Honsberger estate is probably one of Niagara regions best kept wine and dine secrets, nestled in the beautiful and quaint Jordan Village. This restaurant is located in a historically redone barn and old farm house with the most gorgeous outdoor patio! Large trees, horses, lights, and often live music on the patio. (Fun fact: my mom is cousins with the original owner and she spent a lot of time on this property growing up) The menu is small but focused on local quality that shows in presentation and fantastic merriment of flavours. The have small drink menu but it encompasses every taste from beer and wine to some amazing cocktails. All the staff is friendly, accommodating, and quick. Tad pricey but worth it for the experience! It can get busy so definitely make a reservation online if you plan on going. We ordered: Edamame Appetizer: roasted and perfectly seasoned with oil, and hot pepper, really delicious and would definitely order again. Serves 3-4 as an app. $9 I think Special roasted quail: this was a special of the week and came with a purée, mushrooms, and sunchoke chips. It was kind of a small serving and was slightly dry but seasoned really well. Not a ton of food but $15 Special gnocchi: this gnocchi was awesome!! The sauce was so flavourful and bright, gnocchi with sweet potato, braised rabbit, and veg with an earthy creama on top. Nice serving size and great tastes, large amount of rabbit in it too! Slightly salty but it did not mask the excellent prep. $24 Green belt pizza: they are known for their stone fired pizzas so we had to get one! This one had garlic sauce, ricotta, shaved asparagus, prosciutto, and balsamic with arugula. SO TASTY!!! $23 Definitely recommend Honsberger estates because they offer an unparalleled experience as soon as you pull in to the last bite of food!

This place is gorgeous! We went too late for a wine tour but got to experience the restaurant. The wine was great and I loved the venue, food and music however the service could have been better. Our waitress was great except for one point when we asked to move from the bar to a table and she definitely sassed us. I feel like the winery deserves a four but I will say that if you don't spend a ton of money there is a possibility you will be treated negatively, but I'm hoping it is just our waitress.

This winery has only been in operation since July, 2014. They have .... 1. a beautiful setting with a nice outdoor bar/patio area that serves pizza. 2. Dogs that will greet you (Vino is cute, but stand-of fish at times), yet not quite up to the star power of Brix at Sue Ann Staff. 3. Nice wines. They have a rosé and a Riesling that are good for a relatively new winery. I did not enjoy their red, but reds can be finicky in this area. 4. Great service. The young lady who waited on us was friendly and excited to tell about the wines and the winery.

A few reasons to consider stopping by this winery for a visit, among the many wineries in the area:…read more - Butter Tart: they are famous for their butter tarts. My friends from Toronto bought a bunch to take home to their friends, it's just that popular and good. Yes, you are at a winery, but get a coffee and enjoy the tarts. Yum! - Art Gallery: they have an art gallery which is free admission, with some quality exhibits. - Sculpture Garden: Besides the indoor exhibits, they have outdoors sculpture too that is quite interesting. Be sure to take some time to walk around and admire them. Also, in the gift shop they have several of their wine in cans. I find it great to buy them as souvenirs for friends back home. A lot easier and lighter to carry, and I am able to bring gifts for more friends, since if I buy bottles, I can only buy two.

Before getting in to the full review one important tip - do not leave without getting the butter tarts in their bakery. Outrageous. For those coming only for the wine you may be disappointed. Tasted a Rose Brut, Pinot Grigio, Riesling and Gamay. The Rose Brut was the best of the group, a bit too bubbly but a pleaser. The Pinot Grigio and Riesling were decent, though both lacked structure and were watery. The Gamay, in part due to the heat, was undrinkable. We did not go on their winery tour. Perhaps they have other higher level wines that were not available in the standard flight. Lunch for 4 was really well beyond what I expected. You find an available table then go up to order your food. Wine / drinks are immediately available. They give you a table number and then bring the food to you. Despite it being full on Saturday the service was quite fast. Had a strawberry and goat cheese salad which was plentiful and excellent. Smokey Broccolini salad also recommended. Grilled chicken parmesan was apparently quite good as well. Both the truffle fries basket were superb as was the shareable cheese & charcuterie board. Prices were fair. After a delicious meal listening to live music we headed over to their art gallery and lastly a stroll over to visit the vines. Art installations throughout the vineyard add to the charm. Normally I wouldn't give 5 stars if I wasn't fond of the wine but the full package of what 13th Street offers makes it a must to visit. Perhaps next time I'll dive deeper in to the wines and see if I can find one the fits my palate.

If you are looking to do a serious wine tasting of some of the top Ontario red wines Foreign Affair…read moreis a must. Unfortunately the location is not picturesque and you don't have access to the vines. This is not a sit outside overlooking the vineyard type of place. There is an outdoor garden seating. They have a very elegant tasting room and a small excellent menu to accompany your tasting. While they have some wines that are approachable the ones that impressed us were a touch on the high end of prices compared to other global choices. That said, my wife loved their Cab Franc ($45) and while that didn't hit the mark for me I was enamored with the Apologetic Red 2019 ($69 - on sale for $59 at the vineyard). This blend, 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Cabernet Franc using 50% Appassimento - same technique as my fav Amarone, may have been the best red from Ontario that I've tasted. Our 4 wine tasting ran $25 and was served in proper full sized wine glasses. They also brought us a sparking rose to start us off. Service was fantastic and friendly. Generous pours of the wine as well. We had a zucchini fritter to accompany the tasting that was delicious. While I always prefer a more picturesque vineyard to visit, Foreign Affairs does get the most important part right in making quality wine.

The server was not very knowledgeable. I don't want to discourage folk from tasting here but it is just okay. We did however, get a great picture of my husband with the moose.
