Long overdue, but saw some of my pool photos here and wanted to share. First off - Juan is great guy to work with and loves his job. Second... name one other pool company with this level of review. You can't because they mostly take advantage of owners - Juan is true, honest and fair. Delivers and is easy to work with. Quality is good and he has to be given a name like "Holy Waters"! He did a three sided infinity edge pool finish and I filled it with a garden hose, and it all started spilling over together. That's near impossible - but he did it the old fashion way and nailed the edge on all three sides. I had a couple of "upgrade" auto features and he came out quickly and integrated them easily. Holy Waters helped us plan the pool that was right for us and they built it quickly and without issue. They handled the County requirements, all permits and even worked with the Inspector in settling a few issues with the existing conditions without fail. The custom design, specific design requests and tight site were never an issue and the end product was better than expected. Their approach was simple with very few subcontractor involved except for the more technical finishes, keeping costs low and the schedule fast. A few quality control and warranty issues were addressed without issue, quickly and in good order. We have had the pool now for over four (4) years and we remain extremely happy with the final product and have recommended Holy Waters and Juan to other friends and neighbors. Holy Waters has been reliable and thoughtful throughout our pool design and build out. We already had landscape specs drawn up, and Juan made sure that the pool we designed was built based on the plans we already had. We had a couple of things we wanted which were outside the norm (like a partially subterranean design, integrated planters, and a water feature) and Juan was able to accommodate them well. Cara was consistently communicative and clear about the payment timeline, no surprises. Making payments was also super easy because they use an online bill payment system which supports a bunch of different payment methods. Juan and his team were always here when they said they'd be and respectful of our space. As we built, there were a number of key decisions we had to make around materials and design. Juan made sure we understood each of the options and helped us make choices which aligned to our design taste and budget. I had a great experience with Juan and Cara at Holy Waters. They built a brand new pool for us in Sonoma, and I even moved the location after Juan had already gotten the permit. No problem, he got it changed and the overall process took only 2.5 months or so. I have since called Juan or Cara two times with small issues and they were responsive with follow up and solutions, showing that they care about their past customers. I would work with them again if the opportunity arises. Believe me, pools are normally very difficult to get built given the number of subcontractors, but since Juan does almost all of the trades himself (licenses plumber and electrician, excavating, tiling, etc) it all happens fast and seamlessly. read more

One of the best contractor experiences we've ever had. As first time pool builders/owners the process was new and scary for us so we did a ton of research and reached out to a lot of pool contractors before deciding to go with Holy Waters. Juan and Cara were professional, honest, responsive, detailed, and easy to work with from the start. Cara immediately responded to our initial request and followed up with a preliminary quote based on our specifications. Their quote was very detailed and easy to follow so we set up a meeting with Juan who was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything so we understood the entire process. Prior to the start of work we were given a detailed schedule with completion dates. Every milestone they gave us was met and any questions we had along the way were quickly answered. Every inspection was signed off no problem and the inspector even commented that they provided some of the best plans he'd ever seen. His rate for coming to look at my old, non-functional, used spa was not only very reasonable (read - cheapest in the area!), but he was able to come out quickly. I'm normally pretty handy, and didn't want to spend an arm and a leg getting this old spa running, so he agreed to show me what was wrong and what parts I needed to get, so that I might attempt the repair myself. Way above and beyond just the one-time service call and modest fee, Juan repeatedly guided me through many phone conversations in my struggles with the motor, pump and panel. He also offering to help me, for free, to remove a stuck wet-end if I just brought it by (I ended up needing a new one anyway). I had a rather tall pool order; we have a long narrow back yard and 5 dogs. I didn't want the pool to overpower the entire yard, after all, my dogs are accustom to having large green lawn, big trees and plenty of room to romp, but I wanted a long "swimming" pool, not some fancy shaped, can't swim-a-lap pool. I wanted a spa as well. And oh, I rescue blind dogs, so I want the pool elevated about 