The excellent handmade tortillas are such a draw. "What do you recommend,"I always ask when I show up at a Mexican food truck. Sometimes I get a "whatever" look and sometimes they ask me questions, like they did at Flavia's. How spicy do I like it? Have I tried aporreado? I'm a Mexico City girl, born and raised, and I'd never heard of aporreado, which apparently consists of meat beaten with a stone, salted, shredded, stirred with egg and cooked in guajillo chili, árbol chili or serrano chili sauce, with garlic and cilantro. Yum. Short on time and only wanting a snack, I tried the tinga de pollo and it was sensational. This is a woman-owned business by serious Mexican cooks. Kind ones, too.

I wanted some cheap breakfast tacos and found this food truck place near me. $5 for two is a steal. I got the bacon and egg and potato and egg. It came with a green sauce. They were nice and fast. They both were really good! The only thing I felt I had to add was a little salt and pepper but the tortillas were delicious. Overall great deal I want to come back and try the regular tacos! The green sauce has the perfect kick to it.

I'm offended that it took Yelp this long to show me the way to Flavia and her Kitchen. Just kinda perfect in every way. Tried a sampling of tacos by way of their 2 taco special for $5. Each was delectable, effortless in its own way. My favorites were the standout Carnitas, juicy and savory, followed closely by the Chicken Tinga. I really appreciate the handmade tortillas, they were probably the best I've had in ATX, and the salsas included were fantastic as well. I really liked the green salsa -- it had a really good depth of flavor. Excited to try much more!

I've been trying to try this place but have found the hours to be a bit inconsistent. However, I saw that they were open and I ducked in for a quick bite and drink. The folks here are very nice and the tacos come out pretty quick. My order was two tacos - Al Pastor and Bistec and a watermelon aqua fresca. The aqua fresca was really good it wasn't overly sweet and had just enough watermelon flavor. Both tacos were also very food without the meats being overly salty (which I find a lot of places doing). I got three little things of salsa on request and they were all excellent. Very fresh tasting with great heat. I'll have to stop buy again and try a few more things.

The lady who took our order was so friendly and nice, answered our questions without hesitation. We got 2 for $5, one al pastor and one barbacoa. They were both good but the pastor was better. My mom got tinga and carnitas. She liked both. the tables were clean despite only one person taking orders and making the food. Would recommend this place.

I loved this food truck! Their street tacos are slightly larger than the ones you'd find in other Austin street taco shops. The tortillas weren't as soft as I was expecting (they tasted more like store bought tortillas). The proteins were wonderfully seasoned, although both were fairly spicy. Ask to try all three sauces - they were all delicious. We also purchased a passion fruit agua fresca. The medium size is $2 and the large size is $3. I would definitely recommend it, as it was refreshing in the hot day and complemented the heat of the tacos well. There is plenty of parking and seating space.

Solid place for $2 tacos. Came here on a whim to try since we always drive past it. The owners are super sweet and very friendly service. Love that you can have either corn or flour tortillas with your tacos. Salsas are pretty tasty too and you can buy some by the pint if you'd like. read more

Cheap, authentic Mexican food - everything that you could hope for. We need more places like this - family run restaurant, priced right with good flavor. Tacos are $2 a piece so I decided to try 3 of them. I got the bistec, carnitas and chicharron and all are pretty good. Today they only had corn tortillas, which saddened me at first, but these were amongst the better corn tortillas I've had in my life - its shocking that they're almost as soft and pliable as flour ones with better flavor. And the meats are pretty juicy and flavorful. Of the three, I liked the bistec the best - beefy, meaty flavor that's well seasoned. Chicarron probably comes in second - surprisingly spicy, yet flavorful but sadly loses that crispness that I like in my pig skin, which in turn made it chewy instead. The carnitas are alright. They cook everything to order, including making the tortillas fresh so it could take a while to get your food, so not the best place to go if you're in a rush but you will definitely get an amazing homemade meal if you're willing to stay. read more

