I cannot say ENOUGH about Fizzy Jane's. I am from Asheville, and our local food is incredible and very hard to beat, but Fizzy Jane's seriously impressed me. Marc was our server (and bartender) and he was AMAZING. We were there for Saturday brunch and there were 2 other larger parties there.... And as a pet peeve... The other reviews complaining about the wait for food obviously cannot have much experience dining in restaurants that use fresh ingredients with every dish made to order, because for things to be done right, you have to wait. This isn't fast food. If you're eating somewhere where your food comes out in 10 minutes, it's because it was already made and warmed up or it was put in the microwave.... Anyway, I digress. We waited a perfect amount of time for our food and while we waited, the drinks were EPIC. I had the mandarin mimosa and my partner had a whiskey sour and I swear I almost had an orgasm. It was that good. We had the tuna and crispy rice as an appetizer, the smash burger, and the steak and eggs. I don't think I said a word the entire meal. I might have eaten with my eyes closed because I wanted to not miss a single flavor. Like I said, I'm hard to impress with food but we are coming back for dinner TONIGHT. The is a gem in a sea of normality. The food is not "food", it a taste of grandeur'. The service was not "service", it was like a guide thru the streets of Naples. She direct us and took care of us. Our only regret was an unruly, drama seeking, loud, self-centered patron that management did not control, even after our complaint. However, the owners and manger did correspond the following day, and that was a great response. It was very responsive with a corrective action plan. The four stars this restaurant currently has is spot on. It's got lots of potential, and hopefully they will fix a few things so they can earn five. Let's start with ambience...the space can best be described as cavernous. Definitely not a date night atmosphere as the noise level is high, especially near the bar area. They've done a decent job of trying to mitigate the noise level by upholstering the walls, but they need to hang more fabric hammocks from the ceiling. Food...I ordered the fried chicken which was very tender, but overall the dish was a bit disappointing. The chicken was served with the uninspired side of rice and way too much of it. I would encourage the chef to consider traditional mashed potatoes and to definitely include a veggie to add some brightness, both for the visual appeal and to make our taste buds happy. My husband and friend had what I considered to be the winners...perfectly seared scallops with a very tasty and creatively prepared pear tart. Lastly, grouper was the fish special which the fourth in our party ordered, but it looked bland and the dish was not served creatively (see photo). Desserts were, in a word, ok. Not at all memorable but I can see where it might satisfy some. Service...decent and friendly, though a little slow at times. Coffee was brought and dessert took about another 15 minutes. It would have been nice if our server had informed us it would take that long. Overall, I would encourage the owners to warm up the atmosphere and to understand that while 'different' is often a good thing when it comes to cuisine, it can just as often fall flat if you don't get it quite right. read more

Everyone should run to this place. We went sat at the bar last night, and Chance the bartender served the best pear fig martini I've ever had, absolutely perfectly balanced. As we sat, the chef sent out the most delicious fried Brussel sprouts with a dill dipping sauce we shared with our bar neighbors, and they loved them too. We ordered the steak board, and it came out perfectly cooked,and of course, the crispy rice and tuna are always a go-to for us. read more

The food was so good! I was shocked at how good the food was. The Bo ssam was the star we got that as our entrée. It's an appetizer for 4-6 people. The pork was so tender I literally had to stop myself from eating it. It was juicy, slightly sweet, and slightly salty. All of that put into a lettuce wrap with kimchi, sauce, mushrooms, and onions it was even better. This restaurant is definitely a much-needed addition to the typical Southport food scene as it elevates and ushers in a new era and food experience. It's a much need breath of fresh air. It showcases the farm-to-table experience and still maintains the Southport Southern charm. Along with the Bo ssam we got the Thai to Sea clams. It's a smaller portion which is fine because the clams are very large. The broth was amazing. It reminded me of Tom Kha Gai (Thai coconut soup) but was very velvety. Even though I finished all the clams, I took the broth home in order to add some shrimp to it. It was that good. Last but not least we got the Key Lime Pie. All of their desserts are made in house which is amazing. The Key Lime Pie was not too heavy and had just enough tart flavor. The only thing missing was having a little lime wedge to up the tart flavor. I will definitely be back and want to try other items on the menu but it will be hard not to order the Bo ssam. read more

