Went for dinner tonight, with a recommendation to try their "signature dish," the walleye. OMG. What a mistake. The fish was both overdone and tasteless. Even adding fresh lemon, salt and pepper didn't help. I don't know what they had done to the poor fish, but it was so awful our cat wouldn't touch the large portion I dragged home for him. Smart cat! My spouse's beer battered cod was equally gruesome. The cat voted "no" on it, too. Her French fries were also icky, but my asparagus was fine. For $18, I didn't think the six asparagus stalks made up for the terrible walleye. Both of our side salads passed muster, but the little loaf of wheat bread was nearly microwaved to death and the whipped "butter" was another low note. The waitress calling me "honey" 26 times during the meal did nothing to lift my gustatory spirits. Unless you're starving, don't be tempted by the Winter Inn's cozy ambiance. It sucks.

No where do they tell you on the website that your walls and bed will vibrate from the bar music below. Was not happy with it at all and they said they were sorry but there was nothing they could do I would just have to put up with it until 2 AM. Not happy!!! The owner needs to revise his website so that people know what to expect.

I arrived at Grandma's House after a 12-hour bike ride in the rain. "Grandma" and her husband Larry…read moremade me feel welcome right away. They've had a lot of cyclists stay with them, though I was likely wetter and muddier than their usual client. Fortunately I was the only guest that night (I just missed a family with seven children), so I took over the upstairs bathroom to wash and dry myself and my gear. Sure, a hotel room would also have served, but I felt so much cheerier in a cozy, friendly home after that long day. They are very nice and down-to-earth folks. They'll have breakfast ready when you want it (just tell her the night before) and will have you feeling like you're part of their family. During breakfast I learned about what several of their 19 grandchildren are up to, and a visiting great-granddaughter joined us too. This place is an incredible value at $60.00 per night, and I will definitely stay there again if I'm in the area. Note: This is their home, so don't expect it to be like a hotel. I don't think they have wifi, and only one bedroom has a TV. Spend some time sharing stories with them instead. Note 2: Call at least a day ahead to be sure they have a room available for you. They are often unable to accommodate drop-ins.

What a nice place to stay! I stayed at this B&B from June 24 to 28 and couldn't have asked for a…read morebetter B&B experience. At $60 a night its a fantastic deal, and if you're lucky Grandma will make French toast on the same thick, sesame seed bread as she did for me. Keep in mind the owners actually live in the house unlike many B&B's, but in my opinion this was not a problem as they were friendly and welcoming but not bothersome. Cozy, clean, and a great deal. Thumbs up!!
