okay, i can be generous with the five stars but this place GENUINELY deserves every ounce of the 5/5. the food was unlike anything my boyfriend and i ever had before. we started off w the bruschetta, prosciutto, fig, grape, and grilled bread, and that was phenomenal. the bread was warm and crunchy on the outside, but fluffy and soft on the inside. that paired with the soft creamy bruschetta, topped with thin slices of salty prosciutto and sweet warm grilled figs hit every taste bud in my mouth. for entrees, we got the seafood etouffee, which was so packed with plump scallops, jumbo shrimps, sweet crab meat, and smoky sausage. so robust and flavorful. to increase variety, we also got this tropical chicken breast dish. the breast was so moist and soaked in the tastiest red curry, paired with sweet mango salsa and perfectly grilled veggies. this restaurant was such a treat. if we are ever in the state (native californian here) we will certainly be back! read more

From the warm greeting as I entered and using my name from one phone call to the educated and friendly server with great suggestions, this place is a must try when you are in the area. With all the ancillary pieces working well, the main star is the food. From the cooked correctly (medium rare for those who don't know) Salmon caught 2 days ago to the Lobster Bisque, everything was delicious. Absolutely a must go to restaurant, but make sure you have a reservation. The place is fairly small. The food was excellent. They do daily menus, so what we had, might not be on your menu. My partner and I came here on a busy Saturday night and was informed there was over an hour wait. We placed our name down and walked next door for a quick drink. When it was our time, we walked back and was quickly seated. The space was very cute! We ordered and just chatted for a bit and the crab cakes came out first. It was so fast! But the best part, the crab cakes were amazing! The cakes were filled with Dungeness crabs! It was in every single bite. Our main entree came out soon after. I ordered the Seafood etoufee and my partner ordered the steak. The etoufee was amazing! Every spoon was full of seafood and the level of spice was no joke. I ordered level 4 and it was amazing. The spice took the dish to another level. However, my partner said his steak was a bit underwhelming for the price point; but the mashed potatoes and vegetables were good. Prices might seem high but you definitely get your money's worth. Quality seafood at a great quantity. We shared the Scallops and Polenta that came on a bed of this uniquely buttery and popcorn-y sauce. Both the scallops and polenta were cooked to crispy perfection. A rich dish but I would have loved to have one more. For mains, we tried the Jerk Back Ribs and Etuofee. The Back Ribs were big and juicy. Fall of the bone tender and covered in fruity sauce, paired with the sauteed vegetables and mango salsa this was delightful and filling. For the Etuofee, you can select the spiciness from 1-4. We're craving some heat and went with four and it did not disappoint. In hindsight, three would have suffice even for us who love spicy food but it's still so flavorful and addicting. Again, tons of big prawns, scallops, and crab legs covered in tasty sauce served with basmati rice. This was an amazing meal with such unique flavors, we didn't expect from a spot at the beach. Sometimes back to back nights since there are multiple entrees (beef stroganoff and étouffée) that we enjoy. They also change the menu quite often. This restaurant is a bit more pricey but by far our favorite in the area and worth every penny. The chef has an amazing way of using spices to bring the dishes to the next level. The service is super friendly and they make you feel like you are going over to a friend's place to have an amazing meal. Food - - Appetizers: 1) Crab cakes are a must. It's a nice portion and comes with an amazing flavorful sauce (got a kick to it). 2) island style chicken salad cups. 3) lobster bisque is silky and flavorful . - Entrees: 1) étouffée is a spicy (flavorful and has a kick if you choose to have a higher spice level) hearty dish filled with large chunks of different seafood on a bed of perfectly cooked rice. 2) beef stroganoff (only closer to fall) is a hug on a cold night. The beef is so soft it melts in your mouth. 3) their steak dish (different cuts depending on the night) with the red wine demi sauce. The red wine is light and helps bring out the steak flavor without being overpowering. A little restaurant on the north side of Cannon Beach. The menu is created daily based on the fresh ingredients they receive. We ordered a drink and tried the Caribbean Dungeness Crab Cakes, the Carlton Farms Bone-in Pork Chop and the Spring Chinook Salmon. The crab cakes were served with tangy/slightly spicy Bahamian sauce and some fresh mango pieces and slaw.... Very yummy. The braised pork chop was so tender, no knife was needed to cut it into pieces. The savory maple-bourbon gravy and mashed potatoes made this the best tasting pork chop we've had in a long while. The salmon was grilled to perfection served with just a hint of balsamic sauce drizzled on top... so good! We topped off the dinner with one of the dessert items on the menu, Marionberry pie with ice cream on top... yummm! The service is great with just enough attention without getting the feeling of being rushed. The ambiance is very good, perfect for a quiet dinner or a small party. Prices are a bit high, but the fresh, quality ingredients and the preparation of food is great and justifies the price. Friendly knowledgeable staff, and a gourmet but casual vibe. I live in Seattle and if the restaurant was there, I would go once a month. The fresh-made burrata with roasted figs and prosciutto are a must. This fall the specials included a homemade ravioli with creamy red sauce and a ton of crab leg sections. Ridiculous! I had a non-traditional beef stroganoff with perfect fresh pasta. Crème fraiche and a few vegetables put this dish into the "amazing" category. Very high quality beef. Been in Cannon Beach for 2 days and discovered this gem. It can be a bit awkward when dining single but they had no prob. I was seated promptly to a nice table. Collin was my server and was on his game. Brought everything I needed then retreated and return at the perfect moment. I ordered a bottle of Nebbiolo. It was nice but could have been a bit more intense. I drank the whole bottle so I guess it couldn't have been that bad! For my first course I had the halibut Cheeks. They we very good. The halibut was sweet and tender. The sauce that accompanied them was awesome. It had the perfect hot without being overpowering. Could have drank that s***. (P.S, I thought the breading was a bit thick, but would def order again.) For dinner I ordered the pork shank. OMFG. I ate the solid all meat section and thought I died and went to heaven. It was served on a bed of mashed taters and sauce with sautéed zucchini and tomatoes for the veggies. It was all the right stuff if you know what I mean. Josh the chef came out several times and asked about your food. He is super easy to talk to and very down to earth. A real treat. Since I'm here for 3 weeks I booked my Resy for next Thursday. If I could give Castaways more than 5 stars, I would. Great service, smaller dining area with dim lighting, and menu changes regularly. We've never been but have heard multiple recommendations and decided to check it out. Entrees are around $35-$55 (ish) but you can tell each dish is made with so much thought and flavor. We had the pleasure of eating dinner at Castaways on Friday evening, and we highly recommend as the best new dinner spot in Cannon Beach. I'll first start by saying that we've been coming to Cannon Beach 1-2 times a year for 30+ years. We always make a point of trying any new restaurants that have popped up, but none have been memorable until now. The select menu is unique and full of interesting combinations and flavors that you don't find often, certainly not in a little coastal town. Everything on the menu, including the specialty drinks, complimented each other. We had the jerk chicken lettuce cups as an appetizer which were a fantastic combination of flavors, cool and savory. I had the scallop and prawn etouffee...full of flavor and spices, and my husband had the rich and creamy lobster, crab, langoustine gnocchi. For dessert we had the deep fried rum raisin bread pudding cubes with crème fraiche. They were heavenly! The staff was great, and the chef came out and met with all the tables toward the end of the evening too. We can't wait to come back ext time we're in town! read more