Wow! I rarely go to a restaurant the first month they are open but since Fizzy Jane's is so close to us we decided to go ahead and check it out. Our first visit was Easter brunch and it was fantastic. Our server was Brigid and she was so awesome. She constantly checked on us and made sure we were happy. My husband and son got the seafood and grits and they both loved it. I got the breakfast egg plate and it was so delicious. Their grits are killer! We went again tonight and loved it again. The chef knows how to cook delicious fish! My husband had their lobster and oyster special and I had their fish special. So yummy. I also tried their drink special and it was so refreshing. We were also lucky enough to have Brigid for our server again. She is great. She took such great care of us. We are so thrilled to have Fizzy Jane's near our place! read more

I have been wanting to try this restaurant since it opened. I drove an hour and a half just to dine there. I was VERY disappointed. There was a group at the bar that was extremely loud so loud that I thought i might be in a biker bar. Not the environment I was looking for. I had a drink then the app came. I told my server who said she asked them twice to keep it down. I told her I could not take it anymore just cancel the rest of the order. She said it was already prepared so i had to pay. I did and drove another hour and half home. When I got home the food was horrible. I wasted money, time, and gas. Let me note that no one in management ever spoke to me, only the server. Keep in mind this place is brand new. They don't even have their sign up yet. The place is outstanding in appearance. The tables are spread wide apart so you are not tripping over each other. The wait staff is super attentive and explained the entire menu. They had a long list of appetizers which were large and reasonably priced but they only had about 7 entrees, most of which were market price, which means expensive. I had a dozen oysters and my husband had a half dozen. They were $2.00 each and local so they were not very large. I had the steak appetizer which was the size of a whole steak(my husband thought he would be able to share some but no way). It was delicious and had 2 dipping sauces. He ordered the salmon off the entree menu which was huge and about an inch thick. It came with 2 sides. He also had 2 drinks and we shared a piece of key lime pie. The bill came to $140.00 which I thought was a bit much but I think once they are opened awhile they will be able to adjust their prices and portion sizes. The evening was thoroughly enjoyable and the waitress checked in with us several times to ensure that everything was alright. Keep in mind that this place is brand new and they need to iron out a few things but I foresee them being one of the best restaurants Southport has seen in some time. read more

This restaurant was recommended to us, so we took the whole family to try it out for breakfast. We were among the first people there. Soon the place filled and got extremely loud--like a gymnasium. Our server finally arrived and started pushing bloody marys. I wasn't interested in drinking first thing in the morning, and he replied, "Oh, come on!" as if he was begging for a larger tab to gain him more of a tip. I found his response extremely rude. (What if I had been an AA member?) The food was not great by any imagination. My French toast was soggy. A relative ordered steak and eggs. His steak arrived well done (not medium rare as ordered), so he asked for another one. The server noted the discrepancy and placed a replacement order in the kitchen. The replacement steak didn't arrive until we had all closed out and were leaving. The food was overpriced for the experience. I will never go back. read more

I did not have the experience of other reviewers. we did eat on a Thursday night which was relatively new to the expanded hours of the restaurant. my fellow diners had eaten there twice before and raved about it. HOWEVER, the first thing I noticed were the dead flowers on all of the tables. when I touched them dead leaves and flowers litered the table. We told waitress (who was lovely) but she said "I told "them" about it. she didn't remove them. Two same appetizers, the hummus and roasted carrots, arrived at different times. The first was delicious, the carrots perfect and generously piled with crispy onions. The second came and crispy onions stingily ringed the plate, the carrots too hard and crunchy. We pointed it out and she said "new chef". My scallop dish arrived and my companions said it didn't look like the same described dish they previously had. Shaved fennel heaped thick piece of dough that was damp, almost raw. No one at our table was really happy with their expensive food! One member of our party wanted tea and she said"well, I didnt charge for the tea". Wow what a deal. Oh, and I saw people being served white fish with a heap of white rice. Ohhh, looked so unappetizing. None of us will go back. Although, we liked waitress she didn't correct anything. read more
