NYE lunch with friends brought us back to this place. The lunch menu is two pages - vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Each meal comes with a soup, a single pakora, the entree, and dessert. Lots of food for about $20. The service was great. Our server was attentive, made sure we knew he was about to serve our hot soups, etc. The food came out quickly and everyone enjoyed their meals! This time docked one star because the Christmas music. (I understand it's the last day of December, but not everyone celebrates Christmas and wants to keep hearing Mariah Carey. I celebrate Christmas and even I get tired of listening to MC!) particularly dislike religious Christmas music (at an Indian restaurant with a Genesha statue) that is so loud it's difficult to hear your neighbors at the table. If I could, this would be a 4.5 star rating.

I visited the Buffalo Grove Flambe location many years ago, and I remember that they had good flavors but tiny portions. We wanted to finally try the Libertyville location since they opened a couple years ago. I was pleasantly surprised! The service was great. Thankfully we were promptly seated even tho the restaurant was bustling! Everything we ordered was delicious and a decent portion. The garlic naan was huge... And so good! We probably didn't need two of them for two people. Rice is extra but they give you a lot of it. We got a couple curries and an appetizer. It was a very satisfying meal, and I will definitely go again!

After walking 3 miles on trail at Independence Grove, my friends and I decided to dine here. They have nice interiors with good bar set up. Our server was very nice and he suggested few items. Our malai chicken skewer was outstanding, mango lassi was balanced (not too sweet) flavor. Our kebabs were also delicious. Our cocktail drinks were decent. And we ordered three curries which appeared to have same base and tasted same (but delicious). The best part of our meal was cardamom creme brûlée and mango kulfi. Both were outstanding. I will be visiting their other location near to me to try other menu items.

Pure excellence. Don't let the smaller strip mall location confuse you. This is a fine dining place. We visited Flambé India on a Tuesday right at opening time, 5:00PM. We were greeted and seated immediately. The service was attentive and fast. We started with chicken 56 appetizer which was amazing. If you like boneless chicken wings definitely try this and prepare to have your mind blown. The chicken was crispy and flavorful with a medium heat. The naan was also so good we got a second order. The chili and cheese naan is slightly spicy with jalapeños in it. The star of the show was the chicken tikka that was... flambéd I believe. It was mouthwatering! Our party of 3 cannot wait to go back. My sister had never tried Indian food before and now loves it, and my picky eater husband said he would definitely go back and wants to try more dishes! Cannot rave about this place enough. The food and service were simply excellent. Bonus: a table of 21 was seated and served around the same time as us and there were no delays to their order and service or to ours. They were on top of everything! Very impressive.

I'll start with the good: the food was absolutely fantastic. Everything was fresh and hot when it arrived. This is by far one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. I had the Lamb Raganjosh and my friend had the butter chicken. Their naan is sooo flavorful! It came hot and fresh and the two sauces we had were amazing! The service was just not great. It took us over an hour to get served. We watched other tables that came after us receive their food before us. No one checked on us till our food came, which was after an hour! It was busy at this location but that does not excuse waiting an hour for food. The restaurant is beautiful, lovely decor and ambiance. All in all a great place for authentic Indian cuisine. The only thing that threw me off was the service.

I would probably give this place a 2 if i was honest, but would hate to bring down a business with few reviews. i ordered butter chicken and garlic naan on uber eats. i requested that they make the butter chicken as spicy as they could & to not hold back. Im not sure if they weren't allowed to adjust the spice level or what, but the spiciness of this dish is a 1.5/10. it's also a little too tomato-y for my liking. I just moved here from the bay area, so my standards are high. considering there's only literally like 2 indian restaurants in this half of the state, this is better than the other one i've tried. the garlic naan was good, i have no complaints there. the portions were large & it came with free rice. however, i think its subpar. i'll save my indian food fix for when i go back to cali.

Delicious Indian food with a variety of traditional dishes. Portions were ample and our server was attentive. Ambiance was nice, decorative and bright, with comfortable wooden tables. Prices were a little steep but on par with similar Indian cuisine restaurants in the area. Great for families, meeting friends or date night. There was a decent wine and cocktail list for those who want to indulge. We really enjoyed the cauliflower pakora and will go back and try their lunch specials!

