The neighborhood is in a beautiful area that has an Old Florida feel with 200 year old oak trees. Many of the homes here were built in the 50's for the returning veterans of WWII who flocked to Florida. Like all Ft. Lauderdale parks Riverland is open every day from 6 AM until 9 PM. The city purchased the land for the park from the Black family in 2017. This land was their private home. Part of the funding to purchase the park came from $750,000 that was put aside by the county when Riverland was annexed into the City of Fort Lauderdale in 2002. When the property was first set for sale it was slated to be divided into subplots for housing development. The neighborhood was concerned about keeping the areas character intact and saving the 400 tropical trees on the property. They petitioned the city to keep the land in its natural state and they agreed to purchase the property and turn it into a park. Riverland is a passive park that still looks like someone's house in the neighborhood. The first time I looked for this park I actually drive by it. The original house still sits on the property along with several outbuildings. Behind the house is the preserve has ancient oak trees, sandal palms, laurel oaks, native wild orchids, slash pine trees, shrubs, banana trees, pink pineapple plants and other native plants. I saw ibis and the trees in this neighborhood are known for being a home to owls. There are no trails but there are benches. This preserve was one of my more interesting Ft. Lauderdale park finds. I love how the neighborhood rallied together to save the ecologically important piece of land. During my visit most of the preserve was flooded due to the heavy rains we recently experienced but I was intrigued by the plants I saw, especially the pink pineapples! and I will be back to explore further next time I am in the area.

It's in a perfect location too with great proximity to restaurants. We stopped and grabbed a bagel beforehand and enjoyed it at the picnic tables. This holiday season TheLOOP brought Rink on the Beach, an outdoor ice skating rink to Las Olas Oceanside Park. Las Olas Intracoastal Park is located on the beach side of the base of the Dwight L. Rogers Memorial Causeway which carries vehicles over the Intracoastal on LAs Olas Boulevard. For years this park has been an underutilized space but all that is changing with recent park improvements. Construction is currently underway on the promenade running along the intracoastal and under the bridge. Parks under bridges are a great way to use space for recreation that would be otherwise wasted. Currently Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park is a large open space where the city is able to stage events. There are a few metered spaces along the perimeter of the park and the Las Olas Beach Garage is across the street. The highlight of Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park is undoubtedly its stunning waterfront promenade. Located on the banks of the Intracoastal Waterway, this park offers stunning views of cruise ships, mega yachts, and sailboats passing by. The park has a serene ambiance combined with breathtaking views. The park also has a paved walkway and benches where visitors can relax while enjoying the scenic views. I often see people from the nearby condominium exercising and walking their dogs here. The park will be a real show stopper once the city completes the improvements. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a fitness buff, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park offers something for everyone.

I spent a few days at the Broward College campus and wanted to have my lunch break outdoors so I…read moresearched up some parks near me and found this one within a 5 minute drive. It's a very lowkey park with less than 10 parking spaces in front. I went about 3x and each time, saw people going for a walk around the pathway or playing basketball on the court. The trees are beautiful, there's 2 covered areas to sit at and 1 bench that's closest to the playground. I enjoyed my brief 30 minutes here each time I stopped by, it was never too crowded and I always found parking. Definitely a good spot to go to if you're nearby and want to walk your food off haha!

We ate our pizza while birds chirped around us and almost fell asleep. This park offers a kiddie jungle gym area with a tennis court, pickleball court and a basketball court surrounded by beautiful historic homes and the New River access.

There is a community center on site but it is almost always closed, meaning there is no bathroom at the park. Luckily there are two restaurants as well as a corner store less than 200 yards from the park(I would go to riverside market so you can grab a bottle of water for the rest of your time at the park). The sidewalk that loops around the park is the only sidewalk in the neighborhood so you will also see people from the neighborhood walking their dogs around the perimeter of the park as a bonus.

This park features a fountain and sculpture, paved walkway, landscaping, and benches with shade overhangs. In the center of the park is a fountain with an art sculpture by Tamarac artist George Gadson. George Gadson graduated from Duke University and has been commissioned to create works of art for events and people. Some of his most well known works include two South Florida Super Bowl bronze commemorative sculptures named The Quarterback in 1995 and The Kicker in 1999. The sculptures were given to the National Football League Team owners. According to the Tamrac City website "Gadson seeks to bring back to life the forgotten history found in many communities, stimulate the imagination within an otherwise sterile environment, or simply capture civic memories through creative design works in variety of mediums. His artistic elements aid in rebuilding the tangible and intangible characters of a community, bring disparate groups together, create safer neighborhoods, establish a "Sense of Place", and promote a greater sense of belonging." The piece that Gadson created for Tamarac in 2005 in the fountain is named Egretta Thula which is the genus name for one of my favorite Florida birds, the snowy egret, a small white heron. It is a six foot tall bronze sculpture of a snowy egret created to remind us that we need to protect our environment and the wildlife that lives in it. It is a sentiment I fully support. The piece was developed with input from businesses and residents of Tamarac, both adults and school children. While driving around Tamarac I was surprised to see how many large art pieces there were on the side of the road. Those sculptures as well as this piece are a result of the Public Art Program which was approved by the City Commission in May 2004 in order to provide art to beautify the the city and commemorate its history. George Gadson is the current Chairman of the committee. The Public Art Program is funded by the Public Art Ordinance which requires "that 1% of the construction value of new projects or improvements be set aside for public art." If the city chooses not to use the funds they are returned to the developer. Now that I know a little more about the art works I am going to keep an eye out for them. I never knew you could do an art tour in Tamarac.

Pompano Beach has 52 parks throughout the city offering pools, sports amenities, playgrounds, dog…read moreparks, exercise equipment, and rental facilities. The SE 13th St. Park does not have the usual amenities you might expect but t is still worth a visit. SE 13th St Park is located at the end of a neighborhood that lies between Federal Highway and the Intracoastal Waterway. It is south of Atlantic Boulevard. The neighborhood of single family homes was built in the 1960's and is prized because there is no thru traffic. This small passive pocket park lies between the neighborhood and the Intracoastal. While the park is small, its main attribute is a stunning view of the Intracoastal. There are three benches where you an sit and enjoy the breeze while watching the boat traffic pass by. Residents of the neighborhood use the park to watch the fireworks on the Fourth of July and the Pompano Beach Boat Parade in December. The only visitors I saw on an early Saturday evening where some iguanas scurrying on the sea wall. This little known park is such a peaceful place to relax and take in the view.

There is a sufficient parking lot. There are Volleyball courts, a playground and a walkway around the lake. I was not able to walk the entire path as the north side is closed for park improvements until midsummer 2026. There was a huge amount of ducks and invasive iguanas everywhere. Park hours 8 AM to 10 PM The Stunson Nature Trail is adjacent to the park.
