We loved the ribs but we didn't like the mac and cheese either time we tried it. The mac and cheese looks bomb but it didn't hit the mark

Their kindness and friendliness made us feel right at home, and they offered wonderful insights into the food and culture of Belize--a destination we're eager to visit. The menu is delightfully simple, featuring chicken and rice, but don't let that fool you. This isn't like anything you've tasted before! The chicken is bursting with flavor, and the rice is simply to die for. They serve the food in take-out containers, which adds a casual charm to the dining experience--it's actually quite brilliant. Portland, you absolutely need to check these folks out and tell all your friends. Love Belizean is a culinary treasure that deserves all the attention it can get. Thank you both for such a memorable meal!

I am drooling thinking about this place already. The service was on par. Our server came over and described the makings of the plate, and the sauces and how to use. A++++

The space is very open and light, which was surprising given the wood fire theme, but I really like the space, and there's a full view of the kitchen. Cocktails: - Jungle mist: rum based, with guava, garlic, sour orange; loved the foam on this - Dife Sosye: tequila based with hibiscus They had a great wine list with lots of local options, and they have an impressive zero proof program too. Food: - Plantain brioche: with vegan butter. We brought our young kids, and they were happy just eating this brioche - Griyo twice cooked pork: the national dish! Roasted and fried pork shoulder - a bit crisped but not dry, great flavor. It came with bannann peze (like a plantain cake), avocado, pickled cabbage and radish. Eat everything together for tons of flavor and textures - Peanut creamed greens: collared greens with peanut and coconut cream. This was definitely the most interesting dish of greens I've had - Head on prawns: I wish I could buy the grilled pineapple and African pepper sauce it sat on. I wiped up every last bit of that sauce - Epis brined chicken: wood fired half chicken, served over fresh grilled corn and a corn puree. The chicken had great smoke flavor, even on the breast. We were too full for dessert, but we saw multiple people ordering the their version of the baked Alaska. Staff were friendly, and pacing was good. All the flavors were bold but cohesive, and it was a great opportunity to try live fire Haitian cuisine. All of kann's accolades are well deserved!

I saw some reviews talk about how they felt pressured to order more dishes than they originally wanted and I can definitely agree that that was my experience as well. When we first checked in for our reservation as well, we were completely ignored for several minutes by the host who was on their phone. However, once we were seated service was attentive. The staff make sure to only bring the next dish over to you once you've finished the previous dish, and will make sure that both parties are at the table before serving you. In terms of ambiance we definitely loved the open kitchen concept and seeing the food being prepared right in front of us. However, the acoustics of the restaurant amplified every conversation and it felt like you had to almost shout to hear across the table. Now finally, about the food- the dishes all had very unique flavors that somehow blended together well but were all uniformly salty (coming from someone who loves salty and savory food). The worst offender was the brined chicken - so salty I couldn't finish it even after drinking a full pitcher of water. The plantain brioche was probably my favorite thing, along with the coffee roasted carrots (though the coffee flavor did not really come through). If I come back I definitely will not be getting the brined chicken again.

From the front gate to the front room, you can feel the calm, one-ness of Jamaican hospitality. We were greeted at the gate and lead to our seats by a wonderfully positive gentleman who welcomed us to our first visit and took our order with a smile. We tried the Jerk Chicken with Bread. Served with rice and cabbage. All very flavorful and well portioned. Couldn't pass up trying several Pies. The beef patty was solid...but that Jerk Chicken is SOOOOO good, it was the Chicken patty that edged out above the veggie and beef. All were baked with the best patty crust any hand pie could offer. We're going back and this time we're bringing the girls because the other folks dining there were raving about the Ox tail. Wife loves Ox tail and we had no room in our belly to give it a go. Also, recommend the Watermemlon juice. It was perfect with the spices of the Jerk Chicken.

We enjoyed the food on Puerto Rico on our cruise so this was a treat. The restaurant was vibrant with island decor and family photos on the walls. My wife ordered a Mojito and I had a Rum and Coke. The mojito was underwhelming and was missing flavor. On to the food..... I ordered the Mofongo with pork and my wife had the garlic chicken. My meal was moist and tasty along with being filling. The garlic chicken was pounded thin and overcooked, very dry and hard to eat. The accompanying beans, rice and salad were very good. We ordered the Tenderized Steak Marinated in a Garlicy Vinegar sauce, the Mofongo with roasted pork, and empanadas to share. The standout dish for me was the Mofongo. It was a unique dish that I hadn't tried before. It came in like one of the mortar shaped bowls with like smashed plantains and the slow roasted pork in the middle. It was pretty good. The Marinated Steak was decent and had a good flavor to it, but the Mofongo would be my recommendation.

I got the croissant triple 'B' and my partner got the oeufs au benedicte. Although both dishes were good portions, I do believe that the prices were a bit pricey for what they are.
