Came to this place because I am from KC and love bbq and also love to cook brisket myself. I also read a review that the brisket sandwich was pretty good here. I won't be coming back. The gentleman who runs the place is very friendly. I noticed the price for the special was $12.95 but then he told me it was $14.06 with tax. The sign that he has that states special of the day "brisket sandwich" $12.95 and does not state anything about plus tax at all. So that was a surprise. The other thing the sign does not say it comes with a small bag of lays chips either. I guess the chips he gives you is consolation for the fatty, salty, chewy, fatty small two pieces of brisket he puts on the sandwich. Plus who adds lettuce to a brisket sandwich anyways. I took two bites. The first bite was full of fat and tough chewy, salty brisket. The second bite the whole piece of fatty brisket came out from between the buns and the sandwich eating part for me was over. I left the bun, lettuce and pickles on the to go container and tried to choke down a bite or two of some of the salty, fatty, undercooked brisket that remained. To me, brisket should be tender and you should be able to gently bite into it and you get your bite. This was spongy and too tough to even bite into. Then, I went over to the taco truck and got a quesadilla because I was still hungry and their food was not much better either. Found myself out in Battleground and hungry for some BBQ! Nice, quick and friendly service. I ordered the Brisket Sandwich which had two large pieces of meat inside. The meat was pretty tender and flavorful. Overall a yummy spot! I didnt get any sides but if in the area again would definitely want to try some of the beans or Mac and cheese. read more

Delicious. I actually went to this food truck pod just checking things out, but The Pit's menu drew me in even without any photos of the food. The sampler platter is a great place to start. The chicken was moist, well-seasoned and really good, but then everything just kept getting better. The pulled pork was great, the brisket too, and then a smoked sausage that's very similar to a hot link, also good. Those ribs though?? Yikes. Those are some really good ribs. I wasn't huge on the potato salad, to be honest. A little bit under-seasoned for me. But the beans were unique and really good. It tasted like they have a lot of toasted peppercorns in them, so they have some zing but aren't spicy in the conventional sense. Gentleman inside of the truck was very nice and a massive plate of food was served fairly quickly. I will definitely be going back! read more

Overall grade: C- This ain't Texas. It was "ok," but nothing special. I think when you combine low overhead with high prices, some bit of extra should go into the food. Not here. We had a brisket sandwich (special - sandwich only) and a tritip sandwich that came with a bag of chips. Plus two sides of beans and one of potato salad. The meats were cool and dry, maybe even overcooked or kept too long. The buns were a couple days old grocery store type, not heated or treated in any way, a bit of lettuce, a dab of bbq sauce and a tiny slice of pickled red onion. Quantity was also low, but not horribly so. The beans were cool, dry and too spicy. The potato salad was too chunky and bland. We won't be going back. This could be a gold mine if they'd step-up the food. read more

I picked up an order from this guy, and he would not even open the window to let me know anything; he gestured with 1 finger through the plexiglass, and left me out there for 5 minutes after it was supposed to be ready, so I wasn't even sure if he knew it was my order that I was there for. When he finally did open the window, he handed a bag out and turned away; I had to ask him if it was my name and he then gave me a yes only. The food is good, but don't expect anything but that, and I shudder to think what would happen if there was an order problem. read more

Walked down in the weekend. This was one of the only carts open. Ended up getting the special which was mac n cheese with your choice of pulled pork/chicken or brisket. Went with the one with brisket and a side of greens. There was only 1 guy working and it took about 20 minutes for it to be ready. Mac with brisket was just ok. Most of the brisket was fat and didn't taste all that great. Collard greens were great though....they had chunks of ham hock in there. Not bad but I make better bbq at home by a long shot. Wow I was certainly pleased with my lunch choice today! The loaded potato was so delicious and huge! I also got a side of Mac and cheese which was also delicious. They were so nice I didn't know the potato came with a protein and had asked for pulled pork on my Mac. He was so helpful on letting me know the toppings for each and ended up just getting the Mac as is. You get a beeper to wait for your food to be ready and I only waited maybe less than 3min for my food. He was so nice he even gave me napkins and silverware without even asking. The food cart ambiance is very pleasing and with easy parking and lots of seating you have plenty of choices. Lucky for me I live up the street so I got to indulge at home! read more

This guy was legit South Carolina! His ribs were falling off the bone delicious! The collards were the best ever! And the brown suet was like butter! The flavor was awesome and the smoke rings visible. This guy sure knows what he's doing! Definitely going back!!! read more

My son and grandson came to visit. They love ribs and had them in many states, I sent them to pick up a rack, when they got back, they were both raving "those are the best we ever had". Seems when they got to the truck they were given a sample. We had a great dinner, and it is on their list when they visit. The wife and I ordered brisket, loaded nachos and smoked sausage, all of it was seasoned super well and tasted amazing only thing is assuming it being later in the day the brisket was a little dry but was tender and flavorful! Husband and I came and tried the Pulled Pork and the Ribs. I really loved it! I got the Coleslaw as a side and my husband got Baked Beans. I am a Coleslaw fan and I loved it. The meat was tender and the sides are an amazing price, I find that I hate when I go to BBQ spots and the meat is expensive and the sides are almost too much! Got the Tri Tip meal with coleslaw. The bag felt very light as I was walking over to the picnic tables. Three slices of meat, unseasoned, fairly tender but nothing extraordinary, a tiny container of barbecue sauce and the top third of a very small piece of cornbread. The meat was decent, but very disappointing especially considering the rave reviews. Coleslaw was decent. I was a firefighter for 30 years and a meal like that would not have been an acceptable effort in the firehouse. Not motivated to return, not a good value for $16. read more

SUPER TASTY!! Great tasting BBQ, at a great price and most importantly served by great people! I tried the ribs, brisket, and pulled pork -- all were out of this world. Owner even me a fresh hot rib while waiting for my food and it melted off the bone. The potato salad and cole slaw were also very very tasty. Greatly disappointed in the quality, presentation, and quantity. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich and as soon as I was handed the meal, I knew by the weight of the plastic bag that I was going to be sorry. I was right. I opened my container to find a cold, store bought, small, plain hamburger bun which wasn't toasted and barely a handful of pulled pork. Such a sorry looking sandwich and to think I paid $14.95! (Plus a 20% Tip) Ouch! I would think that owning a business would greatly hope for, and retain repeat customers but I for one will not be going back for more. (Or should I say less) read more
