It's been open for a year the store is part beauty supply store and The store carries a little bit of African and Caribbean food from calalloo, smoked fish, spices,palm oil,fufu, plantains,yams,non alcoholic malt beverages, ginger beer, phonecards to African wax prints (cloth). We went to this pharmacy, then they sent us to another Walgreens on 76th street -- and they told us when we got there, there was no prescription... then they changed their mind and said come in Thursday (next day). Finally after a heated exchange with pharmacist, he located my prescription and wanted to give me 3x quantity that I requested and charged me a co-pay. I explained I did not have a copay. They wouldn't give it me without paying. I needed the prescription, which was now 2 weeks after I needed it. I don't ever recall this Walgreens getting it right the first time. EVER. Plus the pharmacy has limited hours -- not open on weekends and closed at 7pm the rest of the week. And, every time you call, set aside at least a half hour or more. They're always understaffed. And the voice robot answering calls repeats the hours, the lunch break times, the hours, and other information that takes 3-4 minutes to hear needlessly. Ok ! We've heard it -- can't I get to the pharmacist before I need to go through the robot parodical and get a person. And the staff is largely inept. What a poor excuse for a pharmacy! Save yourself a migraine and go to anywhere else.

I'm in line, I have a few things for a birthday gift and a few personal items. I like this store, I go there often enough. There is a line of about 3 people ahead of me. The first 2 are slow, but get done. The 3rd lady needs something special, and has something with an address change, I don't know, but she seemed decent enough. The checkout clerk (an older woman) is having a problem changing that address in the system, and calls a manager. The manager says "we can't change that" or something along those lines, and walks away. (you DON'T walk away as a manager, you finish it) They continue to mess with it. I'm still waiting. I walk away and get a different 12 pack of soda, not sure if the 3 packs special will allow 2 pepsi and 1 coke, so I figure while I'm waiting I'm going to bring another 12 pack of pepsi and set it nearby in the event I'm going to need to grab it quick (so I don't hold anyone up). I get back, still waiting (now going on probably 10 minutes total). The clerk looks at me and asks "Do you know how to do this?". I'm not kidding, she just asked me to run her register for her. I've never met this woman in my life before (not like I even see her twice a day or something). She ALSO just invited me to invade her other customer's privacy! Now normally I would have taken that opportunity to be a real jerk (either quote her a $200/hr technical consultation fee, creep out their other customer, or just unplug their system and say it is fixed, etc)... but I was too tired to go through that much work. I pushed my cart to the side, and just walked right past them out the door. I was done 20 minutes later at Walmart literally 20 seconds away. I've had great experiences with other employees at this store, so I still gave them a 2 realizing they can overcome any poor rating... but I think there is a reason so many Walgreens are closing... it is middle management.

Yet the staff at this location is quite possibly the friendliest that I've encountered at almost any pharmacy. The technician at the pharmacy for our COVID booster shots was so warm and welcoming that it really stood in contrast with the pharmacist who conducted the shots who told us he "didn't have time" to complete our vaccination cards but would get someone else to do it. We get that you're busy, but you don't have to be a jerk about it. Also, the cashier as we exited was also very pleasant.

However, it wasn't something they did in a friendly manner. Instead I felt like they were annoyed to have to do something. The tone of the person on the phone was displeased to say the least. A similar issue at pickup, the gentleman who was running the counter wouldn't even acknowledge my small talk. Just flat out ignored me. Overall they can have a 3, they did the thing I needed, when I needed it done. That's good enough. A little customer service would go a long way... I know I'd be fired at my job if I acted that way and my job isn't potentially life or death like a pharmacy.

Sara Power's incompetence was on full display as she mishandled my prescription, causing delays and errors that could have had serious consequences for my health. Her dismissive attitude and lack of attention to detail were shocking and completely unacceptable. Not only did Sara Power fail to provide the basic level of care and service expected from a pharmacist, but her rude and condescending behavior towards me and other customers was downright disrespectful. It was abundantly clear that she had no regard for the well-being or concerns of those she was supposed to be helping. I would strongly advise anyone in the Gurnee area to steer clear of this Walgreens location and to avoid any interactions with Sara Power. Her incompetence and lack of professionalism have no place in a customer-facing role, and I would caution anyone in need of pharmacy services to seek assistance elsewhere. This experience was nothing short of a nightmare, and I would not wish it upon anyone else. I was planning my wedding from about 3 hours from the venue and Air B&B which meant that doing a trial was trickier than it usually would have been, but instead we went with a phone call. During the call she explained her process and her tools clearly, making sure to include why she opted for the makeup and techniques she uses. I described myself and what I was looking for on my big day and she assured me that she understood and that it would be great. And it was!