With their home made delicious corn tortillas that make me opt for corn vs flour and their delicious chorizo, we will absolutly be making this a regular spot! This was my first time to Flavia's, and I am SOLD. I got the breakfast tostada, potato breakfast taco, avocado tostada, and cucumber agua fresca. All tasted super fresh; the tostadas were crispy, but not greasy, and the homemade corn tortilla was very flavorful. The tomatillo salsa was a revelation. It was tangy, fruity, and slightly spicy, with just enough cilantro and garlic to add complexity. I got my food to go, and everything was nicely packaged, with plenty of napkins for the mess I made in my enthusiasm. The prices were reasonable (I paid $9 before tip for what served as a solid lunch). I will definitely be back! read more

Delicious tacos at a reasonable price! I happened to get there right as they opened, and their breakfast tacos hit the spot. They're located in a small area with parking and several other food trucks. There is outdoor seating with umbrellas and some shaded seating. I'll definitely be coming back to try some of the other tacos! read more

Two words: Homemade Tortillas These are some of the best tacos I've had in my 18 months in Austin. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys tacos and likes good value - fantastic tacos at a low cost. Truly a hidden gem, too. I've never been to Flavias when there was more than 1 person in line. There is a short wait, because everything is made to order, but well worth the wait. read more

The tacos were great but I didn't return because they took my order without a smile and then flipped the screen around asking for a 20% tip minimum. This left a bad taste, even if the tacos are good. If you're going to ask for a tip without providing any service, at least muster a smile or something. read more

Flavia's Kitchen is crazy good. I had a chance to swing by for lunch today and ended up chowing down on 5 tacos - Barbacoa, Tinga, Apporiado, Al Pastor, and Carnitas. The tinga and the Al pastor were super tasty and really stuck out for me. Flavia herself was manning the helm and was incredibly kind and helpful. I'd go again and again! read more

This (single mother) woman-owned business and her story are incredible. Food tastes absolutely homemade reminds me of my immigrant mother's cooking. Very affordable. That lot is lucky to have Flavia's Kitchen but I'll follow her wherever she goes. My favorite is the gorditas plate. 10/10 She also caters - for business conferences and meetings, school functions, weddings etc. Best and most precious thing about the business is that her teenage daughters help her run the truck. Flavia likes to say that her daughters are her supervisor. Crying. read more

I wish this place was open more days during the week, but you can't beat a $2.50 Gordita loaded up with lots of deliciousness! These things are huge as well. Only open Fri-Sun until 8pm, but definitely worth the visit. The juiced watermelon is yummy and refreshing. read more

Best Mexican style street tacos in austin. So incredibly spicy and flavorful. In a little food truck park with parking. Took about 10 mins to have the order ready but it was worth the wait. Very delicious and very well priced. Not surprising they made it to best 100 eats in Texas. read more

Love, love, love the food here. Tacos filled with flavor and tortillas made to order make this trailer one of my favorites here in Austin. If you haven't stopped by yet you have to make a special trip on Saturdays for their posole. Super rich, satisfying and full of chili (not spicy but lots of chili flavor) I always have to check to see if my lips are still red from being coated with the caldo. read more

After finding this food truck park and trying a few of the other spots here, which are also very well rated, I was very happy to try Flavia's and see that it too is delicious. The food here is authentic Mexican food, and pretty cheap. The service is friendly, and the food is made to order so while it takes a bit, it's definitely worth it. We've come here twice now and tried both their breakfast and lunch items (have gotten the gordita as well as tried several tacos). Pretty solid salsa too. read more

The young lady taking my order was rude. I asked a simple question & she rolled her eyes at me. The food was 2 out of 5 for me. I got 2 fajita tacos & 2 tinga. The green salsa was the only good part. I can't begin to count the number of tacos i've tried in Austin but this one def ranks in the top 5. Fresh, home made tortillas and simple yet flavorful tacos in every bite. I wish they were open during the week, though. At 2 dollars a pop, this will be my new spot in the south side. read more

