First time reviewer. Several issues with this place. 1: please call ahead if you are checking in early or want to leave your bags here. We arrived at 1 to drop off our bags and had to call to be let in. The on site person wasn't on site and we waited about ten mins then decided to leave our bags in the lobby. 2: the on site person was not there at 3:00. We had to wait until about 3:10 then the on site person didn't have their computer to check us in. The on site person didn't know our code for the front door and it took us asking about 4 times to finally get a code to the front door. 3: the house is cold. There are space heaters everywhere in the house, which helps, but I am not paying $400 a night to stay in a cold house. I will not be staying here again. read more

Romantic getaway. Love this place. Maryell provided excellent service getting our room ready early, accommodating requests, service with a smile. I didn't even realize I had stayed here more than 8 years ago until after I did my yelp check in. Our standby B&B is no longer operating and I was looking for something with a great location that didn't charge an outrageous price. It doesn't get much better than the Flag House as it is directly across the street from the Naval Academy and a half block from the docks. There are different prices for the rooms depending on size, etc. We went with a lower priced room on the 3rd floor and were very happy with the choice. It faced away from the busier street and felt like you were staying in a treehouse. The new owners, Marty and Carmel, make you feel like part of the family. Parking is included and that is a huge plus in Annapolis where parking can be a problem. The breakfasts are definitely gourmet and the owners offer use of the refrigerator in the kitchen. We enjoyed the parlor visiting with friends who were also staying there for a wedding we were all attending. read more

Nov 15-18. Wonderful experience. We stayed in the Commodore room on the 3rd floor. Good size room. Very comfortable bed. Bathroom is a little tight. All very clean. Shower works very well. Breakfast was top notch. Freshly prepared each morning. Each day was something different, but all very good. Location is the best. Located directly across street from the Naval Academy. Short walk to "downtown ". We had a great time and would return. The hosts Marty and Carmel were accessible, knowledgeable and friendly. read more

I chose this Inn for my partner's 50th birthday trip (1/13). I knew she'd love it. She is a very social and engaging person which was perfect for this place. She loved the terrific homemade breakfasts and then coffee on the front porch with a view of the Naval Academy. She particularly enjoyed talking with the other patrons during breakfast. They were all there for a variety of reasons, from various parts of the country - all sitting together for a moment. The room, named the "sailing something," was very nice. Comfy bed and covers. Clean and quiet. The bathroom was modern and well stocked, even good toilet paper, which is always a great touch. The walk-in shower was warm and soothing. The house itself is wonderfully decorated with nautical appointments. Terrific furniture and very neatly maintained throughout. Having stayed a dozen times at a property on State Circle, this Inn is so much more convenient to the shopping/restaurant district. After a long day of walking it's nice not to have to climb the hill to collapse on a comfy bed. It was a fortunate happenstance it began snowing the day prior to her birthday. Annapolis is gorgeous in the snow. It continued to snow heavily the next night, much to our delight. Sunday night, watching the heavy snow continue to fall, we marveled at the gold Chapel Dome of the nearby Naval Academy, and with the ambient light is something I'll never forget. I'm not a B&B fan, at all, for several reasons, but she thoroughly loved The Flag House. And that made suffering the proprietor all worth it. read more

What can I say about our experience at the Flag House other than spectacular? Our daughter and son-in-law gave us a wonderful gift of a stay at the Flag House Inn. This gift had a special meaning because my husband grew up in the house that now is part of The Flag House Inn. We arrived on Friday and were immediately greeted by Marty. He knew of my husband's association with the house and they bonded quickly as they discussed the history of the house and of Annapolis in the 1970's and 80's. He also gave us some great recommendations for restaurants and other things to do. We had a lovely evening in downtown Annapolis strolling Main street and eating. The next morning, we came down to an amazing breakfast. Marty made a crustless quiche, chocolate pumpkin muffins and fresh fruit. After another lovely day in the area (and an amazing Italian dinner about 3 blocks away) we had another restful and quiet nights sleep (the sheets are so soft). With the threat of a snow storm Marty had an early breakfast of a wonderful frittata, a very soft scone and fruit with yogurt. We were able to leave a little early and beat the snow storm back to our house on the Eastern Shore. The house is lovely. Marty and Carmel have lovingly restored many areas. The rooms are SUPER clean - with many COVID restrictions considered. Marty is very knowledgeable about the house- it was built in 1870's and has researched the area extensively. He can steer you in any direction for historically adventures or amazing dining experiences. Carmel is the purported baker but since she was sidelined after surgery Marty stepped up and filled her shoes! When I decide to stay in Annapolis in the future I will not even consider staying anywhere else. I will want to go back and see my new friends! Thank you to Marty and Carmel! read more

