This is the worst Pilot Travel Center I've been to to date. Most of the other Pilots I've been to,…read moremostly in North Carolina, have been fine, so I was disappointed when I visited this location in southeast Atlanta in DeKalb County. It's old and in need of renovation. This Pilot is located just off I-285 exit 51 on Bouldercrest Road. It's ITP (inside the Perimeter), barely. One of my buddies who used to work for a trucking company nearby said when his company's pumps were down, the trucks would come here to fill up. The truck stop and refueling station is on the backside of the convenience store, hidden from the main drag. Cars fill up on the frontside. For cars, this is the smallest Pilot I've seen with only eight pumps. The pumps were old and the displays were hard to read. I used pump #3 and it prematurely cut off on me about a half-dozen times. I had to go inside if I wanted a receipt. The property felt dirty as well. This place just wasn't up to snuff with some of the newer, nicer, bigger, cleaner gas stations/truck stops I've been to in the Southeast, e.g., other Pilots, Love's, and even some QuikTrip truck stops. This is Pilot Travel Center #331. It's the only Pilot in Atlanta. The rest are located in the wider metro cities like Cartersville, Braselton, Jackson, Newnan, and Villa Rica.

And monitoring the site for items that add points is usually filled with actual products you use. If you are a snacked like we are- you will enjoy the variety of snacks offered in such a small space. Always something new to try and your ride along favorites are here as well. Gone are the days when the crew is paying attention to the consumer. Very transactional. But if you get stuck - they are knowledgeable and do know what they are doing. Tiny footprint. Slow moving. Just got $0.40 off gas - that's worth a fill up. Apply patience. Dog friendly. Clean.

I tried calling the phone number listed via a google search but didn't get anyone picking up the phone. Then when I go into the store the East Indian looking guy behind the glass asked me weird questions rather than simply asking for my ID after I clearly described my card and the name on it. This smacks of racism in Black communities by outsiders. I'm glad they had my card but they need to update their pumps, get a working phone number, and ask more appropriate questions in these instances, especially since this is largely a Black community. I doubt he'd ask the pump number I used if I were White or East Indian. The store was filthy and had some area blocked off apparently for video gambling.

But I had managed to let my tank run too far down and I did not want to run out of gas today. So here we are at this convenient station just off I-285. Two of the pumps were out of service which tends to be annoying when you're driving a vehicle that has a turning radius that approximates the State of North Dakota. So after one big circle, I was able to line up at a pump, run my credit card and purchase 21 gallons of fuel (the Sprinter van technically holds 24.5 but she was whining about "reserve") before I was out and on my way. The pump area is clean and there was no trash. It's a busy place and I would recommend being very aware of your surroundings. If people are approaching you, one of the best defenses is to ensure that they know that you see them coming. [Review 20216 overall - 664 in Georgia - 1193 of 2023.]
