Really cool winery with the best view. This place is worth it to stop just to look out while you enjoy your tasting. The wine was also very good and they had a lot to choose from. Stunning view aside, my wine tasting experience here was just alright. There were a coupla groups aside from us, so the man working the counter was shuffling between 2 groups. He didn't provide much info or insight to the wines themselves. So the experience seemed impersonal. 4 samples were $10. Pours were pretty "controlled". Again, the tasting room itself is perched overlooking the entire winery, so the view is absolutely spectacular. However, aside from the lovely grounds, the tasting left a bit to be desired. read more

This was one of our stops on the Discovery Ice Wine Pass. The view was lovely - I can imagine how even more beautiful it would have been in summer, looking out at the panoramic view from the tasting balcony. Definitely will come back just to see it. Bought a few bottles of white wine - hello Twisted, delicious! It's a mix of Riesling Gewurztraminer Chardonnay - not too sweet, but just the amount of crisp and lightness that just dances off the palate (the LCBO should really hire me to write their labels...lol) I don't believe this is a "popular" winery...which is fine by me - more of the off the beaten path one. It's located in Jordan, and not in Niagara or NOTL. But it certainly delivers! The staff are all super friendly and informative. They don't rush you and take time to answer all your wine questions. read more

The breath taking view of Flat Rock Cellars is worth visiting even if you are not a wine drinking. Looking at the rolling hills of the vineyard made me want to just get one of my own...... that was even before I have taste any wine during our booze day in the area. Daydreaming...... Being one of my favorite LCBO wine makers, I decided that I couldn't pass up the chance to see this winery when I saw a groupon show up for a tour. A very kind wine maker took us for a tour of this small winery which boasts a beautiful showroom and upper meeting room. We brought some food which we ate outside however they do not have an uncorking license so we were unable to enjoy their wine on their property aside from tastings. I hope they continue to offer more experiences as they have a lovely property and very well informed wine makers/tour guides. They also sell certain wines at their store that are not available elsewhere. I particularly enjoyed the late harvest Gewurztraminer. read more

Wow! There are so many wineries to pick from, but this one is a winner. To begin with, the wine is lovely. I had the Chardonnay and it was crisp and clean. A perfect summer vino. The best thing about this place is its amazing patio. Quite a stunning view of the vineyard. Also I appreciate that my dog was welcome to come into the storefront. The staff were super welcoming and knowledgeable. I would definitely come back! read more

During the summer of 2017 I had the pleasure of visiting this location twice, once with my partner, and then with my family. I can say this hands down is one of the top 3 wineries I have visited in the region in terms of the view you get on the Beamsville Bench (yes that's a real term haha). You can appreciate the vines from the top of the lookout and on a clear day you easily can see Lake Ontario as well, it makes for some great photo's! One thing to note is that the winery itself isn't big, and in many ways I think that adds to the charm it possess. There are lots of places to sit around and you have the ability to get close up to the vines still even if you haven't booked a tour (but I highly suggest you do). The only thing I would like to see in the future is the ability to offer guests some sort of cheese or meat platter. Other then that everything is great! Flat Rock was the first stop on our own little wine tour adventure a couple of weeks ago and I had specifically chosen to visit this winery because of this web post I read here: http://ht.ly/71mtu (wineaccess.ca). This winery has a beautiful spot on the hill, providing an awesome view of the vines and country-side. Inside has large windows allowing in natural light and the outside has some picnic tables for enjoying the outdoors and the pleasant setting. Service was great, the two gals working the counter were both very friendly and one was very passionate about the wines. For the whites, tasted the Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Twisted which were all light, nice, and crisp. The Twisted is a fun sipping wine due to it's blend of Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Chardonnay - I quite enjoyed it, would be lovely for summer. For the red, I quite enjoyed the flavours in the Gravity. It's certainly full of taste and earthiness, great for a full dinner or sharing with a special someone. We were very happy with our visit to this beautiful spot and walked away with a couple bottles of wine. Good to know that some types are available at LCBO as well, will definitely buy again! (I'm still hoping to try the Seriously Twisted, they were sold out at the winery) read more