We had a great time at The Flag House Inn! The location couldn't be better, directly across the street from the United States Naval Academy pedestrian entrance, around the corner from amazing restaurants and shopping and the water! Everything we did was within walking distance. Marty and Carmel were so welcoming, so helpful with recommendations for restaurants and pubs of all kinds. The room we stayed in was so clean, nicely decorated with modern amenities, yet it's still got that historic feel. There's wifi, HDTV, a clock radio with USB ports for charging and extra outlets. The view from our room was the Naval Academy, where our son was visiting for the weekend. The breakfast was incredible! We don't eat meat and they were very accommodating to our dietary restrictions. The breakfasts were super delicious, with fresh fruit, juice, filtered water, all sorts of tea, coffee, and the main breakfast dish each day was something unique and yummy, one day was sweet and one day was savory! There were always cookies and water bottles available in the front hall for the guests, which was a great touch! There was free parking for us, which is a plus because parking in Annapplis is pretty hard. We had a great time talking with the owners and with the guests, some of whom also had a child visiting the Academy. It was a great experience. This is a beautiful, quaint place to stay if you're visiting Annapolis! We really enjoyed our stay and were blown away at the amount of thought and detail that was put into our room. The owners were warm and welcoming, made us feel like family. The carrot cake pancakes that were served for breakfast were DELICIOUS! Within walking distance of so many wonderful sights. Marty recommended a sail boat tour of Chesapeake Bay and we even received a free drink for staying at the Inn. Annapolis is a beautiful city and the charm of this inn makes it even that much more of an experience. read more

Had a great 4th of July weekend over at the Flag House Inn. My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice weekend trip and thought, why not look for an adventure in our own backyard?Annapolis was close by and rich with history and things to do, so we had to find the perfect Inn to go along with it all. The Flag House Inn, run by Charlotte and Bill, is about a 5-10 minute walk from just about everything in Annapolis. We were greeted by our hosts, who were very accommodating with our check-in time, on Friday afternoon. Charlotte showed us around the house and made sure to let us know they were available for advice on the best restaurants and spots around town. Breakfast was delicious both mornings and we really enjoyed talking with our fellow boarders in the beautifully decorated dining room. Later in the evening, my boyfriend and I took advantage of the charming swing on the front porch. We ate our ice cream and people watched. Inn was immaculate, comfortable, and had onsite parking for our car (which we didn't have to use at all due to Annapolis' walkability). Would definitely recommend the Flag House to friends and family, and in fact I already have. We plan on visiting again in the future! read more

Excellent atmosphere, with the most charming owners who get you settled right from the start. They gave us great recommendations for where to see and places to eat as well. The location is perfect for walks into the street shops of Annapolis or cross the street to tour the US Naval Academy. Breakfast was satisfying and offered a good variety. Excellent location and has it's own parking spaces behind the house. Parking is prime so this is definitely a plus. Charlotte, one of the owner, is super friendly, nice and very helpful. The house is clean. It is an old Victorian house so if you are not good with steps, then this might not be your best choice. Or you can ask for second floor instead of third floor rooms. I agree with other reviewer that TV is outdated but honestly, we were too busy to even think about watching TV. read more

Stayed in the Fleet Suite. Beautiful house, and the room left nothing to be desired. Bill and Charlotte are incredibly sweet and accommodating folks. The rooms in our suite were very nicely furnished. While we enjoyed wonderful privacy, we knew Bill and/or Charlotte were always available should we need anything. Breakfast in the morning was great (fresh fruit, tea, french toast, and sausage). As for location, I couldn't think of a better place to stay, whether you're visiting Annapolis for the first time like we were, or if you've been several times. The gate to the Naval Academy was right across the street from our window, the waterfront was a block and a half away, and no shortage of great bars, restaurants, shops, and historical sites beyond that. Overall, couldn't have asked for a better home base during our first trip to the city. Highly recommend. read more

