My son suggested we try this spot. I've had home cooked Jamaican food before, this was the best I've ever had. The beef patty was solid...but that Jerk Chicken is SOOOOO good, it was the Chicken patty that edged out above the veggie and beef. All were baked with the best patty crust any hand pie could offer. We're going back and this time we're bringing the girls because the other folks dining there were raving about the Ox tail. Wife loves Ox tail and we had no room in our belly to give it a go. The Jerk Chicken was tender and packed quite a bit of heat. I loved it with a side of super fluffy Coco Bread. The Oxtail was also nice and flavorful with lots of caramelized tender meat. Its located in the Cathedral Park/St. Johns area. Street parking is your option but we did not have an issue. If you have a large party I would highly recommend that you plan this out with the owner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]One of the many unique aspects is the craftsman style home, that makes up the Jamaica house, from the Jamaican colors to the decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You walk up from the street to a main gate, you enter through the front door of the home, as you enter you are greeted by a very friendly Jamaican man, dreads and all. My son and I ordered the Jerk Chicken, it is served with white rice and pinto beans and cabbage salad. You can order from a variety of sides at a cost like fried plantains. This is very important, you must be prepared for the spice level of the Jerk Chicken, I can handle a high spice level but know its like a 4 level given a scale of 1-5, even at this heat, the Jerk Chicken flavor is out of this world, I finished my entire dinner, the chicken portion is large, maybe enough for 2, I washed it down with a Harritos. The service here was kind enough and I liked the music/decorations. It felt so nice when I stepped in. My issue was the food I ordered which was a beef patty, coco bread and a side of plantains. The beef patty was obviously microwaved...I'm really wondering if some of the Jamaican spots in Portland know that we know when patties are microwaved? I stopped going to other spots due to this but what also surprised me was opening my bag on the way home to see a slice of kinda dry hard dough bread instead of the coco bread I ordered. Why not just say it wasn't available? Paying for something you didn't get is overall a disappointment. I know other people love this spot and I actually still tell people to check it out cause maybe that day was an off day? Who knows. Unfortunately It just isn't the restaurant for me when I need my Jamaican food fix. read more

I placed an order through their preferred method on the site. I got confirmation in the time my order would be ready, I drove across town passing 3 other Jamaican restaurants only to get there at 6:16 pm and it is stated they close at 8pm only for as I'm driving up about a half a block away someone to be walking a the gate and closing the gate. I thought they were just being polite to walk the customer to the I pull up all the lights are the gate is locked and I'm getting emails saying that my food is ready to be picked up which left me livid for wasting all that time and gas and I had to call the voicemail was full. I had already paid for my order so wait till Monday to dispute the charge and they didn't even contact their ordering company or whoever they go through to tell them that they were closing early, extremely frustrating and unprofessional. . read more

Food was phenomenal. The jerk chicken was one of the best plates of Jamaican food I've ever had. My partner got the jerk tofu, which was also delicious. Super cute place! I happen to just drive by the location. We stopped in just to try something so we could have a little taste of Jamaica! So we shared the Chicken Curry. The Chicken was delicious! Flavorful, juicy and very tender. It came along side with rice and veggies! The rice was a tad bit dry. So I added the juices from the chicken to help out that rice! Vegetables: Cabbage and carrots just okay. The waiter was nice. He was pleasant to be around. I will be back for sure to try that Jerk Chicken and a few other things! We went in on a sunny, but cold fall day and were greeted by the owner who was watching the smoker in the outside dining area in front of the restaurant. We were warmly ushered into the restaurant to order our food. The young man who took our order was kind and attentive. We ended up getting the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken, and a small Beef Patty. The food was delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about it... Both chicken dishes were fall-off-the-bone tender and so well seasoned. The Jamaican Jerk Chicken was my favorite: smoked to perfection! Stopped in for a late lunch and was just delighted with Jerk Chicken. I am a huge fan of Jamaican cuisine and in my travels I like trying the local offerings when I can find them.
