on a Thursday night around 6pm. The place was pretty empty but it's only been open a little while. After reading the menu we learned the owners have actually been in the catering business for 4-5? years and decided to open a restaurant. Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about our experience. The food was all very good, especially the jerk chicken!! The jerk chicken was very tender and fell right off the bone. They have many unique menu options, food you can't get anywhere else. My husband and I went there for the first time this morning, and we will be returning. We have driven by several time, and as Steven T said there have never been an abundance of cars in the lot, but that is because the people have not given it a try. The staff was attentive, an very kind about us sharing a plate. We had their TLC skillet. It was very good, and plenty of food. Enough that we bought some home. The other thing that we enjoyed was the music. It was some nice lite jazz and it was at a level that allowed us to have a conversation. We are certainly going to return and take some friends. And we will be giving some gift certificates for Christmas. So those who read these reviews, don't just make your decision about stopping because there are not a lot of cars in the parking lot. WOW! Loved this place, the food was delicious and flavorful, all homemade and inexpensive. Came here around 8pm on Friday night a couple of weeks ago because we had seen it driving by. We like ethnic food and like to support local businesses.We were greeted by the owner when we walked in and again when we left, he was extremely friendly and invited us to come back and try their weekday lunch buffet and Sunday brunch. Which we definitely will do! To start, we ordered the friend plantains, my favorite! I had the Tunga chicken (cooked on the bone with African spices) and my husband had the specialty African beef dish (can't remember what it was called) very flavorful almost curry like seasoning? I really enjoyed my dish, but wish I had ordered what my husband got and he felt the same about mine! Both dishes came with soup/salad, vegetable rice, and a really good cooked cabbage and veggie sautee. Yums! All in all, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 drinks later or bill was only $32! Went there for lunch today to give it a try. The service was on the slow side considering there were only 3 tables occupied during the lunch rush (12p). After placing our order we noticed the waiter made a plate of food and ate at the counter... which is fine, but when he brought our food it was not piping hot like you would expect with only 3 tables of customers - Very likely we were victims of his lunch break during our lunch. Additionally, our waiter brought out 2 of the 3 plates and didn't come back with the 3rd until after he checked in with another table. Who does that? I'm a big jerk spice fan - The jerk shrimp was flavorful, but not very spicy like it was suggested to be. The food wasn't bad, but this place needs to work out a few issues before I would consider coming back. read more

Rawson Ave is a tough road for a restaurant and NOBODY will ever replace Bricklers Fine After Bar Dining I grew up with in Oak Creek. Drunks and cops could all be seen dining together at 2am on Violets Vittles. That restaurant is now Vivere italian Resturant just to the east. They are in another review. My first time there after it opened I had biscuits and gravy as it is tough to find a good recipe. It was OK but could have used more sausage and it was somewhat cool side. I mentioned the cool thing. Second time I brought friends and mentioned it again. The third time my friends and I had the breakfast buffet which was. delicious and affordably priced. It was on the cool side again. I have been back a couple times and now ask that they heat up my plate before serving. I have noticed that the traffic has subsided since opening. I recently went there for a fish fry which was very disappointing and I will leave it at that. I love the jerk chicken and roasted veggies. One other thing that bothers me about restaurants is the cleanliness or lack there of. Frankies' my problem is with the temperature of the food basically.On down times people should be wiping of table condiments and containers. Nothing worse than grabbing a salter or catsup bottle that slips out of yur hand . The other big complaint is dirty windows or smelly crapers. While I have not been in yur crapper yur windows need cleaning. This kind of stuff is easily rectifiable and unnecessary and make one wonder what the kitchen is like. Since yur opening I have watched traffic dwindle. You have potential. One last thing, and this is characteristic of all restaurants, is that brewed tea should not be kept in plastic containers as it imparts a foul taste, thus I drink water. I have tried to give this place a chance twice and it had failed me twice. The first time they closed the entire restaurant to leave to cater an event. So we weren't able to order then, they asked everyone to leave. Today was the second time, I tried to order and they took my order and my money and then asked if I could pick it up instead of delivering it. They said they didn't have a delivery driver.
