    Chicken Karahi

Ordered the chicken karahi and garlic naan . DELICIOUS and good portion. The picture is not the full plate size we ordered it to go and ended up eating inside. My boyfriend and I split a meal and still had leftovers. Welcoming staff definitely more of a takeout place but we did dine in;they have a few tables inside. 10/10. Great service !

This is a small family Indian restaurant in Libertyville. Excellent food. The dining room , if you can call it that, was tiny with three tables but packed full. Everyone in the restaurant was Indian and all said they eat there regularly. Portions were great, service was great.

The butter chicken is sooooo good. The mild didn't have any spicy - which I enjoy (I don't really like spice) The serve it Mild, Medium, or Hot. It comes with basmati rice & ready within 15 minutes. Their food is SO fresh & tastes phenomenal. Love love love

As soon as I had heard there was a new Indian restaurant in the area, my family and I had to try it. Most of the Indian restaurants in the area are more of a hike from our home in Volo, so a location in Libertyville was a welcome addition. Upon looking at the menu, the first thing I noticed were the reasonable prices, as Indian food can be pricey. Although our favorite dish, Chicken Tikka Masala, wasn't on the menu, we decided to give the butter chicken a try along with samosas and naan. The samosas were very delicious and flavorful. The butter chicken, while a little on the sweet side, was also very good. Quick tip: the dishes don't come with any rice, and the containers of rice are kind of small, so I recommend 2 orders of rice per dish. Next visit I look forward to trying something new as I'm sure the other dishes in the menu will be as delicious as what I've already tried.

The aromas that hit your senses as you walk into Tandoor Curry Hotspot is something out of a dream!…read more I've been to Tandoor twice: once with my book club and 6 other people, and another with a girl friend of mine. Both times, the staff was incredibly warm and kind, and both times my food was flavorful. I have had the bullet naan ($5) and the garlic naan. And both times I ordered a dish with paneer (I'm vegetarian, and love a good Indian dish with paneer). I will say, that the first time I was here, I ordered a glass of wine, and knew IMMEDIATELY as the wine was set down in front of me, that the wine was spoiled. The Pinto Grigio stank like an old Chardonnay and turned my stomach so badly after just one sip, I had to take my food to go and finished it the next day. I have also noticed that the water carafes and glasses were kind of dirty the two times that I was in here, and that's a huge turnoff for me when dining in a restaurant (hence the 4 stars, not 5). I highly recommend Tandoor for the food and service, just skip alcoholic beverages, and maybe don't drink the water...?

Growing up, there weren't any Indian places to get food from, so when I saw an Indian restaurant, I was excited! I have been living in Orlando for the last 20 years and I eat Indian food at least once a week. I am also spoiled to have an Indian grocery store nearby and I purchase a large box of frozen samosas so I can throw them in the air fryer whenever I have a craving in front of the TV at night. I was getting ready to leave downtown and head back toward my niece's house and wanted a small snack to hold me over for the hour drive. I decided to try this restaurant for a unique combination of Indian and Pakistani food. I ordered one of my favorite dishes, Samosa chaat. I was very specific and asked for it to be vegan. In the meantime, I needed to use the restroom. As I made my way towards the back of the restaurant, my shoes began to stick to the floor. This was quite a bit of a turn off but I dismissed it as perhaps a mess that wasn't able to be thoroughly cleaned yet. When I went into the ladies room, there was no toilet paper. I had to go back out into the restaurant and ask for toilet paper which seemed to be a small ordeal for them. Needless to say, the toilet paper situation was resolved and I discovered a sticky floor in the bathroom as well. I started second guessing my choice of a place to eat. Again, I dismissed it And went to sit down at my table where the floor was sticky yet again. I should've left at this point. I looked around the restaurant and I noticed that there were three other tables of people eating the food and chose to stay because of that fact. When I received the Samosa chaat it was smothered in both tamarind and cilantro chutney (most cilantro chutneys are made using yogurt and I requested a vegan entree...unsure if this chutney had yogurt.) The samosas were made out of wonton wrappers and deep fried. The potato used inside was completely flavorless with some being so overcooked it was like mashed potatoes and some being so undercooked, they were as hard as rocks. There was no spice. My nose should've been running while I was trying to eat this. The channa masala on the dish was tasty but cold. The red onions had the most flavor of all of the ingredients on the plate. But I couldn't get passed the potatoes and left 85% of the dish uneaten. (I failed to get a photo ) I am thoroughly disappointed and bummed out that I couldn't find good Indian food in my hometown after all these years. Perhaps I'm spoiled by the large Indian population in Orlando. I shared my critique with the gentleman who took my money and I was told that they would try to do better next time. Well, there will not be a next time.

I ordered a Mango Lassi ($4), which was creamy and sweet with a strong mango flavor, absolutely delicious. My husband had a beer ($5). For food, we first shared an order of Garlic Naan ($5). The 5 pieces were warm and delightful. Although they were not as fluffy and were thinner than other naan we've had, they had crispy, crunchy bases and were packed with garlicky flavor in every bite, seriously addictive! Just for the Mango Lassi and Garlic Naan, I would absolutely come back. We also ordered Butter Chicken ($19) and Goat Curry ($22) to share. Since their entrées do not include rice, we also got an order of Basmati Rice ($4). The Butter Chicken was creamy and buttery, although the sauce was a bit on the sweet side. The chicken pieces were all meat and not dry. The Goat Curry was spicy but flavorful, with tender meat attached to the bones, except for one chewy piece. The portions were good, and we even had some Butter Chicken left to take home. All in all, we had a good experience and would love to come back to try more dishes.