18 inches above ground, so no dog could ever fall in. Juan was about the 5th pool builder I interviewed. He "got it" right away. Juan was attentive to my wants and needs, mindful of my budget, thoughtful in planning, knowledgeable in landscape, (protecting the old trees), and brilliant in execution. Today I have a sparkling 15' x 50' salt-water pool, elevated above ground with a stunning custom hand-laid brick surround by Juan and Martin (tons of bricks). The pool has one lane 4 feet deep for water walking, the other 6 feet deep for laps; gorgeous inlaid mosaics, a Baja shelf with umbrella holders. I should mention I made a rather substantial design change right before gunite, and Juan didn't get upset - he rescheduled the sub, rewired the rebar, all while exhibiting poise and decorum. What prompted me to write this review was a problem I encountered 20 months later, and not Juan's fault. It's of critical importance you take good care (yourself or a pool service) of your pool water's chemical balance. Unfortunately the pool service we hired did not service the pool correctly (for over a year) and invisibly for a while, a terrible calcium buildup on the quartz-gunite resulted from the neglect. Devastated, I called Juan. He came the next day, evaluated the (serious) problem, made time in his busy schedule to partially drain and polish off the quartz finish. Juan also researched pool services in my area and made a recommendation. Now that's Customer Service Par Excellence!! All around great experience with a small family owned business. We were a first time pool owner and totally green. Juan and Cara provided a very detailed quotation and explained the pros and cons of everything. Juan is hands on and not a salesman so he made recommendations to get us the best end result and didn't try to sell us stuff we didn't need. The end result was we got everything we were looking for. I literally got 17 quotes for our pool remodel/crack repair. Our pool was in bad shape! They all sent sales guys to our house, with quotes ranging from 2k-47k. The owner of this company showed up in his work boots to give us a quote because he actually does the work instead of just sell the job. My pool was in bad shape he had to do a lot of work to fix it right, but took no shortcuts like the sales guys wanted too. They did too much to list, it's unbelievable. Anyways we now love our pool it's beautiful. Juan helped us redesign it and gave us options we could afford. This job was huge, and we got a new pool and a friend for life. I've checked around and did a lot of research, Holy waters is the best, and when I have a problem, like I don't know how to get the pump right, heater won't work (it's old), or something like that I call him and he shows up. As a first time pool owner, I had no idea all the decisions that go into this, and the costs associated with each! In fact, when I was really struggling to make a decision on size, Cara went out of her way to meet me at a recent construction site to give me a clear visual of what they were proposing! They were very forthright and sincere, and I never felt as if they were pushing an agenda! I was constantly asking questions, and requesting additions and deletions to the initial quote, but through it all they remained accommodating and professional. They followed up appropriately, yet also left me on my own, to make decions when they knew I needed time. I'm really big on customer service, and this company definitely excels in that arena - in fact, I never really felt as if I was dealing with a company, but rather old family friends! Horrible company. Juan is a nice person but no attention to detail. We had a complete remodel of a pool, added a fire pit and a spa. What was said to take 3 weeks was well over 6 months before we had to fire them and the job was no where near complete. The quality was truly the worst. Juan even admitted it. Usually only one guy on the job and he was around 75 years old. Cara, his wife, came into the picture later and she had no clue what was going on. She would never show up for meetings we planned and always had excuses. As you can see I rarely write negative reviews but I just had to on this one. Stay away from them. If you wish to email me privately I can show you pictures in more detail of the poor craftsmanship etc of the job they attempted to do. Pretty amazing. We essentially had to tear up what they did and re do the entire job. Just a really bad experience with this company and these people. Steer clear. read more

Holy Waters pool is owner operated which allows customers to get all questions answered directly from the person who actually building the pool. Juan and Cara are very hands on and run a very professional shop from getting the plans drawn through filling the beautiful pool with water. They do a great job of working with town officials when a permit is needed and work hard to stay on timelines and manages expectations through what can be a messy (literally) process. The quality of the finished product as well as the heating, filtration, and lighting systems are top notch. I've gotten so many compliments on the pool and spa in a town where everyone has a pool.
