She was able to give guidance and preferences but she said they were great independently. They did the job efficiently. I got the oven cleaned and I did visit a few days after and it looked like a brand new oven. I also could tell for the rest of the cleaning like the bathrooms, hardwood floors that they did an excellent job. This was the third company I tried and it really was the charm!

They've always been responsive to either emails or phone calls. The great thing is the the notifications, leading up to the cleaning. I knew when the crews were to arrive so I made sure I was there to meet them. Both crews were not only on time at the start of the arrival window, but everyone was polite. They did an amazing job cleaning both my house and apartment... no surface was missed and with both cleanings, John, one of the owners came over at the end and walked through everything making sure it was done. Also they are flexible in giving custom quotes if you don't even need a whole house cleaned on a regular basis but the ability to add on things as needed. I received an antique clock from a friend a few months ago. While transporting it home, apparently…read morethe thin wire that holds the pendulum got bent. As a result, the clock stopped working correctly (it had worked fine for many years before that). The clock repair shop I previously used has since gone out of business, so I contacted this company. I took the clock in and explained the problem. I also asked them to re-solder the glass bezel over the clock face. Long story short, after several weeks, they notified me that the repairs were completed. I made an appointment to pick up the clock. They replaced the pendulum with a larger one and reattached the bezel (poorly and ill-fitting). I was given a lengthy lecture on how and when to wind the clock. I was also told that, since I had not elected to have them perform a complete reworking of the clock (which would have cost more than the clock was worth), they would not guarantee that it would work. Remember I said it had worked for many years and kept good time for my friend. 3 days later, I attempted to wind the clock for the first time and something broke inside. I called them and described the problem. I was informed that the sprocket seems to have failed and was then quoted a price of over $300 to repair it. I explained that I had already paid nearly $200 for the thin wire repair, an amateurish soldering job, and a used pendulum. I could not see spending another $300 on the off-chance that the clock would operate afterward. Later, the owner left me a voicemail message stating that, since they had not done any repair work on the clock the first time (and yet they charged me just under $190 for that!), they were not obligated to warranty the clock. I understand their reasoning, but it seems awfully coincidental that a previously-reliable sprocket/rachet would suddenly fail the very first time I tried to wind it (by following their instructions to the letter). Sadly, they have little or no competition in central Ohio, so I will have to look farther away to locate a more trustworthy and skilled clock repairman.

So, for nearly a year, my clock has not been running. When my father passed away in May, I felt even more compelled to get my clock running again, so I looked for a new option--someone who would understand how much I treasured this piece. I called Master Clock Repair and spoke with Christian. He was WONDERFUL in helping me understand how their company works and, moreover, in generating confidence in the consistently good work his father does. [His father's pedigree in the industry is strong; I was a little surprised to encounter such a humble and friendly guy--definitely not my experience with his competitor.] He worked with me to find a good appointment time and was very clear about the fees (which were VERY reasonable.) Christian's Dad, Mike, came to my house, listened to my story, and began to work on my clock. He helped me understand the workings of my clock, confirming that what the Amish builder had used should last over 20 years. He pulled the works, oiled and cleaned them, and put them back in. He tested the chimes, worked to ensure that all systems were functioning in a healthy way and, when he realized that the trigger for the chimes wasn't working as perfectly as it SHOULD have, he pulled the works again and continued well past the anticipated end time to get it exactly right. As soon as the chimes started I felt emotional--partly because this heirloom is such a reminder of my Dad's investment in my life--but also because in a world of compromise, having Mike steward my concern with such focus, professionalism, and empathy was, as they say, medicine for the soul. The title "Master" in the business name is well-earned and defended by the way that Mike works. I noted with Mike that most people who have a grandfather clock also have a story. Our clocks carry sentimental value. Today I learned that Mike--and Master Clock Repair--genuinely care about their customers' stories. The integrity and respect Mike showed are the antithesis of my experience with my previous company. I will, without hesitation, always call Master Clock Repair moving forward. HIGHLY recommend.
