Our family couldn't wait to check out Texas de Brazil! We made reservations at the first time slot for dinner on a Friday. The restaurant looks very upscale and the light fixtures and decor are gorgeous. Shortly after being seated our server Nathan stopped by to explain how things worked and if we wanted sparkling, still, or tap water. We did one sparking and one still, which was the Saratoga brand in glass bottles. We could've done tap, but we were already splurging, so why not get the sparkling and still waters. We then headed to the large buffet of hot and cold food options. I was super impressed with the different olive oils, salads, and hot choices. My favorites were the black beans, au gratin potatoes, the quinoa salad that had cranberries in it, and the big wheel of Parmesan cheese. When we got back to the table there were dishes of Brazilian cheese bread, mashed potatoes, French fries, and sweet fried plantains. We ate three dishes of the Brazilian cheese bread. It is just SO good. We love the texture of the bread. It's almost like mochi? I don't know how else to explain it. It's crispy, chewy, and a nice cheesy flavor. The fries were also a hit. They are battered and very crispy. The mashed potatoes were also very good. We all tried the plantains as well. They were very good. Quickly the meat started to arrive. There are so many options. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming by how quickly people come by back to back. Sometimes you don't see someone with meat for a little while. I loved the filet mignon. The spicy sirloin was also good and did have a nice spice to it. I also tried the lamb and picanha (cut of beef). I do not eat pork, so I didn't try any of those options or the sausage. Everyone else at the table raved about the sausage. We were all beyond stuffed, but wanted to try some of the desserts. Our family of four had the carrot cake and Brazilian cheesecake. Our two friends shared a chocolate cake. The desserts were phenomenal and so worth feeling miserably full. Very flavorful, moist, and rich. Our server Nathan was a gem. He was so kind and funny. He was always making sure our group was doing okay. There was also another gentleman that helped with getting our table more fries and getting more filet mignon. Service was amazing and so was the food. The atmosphere was beautiful. We will be back!

The atmosphere is very vibrant with an upscale feel. The tables are packed in very tightly. It does have a fun feeling to it all. They started by asking if I wanted sparkling or spring water. I chose spring water and got charged $8, so beware. The meal cost $57 for dinner. The sides are always fabulous. This was no different, great mashed potatoes and the fried bananas are outstanding. I could eat those every day. The meats were all excellent, very well cooked and tender. Last year I was at the Detroit location and the meats in Grand Rapids were much better. The service was good, but also my only real complaint is everyone needs to learn to speak up. I had a hard time hearing the up front counter person, then the waitress and the waiter she was training were both way too quiet to hear what they were saying. If I hadn't been to a couple of Brazilian restaurants I would have been very confused. That being said I'm not taking any points for that or the over priced water. Overall a 5 star review. Would I return? Absolutely. This isn't really a place you go every weekend, it's more a special occasion. I'm glad to have a new special place to go to. I will be back a couple times a year I'm sure.

My husband was so excited this opened and I said I would only go if they had a salad bar only option, and they do! Friday night after their first week open: * We did not make a reservation * Checked in at the host stand at 6:20, said it was a 30-45 min wait for 2, received a text after 32 minutes saying our table was ready Food: * All you can eat for $50+ per person and salad bar only option for $34 per person; rates are posted on the host stand. That's it for the food menu. * Red meat, chicken, and shrimp brought around to tables on skewers. Red meat is medium rare and has a slight salt rub on the outside. My husband loved the prime rib and garlic Parmesan chicken. * Salad bar has smoked salmon, prosciutto, salami, fresh mozzarella, various salads and sides including lobster bisque and potatoes au gratin - one plate and I was full! * Sides for each table: delicious mashed potatoes, sweetened plantains, French fries, and Brazilian cheese filled bread rolls. You cannot take these home. Drinks & Dessert * Lots of beverage options, limited mocktails. I loved the limeade with mango - it wasn't too sweet or too tart and very reasonably priced * Surprised the dessert tray was all plastic / non-edible models! It makes sense that you want to reduce food waste. We got the carrot cake to go. It wasn't as encrusted with nuts as expected, but it was DELICIOUS! we ate every bite * Bar has a few seats to get drinks while you're waiting. Was told it's not full service at the bar, yet saw someone getting meat brought to them there. Service: * Servers were fantastic and clearly know the steps of service. I was self-conscious about getting an let down look from the server if I ordered only the salad bar. She was a pro and I enjoyed my experience! * It was opening week and clearly there were corporate trainers. Anticipate staffs as also brought from other locations to help. I hope the local staff is as good. * Didn't feel rushed at all. * The only disappointment was that it took a long time from when we ordered the carrot cake to-go to when we got it. It also came on a plate so we had to wait longer to get it packaged back up. Ambiance: * Nice enough to get dressed up for a nice dinner out, yet you can also decide to wear a tshirt and shorts. You do you. I would say a little nicer than The Cheesecake Factory. * Lots of tables, really close together. Make sure to tell them if you need more space for assisted waking devices.