She does make some great tacos here. She takes the extra time to make sure you get good quality food and good customer service. When I was there I really didn't feel like walking across the street for coffee. So , she was nice enough to offer me some of hers at no charge. She told me she always keeps coffee in the trailer for herself. So I just gave a bigger tip. She also says to let her know if I ever want to bring a group of people, like for a birthday brunch and she will prepare a special table for us. And my birthday is April 7. Lol. The donut is so indulgent and was served warm with the most delectable flavor combinations. Tried the Son of a Peach with cream cheese icing, spiced peach filling, cake mix topping, cinnamon and sugar with honey butter. This one was a bit too overindulgent and sweet for my liking but was definitely worth a try. Portions are huge and can be shared as the donut is not as good warmed over. From speaking with Tony Jr. today, they also have a restaurant in Pflugerville. I ordered jerk chicken, which fell off the bones and came with cabbage, rice and peas and plantain. I have traveled to Jamaica a couple of times, this Jamaican food was the real deal. The jerk chicken was a bit spicey but not set your tongue on fire spicey. The rice and peas along with the cabbage was perfectly seasoned. The standout for me was the sweet plantain, spoken like a plantain connoisseur. The plantain was sweet on the inside and slightly charred on the outside...perfect combination. The only improvement would have been for me to get a side of plantain. My food was delivered fast and hot. Tony Jr. was super personable and friendly. There is seating in the center of the food truck park. You hear tunes being played in the background. The food truck park is at the core of East Austin in a semi-residential area. Street parking is available for diners. I look forward to trying curry goat and oxtails and more.

We had such an amazing time on Lake Travis thanks to Willo and Float On. Everything about the…read moreexperience was extremely streamlined from booking to filling out waivers to navigating to the marina. Willo gave superb instructions on operating and piloting the boat including an overview of relevant customs and laws while out on the water. Our group had six adults and one 2-year old and they had plenty of water safety devices for all ages. On a side note, it was wonderful to see how genuinely excited Willo was about Lake Travis once again having a healthy water level after several dry years. In terms of our experience on the lake, we got excellent advice on where to travel based on our team's interests and after following his directions it felt like we had arrived on our own private lake. We probably only saw a handful of other boats during our 3-hour excursion and that was only in passing. The boat came with a Garmin GPS that made it really easy to retrace our steps. For those wondering, there was excellent cell phone service out on the lake and we were able to use our phone GPS, make calls, and stream music. The boat had some nice integrated speakers with Bluetooth connectivity and we were able to jam out to our own tunes. There was also a cool flotation device attached to the back of the boat called the Aqua Lily Pad which we unrolled after anchoring, we had multiple adults laying on it without sinking into the lake. Overall, we could not have asked for a better experience and we would highly recommend booking with Float On.

That level of service carried over to most of the staff on the boat, making the experience even more enjoyable. During the event, I was introduced to Paul, who was seated with a group of friends. He was introduced to me as the boat owner and came across as relaxed and not at all pushy--qualities I appreciate when considering a business, especially since part of my motivation for attending was to explore options for my birthday celebration. Unfortunately, Paul's friends left a negative impression. A couple of them outright refused to acknowledge me, turning away when a gentleman attempted to introduce me. Others made inappropriate jokes about my accent in a condescending and offensive manner. One individual even made vulgar comments, implying that Paul should get my phone number to discuss event planning details later, which was completely unprofessional and inappropriate. While the event itself was enjoyable, the boat ride interesting, the behavior of those around the boat owner and the fact that the boat owner never replied to my text message trying to discuss my event, was disappointing and detracted from my overall experience. This experience left me with a negative impression of the boat's management, and I strongly feel that they are not welcoming to immigrants. The group consisted of older white men whose behavior was filled with prejudice and hostility. And for that reason I felt compelled to post a review discouraging people like me- and those against this type of behavior - to stay away and make better choices. We can use our money to invest in a much better experience elsewhere I left the boat traumatized and truly disgusted by those old men behaviors. Do better!