Wow! What a simply breathtaking vineyard. I came here over the Canada Day long weekend with a group of 14 girls for a bachelorette weekend, and it was a great experience. A sustainable winery with very environmentally-friendly practices, this place is stunning. There's a panoramic view from the tasting balcony that stretches over the vines and pond - simply lovely! The vineyard itself is located in a small town off the QEW called Jordan. When we went, the street the GPS took us down was closed for construction, so we did have a bit of rerouting to do. We called ahead to let them know we were going to be a bit late and they were super sweet and accommodating. When we arrived we were greeted by Alyssa, our incredibly knowledgable and sweet tour guide. She was so passionate and educated about the whole operation and it was a great tour. She kept things simple, but all of us left feeling much more educated about wine. I really enjoyed knowing that they don't use any cork in their wines and that they actually have a crown top on their sparkling - so cool! We sampled some super tasty wines (about 4 different types) and my favourite by far was their Twisted White - a mixture of Riesling, Gewurztraminer Chardonnay. We also chowed down on some cheese plates that were $10 each. I think this would be a beautiful place for wedding photos. I'd love to come back in another few years and taste more of their awesomeness. read more

Awesome tour by Jacob! Beautiful view of the winery! Very informative...never knew how much there goes into making a bottle of wine! My fave was the Pinot Noir! We visited Niagara Falls for the 4th of July week! So many wineries to choose from and Flat Rock Cellars had good reviews and a Groupon so we figured we'd try it out! Cork Screwed TV happened to be at the winery the same time we were! They were shooting a wine documentary on Pinot Noir! Super cool! Highly recommend this winery! read more

We visited Flat Rock for the Ice Wine Festival this past weekend and they had a fabulous Pinot Noir with an outstanding Smoked Beef Chili. Such a great pairing and they capped it off with a taste of ice wine. The Winery, itself is definitely more on the boutique side and very charming with an inspired view of the vineyards. Staff were very friendly and eager to show us the way to the Ice Wine Discovery site and to pour samples of their other varietals and blends. I'm going to remember to come back here to pick up some of that Pinot Noir. Great with smoky, spicy food!! read more

Fantastic views of the vineyard, with a relaxing, welcoming layout. Being off the beaten path of tourist NOTL, you get to interact with friendly staff and enjoy your wine tasting experience. We decided to try their $5 for 3 wine tasting, which was a decent deal. We tend to enjoy more heavily oaked wines that have complex flavors though, but this place may be for you if you enjoy creamier wines (e.g. one of their Chardonnays). Our favorite was the Nadja Riesling, however - terrific for a hot, summer day. read more

WOW! Spectacular. Flat rocks cellars is a must visit! The waitress was SO nice and helpful. The scenery is thee most beautiful scenery at a winery I have ever been to! Overlooking their entire stock. They had an upstairs section too for dinners, etc. and it was the most breathtaking place ever. I would never get sick of that view! We walked out with two bottles - the rusty shed and twisted. Beautiful grounds here at an earth friendly winery. This place really surprised us with a Pinot Noir that was actually delicious. We have come to expect very little from the Niagara reds, but this one was very different- well balanced with a nice nose. We bought four or five bottles and most people compare it to Oregon Pinot's, which is really nice. The staff were friendly and the view from the main tasting room is really incredible. As far as Ont vineyards are concerned, ambience:5/5 (view is the best In NOTL in my experience) Service: 5/5 wine: 3.5 (Didn't try anything we didn't like. But didn't love anything either.) Repeat: yes Didn't pick up any wine during our visit. However, highly recommend spending time here, the management is passionate about what they do. Located in the Jordan Bench area of the Niagara Escarpment, Flat Rock Cellars makes for an excellent stop on any day of wine tasting. They have a bit more focus on white wine here with Chardonnay and Riesling being the main varietals, but have a few tasty Pinot Noir choices for the red drinker in us. The staff is very friendly and will take some time to talk about the wine and process for making it. read more

The bottle we wanted wasn't available, unfortunately, but we did manage to find it at the LCBO so we still ended up taking home two bottles of the Riesling Ice Wine from here. This was my first time to this winery and I was extrememly impressed. The location makes for maybe the best view I've had in Naiagra. Definitely better than anything in the niagara-on-the-lake area. The building is slightly on a hill so you have a great view of the vineyards around it. The woman helping us was very friendly and knowledgeable. It seems like the winemaker is always trying new things, mixing different grapes etc.. We tried a pinot noir rose which was new to us and very enjoyable. Just a warning, if you are coming here because you enjoyed their ice wines in previous years, they are no longer making ice wines. read more