Not bad for ordering out! Actually being there is part of the experience. Very good over all.

We had a great experience at the newly opened Texas de Brazil, located at Woodland Mall on 28th Street. Parking was easy since it's part of the mall. Talk about service! Our server, Benjamin, was exceptionally friendly and kind to our children. He thoughtfully brought our toddler a plastic cup of water and removed the glass one right away! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, and for being recently opened, it was organized. The salad area was clean, fresh, and fully stocked, and the endless variety of meats just kept coming! Each team member went out of their way to interact with our kids directly, offering suggestions and making them feel included. Benjamin made sure we received the cuts and meat temperatures we preferred, and his attention to detail made our evening even more enjoyable. Texas de Brazil offers all-you-can-eat dining starting at $56.99 for the full experience (salad + meats), or $33.99 for just the salad area. Kids aged 6-12 eat for half the dinner price, and children 3-5 are just $5. Although a pricier dinning evening we did have a great experience here! We ended our dinner with their trio of desserts that were conveniently only $2.70 each the day we went! We will definitely be back! Hats off to Benjamin and the entire Texas de Brazil team for a fantastic experience.

Looking for a midweek dinner option? Try the new steakhouse restaurant located in the Woodland Mall, Texas De Brazil. As we entered, we found the atmosphere to be pleasing. It was dark, but the classy chandeliers gave it a sense of a pleasant place to eat for special or ordinary occasions. The shocker. They only offer two choices: all-you-can-eat meat, condiments, and a salad bar, for $56.99. If you want free rein on the salad bar, the cost is $ 33.99. Dessert is an extra cost. Service was consistent. There are many types of servers: the central server, and those who bring an array of meats on a skewer. The meat is fresh, hot, and cut off the skewer at the table. My favorite was the filet minion. They also had flank and sirloin steaks. Pork and chicken options were also available. I loved the variety, color, and tasty choices on the endless salad bar. They had a cornucopia of salads, meats, cheeses, and more. I tried to limit my salad choices until I ate some meat. I topped it off with more salad bar goodies at the end. The prices were my biggest complaint, and the lack of entrée and special dishes. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening, and we left full.

Reservation for our 35th Anniversary. The atmosphere seemed nice and we were soon seated. The salad bar and hot food choices were very great. We were at table for two along the window looking into the mall, kinda in the corner near the bathroom. A large group of people next to us were in the later stages of their dinner. For what ever reason, we had our "green coaster" showing for over 90 minutes and received very little meat all night, (even when our waitress said they would send the meat servers over). For the most part, the meat we had was very chewy, even the Filet Mignon, which was barely 2 inches in diameter. I never did get any prime rib. It was worth going once for the experience, but will not do it again for that price.

My husband and I tried Texas de Brazil for the first time tonight, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! We were seated quickly (with a reservation), and our waiter, Allan V, greeted us right away. He explained how everything worked, took our drink order, and recommended the strawberry Brazilian lemonade pitcher - which was absolutely delicious! Super fresh and perfectly balanced. I really appreciated that they didn't leave the pitcher on the table; instead, Allan and his team stayed on top of refills so we never had to ask, and it kept the table clear (which you'll need for all the food!). The restaurant itself is spotless and thoughtfully designed. The cold bar is huge, offering salads, cheeses, meats, vegetables, sauces, and more. The hot bar is equally impressive with their famous lobster bisque, rice, Brazilian beans, mushrooms, potatoes au gratin, and shrimp. And then there's the meat, an endless selection! The moment you flip your card, servers are ready with perfectly cooked options. We enjoyed everything, but our favorites were the filet mignon, beef ribs, and Brazilian sausage. Alongside the meats, you're also served sides like French fries, mashed potatoes, and cinnamon-sugar plantains. My husband loved the plantains so much he had four rounds! What really stood out, though, was the service. Allan and the entire staff made the evening feel special; attentive without ever being intrusive. At $57 per person, it is on the pricier side, but the quality of the food and the outstanding service make it 100% worth it. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit!