We started with Caesar Salad and a Prosciutto and Mozzarella dish. Both were good. The Caesar greens were a little "old and brown" but still tasted good. The Prosciutto dish was really good and fresh. Everyone doing great. We ordered some cocktails that were on point as well. Service was slow - probably had a little to do with being on a second floor of the restaurant. But we enjoyed the pace. Entrees ordered were 2 different steaks and one Bacon wrapped chicken. The steaks were amazing. A lot of places, even steakhouses, are cutting back on quality due to costs. These steaks were delicious. I ordered the Allen Bros Ribeye which was cooked perfect and was sooooooo flavorful. It was awesome. The Bacon Wrapped Chicken however, was actually black on top and the chicken dry and over cooked. My wife couldn't eat it. To the restaurant's strength, when we alerted the waiter, they immediately took it off the bill and offered to get anything else. When my wife passed (she ate some of our steaks), they bought dessert for our table too. It was the carrot cake and delicious. We will be back and enjoyed our evening out.

After several visits, it is clear this is a restaurant that understands the fundamentals of fine dining: atmosphere, execution, and a menu that extends well beyond its steakhouse label. What first sets The Tavern apart is its ambiance. The space leans into a dark, romantic, dimly lit aesthetic that feels both polished and inviting. On our most recent visit, we were seated upstairs according to our reservation, and that remains the preferred setting. The quieter noise level above the main floor allows for more comfortable conversation and a more intimate dining experience. Service was solid, if not especially memorable. Our server was efficient and capable throughout the evening, though somewhat lacking in warmth and guidance. Fortunately, the kitchen carried the night with ease. Every entrée at the table was excellent. My wife's lobster was particularly well received, while the steaks were cooked properly, deeply flavorful, and presented with the kind of care expected at this level. Presentation across the board was refined and appealing. The wine program also deserves recognition. The list is extensive, thoughtfully selected, and offers strong choices for diners who appreciate pairing a serious bottle with dinner. The Tavern is undeniably a high-price-point experience, but it largely delivers the quality and atmosphere to justify it. For those seeking a refined steakhouse meal in Libertyville with strong food, notable wine, and an intimate setting, it is easy to recommend.

That may have something to do with the quality of the dishes. The Brussels sprouts were burnt (way over done and doused with balsamic). The empanadas that we raved about to our friends were also overdone, and actually hard. The squash salad was greens and olives and cucumbers. I ordered an Orange Old Fashioned that tasted as if no bourbon was in it (totally sweet and syrupy) and the glass was sticky. If we weren't were friends we would have raised these issues, but we didn't want to create an awkward evening. This was a very different experience from our first visit and was very disappointing.

They were comically small, but I didn't want to include that in the original review as it seemed petty. The cost of the shrimp may have been lower, so that's my error, but it certainly wasn't worth what we paid. Additionally, the pictures I saw were on yelp and Google, not the menu. The fact that the restaurant accuses reviews of being fake indicates they don't take feedback seriously, nor wish to consider they have anything to work on. While we were there we saw the bartender have to remake someone's drink, as well, because an patron wasn't happy or. I've never had an establishment accuse a review of mine of being fake. This is wild. Service was great and the atmosphere is lovely. Very chill vibe. Unfortunately, the food wasn't great and for what we were paying, we should expect better than 'ok'. I was planning on getting some paella but the picture threw me off. The ingredients didn't look authentic at all. Instead, we ordered baked goat cheese, meatballs, patatas fritas, and the gambas Al ajillo. The goat cheese was the best out of the four, but the tomato sauce was very one dimensional. The meatballs were similar. Bland and just ok. The tomato sauce was again, one dimensional. The patatas bravas were undercooked and under-seasoned. The gambas was the lowest on the list. The sauce was not flavorful at all and it was pure liquid, like a soup broth. The shrimp looked boiled; pale white with no char on them and there were 5 shrimp for like $18. I was really looking forward to some tapas and this was really disappointing. I'm honestly not sure how they're getting 4+ stars from patrons. I'm stumped.

While the garden salad with blue cheese dressing and the lobster bisque were both a bit bland, the salmon with hollandaise sauce was the best salmon I have ever had. It was fresh and delicious and did not have the "fishy" taste that salmon usually has. The captain's choice with lobster and shrimp was phenomenal.