My wife and I planned a weekend in Annapolis and has to find a place to stay. To say we found the right place would be absolutely an understatement. The Flag House is what every B&B should aspire to be like. From the moment you arrive and are welcomed by Marty and Carmel you learn that having a great stay is very important to them. Subtle things like having your state flag (New Jersey for us) hanging out front is just a cool touch. Pleasant conversation makes you feel as if you're visiting an old friend but be the time you leave that's exactly what you now have. The rooms in this lovely old home are exactly what one hopes for, clean and comfortable. They're not over done with clutter and perfectly functional. We slept very well. So I've covered the hosts and the bed in B&B now onto the breakfast. Marty and Carmel DOMINATE every other B&B we have ever visited when it comes to their breakfasts. My wife and I are foodies and we really enjoyed dining around Annapolis, those reviews to follow, but we usually anticipate breakfasts at B&B's as being okay at best. The Flag House is the exception to the rule. Our first breakfast began with a very nice fruit salad. Yeah yeah I know a fruit salad WOW. That's where we began before moving onto their homemade German Apple Cake. Had we stopped there I would have considered it a success because it was that good. We didn't stop there because the ending was an incredible Hash Brown Casserole. The second breakfast again began with another fruit plate but this one was better than the first and had cooked fruit, apples, pears, cranberries and walnuts. Followed up with pumpkin muffins and finished off with a ridiculous Blueberry and Cream Cheese French Toast and sausage patties. I cannot stress enough how much Marty and Carmel pride themselves on making your visit, your breakfasts the absolute best that they can be. What I can definitively do is say I cant wait to for back. I highly recommend the Flag House Inn B&B. I researched a few of them and chose this one based upon location and reviews. The owners are wonderful, friendly people and very helpful with information about history and things to do in the area. The location can't be beat - you can walk to EVERYTHING. And, free parking on-site is great. The breakfasts were tasty and abundant, and the set-up was useful as I was an individual staying during the time when a family and a few couples were there. I fit right in. My room was on the top floor, but the owner Bill, was more than willing to haul my bag up/down the stairs, so I didn't really notice how high up my room was. I liked that the owners had their own area for living and that each room at the Inn had their own bathroom. The amenities in the rooms were perfect - as if they owners knew exactly what I would need. And, the free Wi-Fi was a plus. As an individual staying in a double room, I thought my fee was a little high. But, everything in Annapolis is expensive, so everything else made up for it. I would definitely stay here again when in the area! read more

Carmel and Marty were the perfect hosts. They made us feel like special guests in their lovely, restored home. The location is perfect. The restaurants and Annapolis attractions were just a short walk away. The Naval Academy entrance is across the street. Marty and Carmel prepared and served a delicious breakfast each morning. What more could we want? Well, they had cookies, candies, water, Keurig coffeemaker/coffees and lots of tips on things to do in and around Annapolis! In town for a BBQ contest my wife and recently stayed at the Flag House. We enjoyed every minute. First of all as you might have noticed from other reviewers they have on site parking. This obviously is very convenient and a luxury in a town like Annapolis. Its nice not having to look for street parking or dealing with a valet. When we walked in we were immediately met by Marty who gave us a tour and escorted us to our room. He was a wealth of area information and made us feel very welcome. We stayed in the Commodore Room on the 3rd floor. It was very comfortable and immaculate. In the morning we met his wife Carmel who fixed breakfast. Everything was fresh and delicious. The location is second to none. In the middle of historic Annapolis within walking distance of all the great stores, restaurants and waterfront. The Inn is directly across the street from the Naval Academy's Visitor Center and museum. If you have any interest in exploring the Academy you cannot get any closer. My wife and I are already looking forward to a return visit to Annapolis. We definitely will return to the Flag House. read more

Had a wonderful stay at Flag House Inn during Memorial Day weekend. We were welcomed with our State Flag hanging from the balcony which was a nice touch. Our host Charlotte and Bill were great. The house is a beautiful Victorian that is perfectly located for enjoying Annapolis by foot. Bonus is free parking and a wonderful breakfast. Best of all is the quiet calm you experience when getting back after a busy day of sight seeing. If your looking for the best deal in town this is it. read more

Never made it to the B&B. I made a reservation online for the boat show and was quoted a price (different $ before and during the show). Was asked to confirm cancellation policy during reservation request. 24 hrs later receive email with price which is 20% higher and now has 50% non-refundable deposit instead of the usual $30 and 10-day advance notice. I complain about this and get a response telling me that the online reservation system only allows them to put in same $ amount for the entire week and 50% is standard. Clearly not true since I was quote different rates during the same week. Policies posted online should be honored. Sounds like a bait and switch to me. read more