Fries and brussels were delicious, but the lobster mac is overrated (bland) and our steaks were mediocre. Both were slightly overcooked (not a dealbreaker, but for $85/each I'd expect better). Add in the fact that they just drown them in butter and salt to hide the poor cooking (somehow, very little sear and barely any grill marks on one of the two steaks). Service was excellent - I'll give it that, but it was a little slow at the end once our meal had concluded to get us packed up / being a check. Atmosphere - it feels upscale, but that's just because of the prices and menu selection / options. Food came out quickly, portions were good for the price. The chicken was flavorful and so tender. The hot peppers were a nice touch. There was a lot of food too! I couldn't finish it all. Mr had the hanger steak that was served with mushroom and asparagus risotto. He said the risotto was the best he's ever had, and I agree. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and so was the steak. The space is really nice, felt intimate without being overcrowded. We are looking forward to coming back!

Luckily we got a table and our server was really friendly. The menu is made up of Peruvian and Colombian specialties. I'm not super familiar with these foods so we ordered the bandeja paisa which seemed to be a sampler platter of sorts, and an order of empanadas. The food came out and looked delicious! I loved the empanadas - they were smaller than I was expecting but super fresh and tasty, with a nice texture (crispy outside, soft inside). I really liked the sauces that they came with. The bandeja paisa was very interesting. It was a plate with steak, chorizo, crackling, plantain, rice and beans, avocado, and egg. The steak was probably my favorite part - it was a very thin cut of meat but well seasoned and tasty. The beans were also delicious. Nate really liked the chorizo but I thought it was a little dry, and the crackling was very crispy but a bit tough. Overall I'm glad we tried this spot and would like to have more of their Peruvian dishes next time.

We arrived a few minutes early and the restaurant was quite busy. The ladies at the front were great, they explained the seat is not quite ready yet but should be right at our time. We were seated on time. Our server was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. It was quite busy on a Tuesday with families and small groups. It is loud but not too much. You can tell it is "the spot" There was a selected menu with small shareable plate style options. We ordered the "Grove for two" then added on to accommodate the 3 of us. Of course we started with the bread and butter, this was simply sinfully good. Our list of plates were, summer salad, fritto misto, hash brown, asparagus, fjord trout, braised pork, short rib, lamb, and flat iron steak. They brought each plate as they thought should be. Omg the flavors. Every plate was done to perfection and brought out in perfect timing. We ordered a bottle of their Pinot Noir which worked perfectly. Our dessert was the strawberry shortcake with the basil ice cream as recommended by our server, topped things off wonderfully.

Carvers has an actual kids menu. I don't think any other food stall in the market has a kids menu, so that's a bonus. The kids' menu includes the standard kid fare: chicken tenders, grilled cheese, a hot dog, a cheeseburger. That was enough variety for my children, who picked a grilled cheese and cheeseburger. All of the kids' meals are served with fries. We also got steak fries, which I was told were "very good." OK! The steak fries were what you'd imagine them to be: fries topped with chopped pieces of steak, topped with white cheese sauce. I was impressed by Carvers ready-to-eat offerings in their refrigerated case. They had stuffed baked potatoes, ready-to-grill asparagus, cole slaw, egg rolls, and even elote salad (which is labeled as street corn salad). Lots of delicious-looking foods ready to take with you.

There is a lot of foot-traffic in the market, but ordering has never been difficult and the service is typically decent. Over the years, I've been back to Carver's multiple times and they have upped their game since my first visit. The burgers have been great and the fries are particularly good. Their menu changes with their inventory, but there are always burgers and good sandwiches. The French Dip, Pulled Pork and Reubens have been standouts. This is now my go-to for lunch when the family stops at the Downtown Market.

Conversation with the staff comes so easily. And the food and drink are always delicious. Over the course of the night, we enjoyed the Seafood Cake Duet as our appetizer. Between the two cakes, the shrimp and lobster was definitely our favorite. The cocktails included the 60 Ottawa Old Fashioned, the Femme Fatale and the Cast Away. The old-fashioned was perfectly balanced. My wife loved the other two cocktails, especially the Cast Away. That one in particular was dangerously smooth. It wasn't my first time having the Halibut "oscar style", but I'm a creature of habit and it's hard to pass up. It always tastes fresh, is a milder fish and paired well on the plate with a nicely seasoned rice blend, asparagus and covered in a delightful bearnaise sauce. The wife had the Kvaroy Salmon which she very much enjoyed, but didn't come close to finishing. The brussel sprouts were cooked just right and the balsamic reduction wasn't overpowering, but instead just that right amount of savory. Leo's seems to change up their desserts fairly often, but frequently offer a crème brûlée. We opted for the vanilla bean this time and in hindsight, wish we would've each ordered our own instead of sharing.
