My family's storage facility caught fire in Oct of 2022 and decimated about 20% of the facility. As we were in a panic, we hired a contractor the day after the fire who came recommended by our electrician. He was fired a month later as we had come to find out he was unethical, unqualified to do the work and was not at all versed in how to deal with our insurance. He charged us upfront and expected payment on the spot. And his invoices were atrociously high, way beyond what is industry standard. Dave Krueger was aware of the fire at our facility and set up an interview and walk thru with my mom and me, who are the sole owners of this family-run facility. After talking with Dave for a while about what was needed, we immediately knew Dave and his company were the right choice for us. Krueger Bros helped us navigate every aspect of the damage and rebuild including: -creating an in-depth estimate for what the rebuild entailed -revising the original contractor's invoices to be properly submitted to insurance to ensure 100% reimbursement (this original contractor had insisted to be paid upfront without approval from insurance) -invoices were sent after final approval from our insurance company; he never billed us until we had the money in hand to pay -understanding exactly what was needed for fire remediation on units not burned but affected by residual smoke and hiring all the appropriate subcontractors for estimates to be submitted to insurance. This included professional hygienic testing in various units for smoke, soot and ash, hiring professional cleaning companies to move contents in and out of the units in order to properly clean units and items and encapsulation of affected units to ensure no smoke smell and damage remained. -demonstrated experience and knowledge of working with city permit demands and code upgrades to successfully obtain the proper permits -worked with our attorney to ensure our demands for 100% payment from the insurance company were met -managed all aspects of the rebuild to ensure the work was done properly and on time Once insurance finally agreed to the cost and scope of the project, Dave and his team worked tirelessly to ensure the rebuild was completed. His communication was excellent during the entire process and he was always available to answer questions. His foreman, Tony, was also excellent and was on-sight for all of the major construction. He was respectful and knowledgeable on every aspect of the build and for all requests made asked by me or my mom. Obviously when you hire a contractor you hope they are qualified to do the job, which they certainly are, but respect and ethics play a huge role in projects such as these. Never during this entire process did my mom or I feel we were being talked down to and all phases of the process were explained to us so that we knew exactly what was going on. We both trusted Dave and his team 100% and constantly felt assured that the job was being done correctly and without shortcuts. I cannot recommend Dave Krueger and Krueger Bros highly enough for any construction needs you may have.

My San Francisco Victorian home was set fire by arsonist in March of 2022. The building was totally unlivable and we displaced for 2 years. We engaged a public adjuster who did the first round of estimating fire damage, which was extensive. We had a few estimators give us bids including Krueger Bros (owner - Dave Krueger). KB is a well-established Contractor known for their expertise with Victorian and fire-damaged home repairs to pre-fire condition. As soon as we met with Dave Krueger (and his estimator Doug Bunker) to do a walk-through of the building, we knew that he would become our first choice in selecting a general contractor for the rebuild. Their estimator (Doug Bunker) did a stand up job in preparing an extensive estimate that well matched our "public adjusters" (FTP's) estimate. Our repair project was delayed, for approximately 5 months, due to Insurance issues. Nevertheless, as soon as we signed contract with KB, work started almost immediately and they expressed that they would complete the work within budget and most likely have an early finish date, which by the way both of these issues were completed. As the project was on-going we again ran into many insurance issues not wanting to pay for work done, which KB understood and did not bill us until we had $ in hand. However, we had to hire a lawyer, which ended up in an appraisal hearing. Krueger Bros expert team (Dale Williams - Supervisor; Doug Bunker - estimator) and our Public Adjuster (Corey Locke - FTP) all testified for 3 days defending the estimate and work done. Each of their expert testimony resulted in winning the claim. KB did not bill us for this extra service! In summary, Krueger Bros went 100% beyond just "rebuilding" the property back to the "pre-fire" condition. The entire KB team (Dave Krueger, Doug Bunker, Celeste Costa, Project manager, Dale William, Supervisor, (and his foremen) were all very competent, respectful, and were all good communicators throughout the rebuild process. Never during the process did I feel that things "weren't going right". As any project attempted, there are unexpected bumps in the road. Krueger Bros met those bumps appropriately ethically, and professionally. I give my 100% recommendation to Krueger Bros and I can say with confidence, when you hire Krueger Bros you will be very happy with the work and their team.

I hired Mark for a medium-sized remodeling project (about 6 weeks) . He provided a low estimate…read morecompared to other bids. He then said that his workers were all covered by Worker's Comp, among other benefits, and that he paid a fair wage, and that he was the most ethical contractor in the industry, resulting in his workers' being highly productive and efficient leading to shorter project times. This sealed the deal for me. Furthermore, he claimed that the extra 30% or so that he was billing for his workers, was due of the worker's comp insurance, which only he provided to his workers (as opposed to the many unscrupulous other contractors that were around). As a property owner, you could be held liable for workers' injuries if the contractor did not carry worker's comp, and so, I agreed to Mark's deal. Within a few days, Mark had exceeded the estimate he had quoted, and was very difficult to get hold of. Furthermore, his workers would come and go at all times of the day (between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm) and I simply lost track of how many "cooks" were in the kitchen. As of last count, I noticed some 15+ names on the invoices, and some would appear for a couple of hours, and then disappear. But Mark would send me invoices claiming that his workers spent the entire day at the property - which was simply untrue. Mark would not be interested in even listening to me or investigating my grievances. Instead, he would brag that he did me a big favor by accepting my project, and that he typically only did multi-million dollar gigs, and not pittances like mine. Long story short, the project budget exceeded the estimate by more than 100%. Mark became extremely aggressive and feisty, and it was impossible to work or reason with him. I hired a Private Investigator to find out who this person really was -- like a Dr. Jekyl Mr. Hyde. Turns out that he had been sued for fraud, but more importantly, the whole worker's comp, fairness, ethical contractor, and so on, charade, was ALL ONE BIG LIE. It also appears that Mark may have left the Better Business Bureau due to bad reviews and that he may have hired a reputation defending company to increase his Yelp reviews to 5 stars by questionable tactics. Good Guy Builders license has been suspended for Worker's Comp violations and is under investigation. After my PI reported this, I found on the CSLB site: "License is under suspension for failure to comply with Workers Comp. A workers´ compensation certificate or exemption statement may have been received by the Board but not yet processed. Once the certificate or exemption statement is processed the suspension will be lifted retroactively to the effective date of the certificate or exemption statement. Ask the contractor for proof of worker's compensation and contact the insurance company to verify coverage." This is one of the greatest betrayals where I was charged an arm and a leg, and told a romantic story of workers being taken good care of, and so on, all the while, when Mark was simply pocketing the money that was supposed to cover his workers' safety and well being. Such greed, deception, and dishonesty, in my opinion, does not deserve a second chance. You decide whether you want to hire this company and deal with Mark. --- Addendum to Mr. Santosh R's note: 1. I am a real person. I was threatened by Mark that I would be sued if I posted anything negative on Yelp. 2. Yes, I did edit my posts before finally settling on one. Anyone in my position would do the same. 3. Finally, the facts remain unchanged. Good Guy Builder's license is under suspension and this may be independently verified on the CSLB website (see link). Likewise, the lawsuits against them may be independently verified. People like Santosh and Mark are the real culprits who boost their yelp ratings in a manner that skews it in their favor - by attacking anyone who posts negative reviews, and threatening those in dispute with defamation lawsuits. Do not believe anything Santosh or Mark say. The suspension is more than ample evidence that Good Guy Builders is a crooked business and not one that you should be patronizing.

When they first came to do a touchup and smooth things over they ended up damaging the wall, even more!
