For 10-12 years we have purchased all of our running shoes and gear. Before marathons, triathlons we would head right over and get our shoes. Our 15-year-old has been getting her shoes there for the past four years when she was able to get adult size shoes. Purchased shoes for our daughter a week ago. Our daughter suffers from two forms of arthritis. One is specifically in her knees, and her shoes are crucial. Went in there the first guy we had to deal with was very inattentive yawning not asking any kind of question. Kind of a bump on the Lodge kind of guy. I tried to explain she has two forms of arthritis. He said that's not a big deal no concern. I stated it most definitely is a huge concern and it is a big deal. Look through a bunch of clothing and I had decided we were not going to be buying sneakers that day. We're gonna wait until somebody else with more knowledge would be there and help us. I did poke my head in the back room saw two ladies sitting back there one lady who is black haired glasses on the heavier side, only describing her just so you know to avoid her... snapped at me and stated he's very knowledgeable and went about our business. Put the clothing up on the counter and another man little older came over and said did you need some help and I stated that I did because the first guy was not very helpful at all and he redid all of the evaluation of her legs, her feet to the way she walked, and so on. I explained once again she had the arthritis issues and he said we can definitely put her in the right kind of shoe. We chatted and he said she most definitely needed to be in a neutral shoe. She walked around in it, and it felt comfortable, and we purchased them and a bunch of other clothing. She started running and field hockey with these shoes on, and every day would come home complaining that our cabs were aching. Her legs were hurting. They felt like she was running with blocks on her feet. I googled the type of shoe he put her in and sure enough. It was a stability shoe. She most definitely cannot wear stability. She needed a neutral. I called the store, asking to speak to the store manager or the store owner. The person on the other end stated he was the owner. I said oh good and I explained the whole situation and he said yeah that was me. I helped you I remember you. I said will you put her in a stability issue not the neutral that you said she most definitely needed. He stated oops. I said oops that's not an option, I said you have created some more leg issues that she truly did not need. He said I said oops are you bringing them back or what? I said wow OK, yes I'm bringing them back. He said how long before you'll be here? I said I'll be there shortly. I walk into the store he spotted me, turned around, went and hid in the back room !!!! A very sweet lady short haired brown haired lady with glasses came over and said are you returning these? I said yes I am! she said is everything OK? My response was no everything is not OK. Explain the whole story to her and she said well if you would like to bring her back in I would love to work with you. I said I had you in the beginning. Everything probably would've been different, however, the way that the owner responded and treated me I will never give this man another dime of my money!!! Buyer beware avoid the store ! The lady stated you have a long, huge history of purchasing with us. I said yes we have spent a ton of money here only to be treated like this so I will never be back.!!! read more

I went in and tried to return shoes on 2 separate occasions and was told one time that my $35 gift certificate couldn't be redeemed with the return and she was absolutely rude about it. I then took the shoes and had to call back to find a capable employee (this guy was nice), and made the return. On the other occasion the lady was sarcastic when I asked about a second opinion on the return to my card...bc she clearly wasn't sure about what she was doing either. Long story short, good place to buy shoes but don't try to return them. If you do, ask a capable employee...there are a couple in there...or just order online (to avoid these 2 ladies). Buying shoes is usually so much fun but they sucked the joy out of the experience. read more

I went to get new running shoes,one associate working with a customer, I was willing to wait,but after 12 minutes of waiting, she went to get shoes for the other customer, and finally sends her associate out to help me,I was the only other person in the store. Why did they not tell the other associate that there was a customer waiting to be helped?! read more

This is a good store for beginner/novice runners to find a shoe that will work for you. They are friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. Experienced runners may feel a bit put-off by the "expert" advice that comes without solicitation. I get the sense that the staff are pressured to "know it all" about running, even if they have less experience then the client. The location is convenient, plenty of parking, and they have a decent selection of clothing and accessories. read more

Just moved to Burlington and needed to get a new pair of running shoes. I prefer Brooks and was very happy they didn't try to push another shoe manufacturer on me. Overall the staff was helpful. I like that they will order a shoe if you don't like the color schemes they carry. read more

Went in today to pick up a race bib and get a new pair of running shoes with a gift certificate. The guy who helped me was friendly, professional, and clearly interested in getting the right shoe for me. I would have left then, happy with my purchase, if I hadn't noticed the winter sale rack (buy 1 get 2 free!). As I was trying clothes on, I overheard an employee talking to a new customer, who was looking for a particular item. The item was out of stock at the store in her size, so the employee called another store, which did have the item. Pretty normal & helpful- the woman mentioned she needed the item for the race 9AM start the next day. No problem! The store arranged to have the item ready for her at race registration in the morning. Long story short - great customer service and a nice selection of items. read more

After landing in Burlington, on my way to run the VT 100, I realized that I forgot my Garmin charger at home. I decided to stop by Fleet Feet, thinking that I might just have to buy a new watch. Instead, they offered to loan me a charger (that weird alligator clip), telling me to "bring it back whenever you've found your charger." They didn't even ask for my name -- just handed me the charger, and watched me walk out the door. When I returned the charger on Monday, they asked how the race went, and off I went to the airport. read more

Reasons I love Fleet Feet and keep coming back despite the fact that I have moved away (China for 2 years, Boston for 3) and have other shoe stores I could go to: 1. They take the time to work with me on finding the right fit; 2. They give out great advice not only on finding the right shoe but also the right equipment; 3. EVERYONE at the store is incredibly friendly and truly cares, even by VT standards; 4. They go above and beyond to take care of their customers. Case in point: I recently bought a new pair of shoes from a brand I have bought before. First, when I purchased them, they didn't have my size. No problem--they special ordered them IN THE COLOR I WANTED and called me as soon as they were in. It was great when they called, too, because the person on the phone was so excited for me, saying that "they're the coolest looking pair of shoes I've seen!" When I got the shoes, he was right--they're freaking awesome. Fast forward to me running in them for the second time. My left foot hurt. No biggie, I thought. Just a new shoe. Third time in them, I took the shoe off and my toe was bleeding. Not cool. So, today I called in and spoke with the same dude who called me originally. I explained my situation and this is what they did for me: 1. They would call in for a replacement pair AND send them to me when they got in!!!!; 2. Since I'm not local anymore, they told me that I could either ship them back to the store OR I can bring them back the next time I'm in town. Seriously--where else do you get that kind of service??? A while ago, I also recommended that my dad go there because he was just starting to run. He had a fantastic experience as well and they helped him find the "most comfortable pair of sneakers" he has ever owned. Every time I speak to him on the phone, he talks about how much he loves the shoes and how it feels like he's wearing nothing on his feet. Yes, the prices at Fleet Feet might be high, but you are not just paying for the shoe/accessory/whatever. You are also getting expert advice from a group of fellow runners who genuinely want you to have the best experience both in the store and on the trail. I don't usually give bad reviews, but was pretty surprised with the service here. Not sure if I hit them on a bad day. There were three other people in the store . The employee was assisting a customer who clearly was going to take some time, which is understandable, but they didn't even acknowledge the other people standing around waiting for help. After standing there for 20 minutes, without any indication of when I would be helped, I finally indicated I was in a bit of a rush and asked if there would be a better time to stop by or if I could make an appointment. He said he wasn't really sure. I love to shop local, but it was frustrating that they made it so difficult. I might give them another try based on the other reviews, as it seems like once they do have time they have a lot of expertise, but my first experience was pretty poor. read more

I like the store but the guy that waited on me today was so lazy. He sat there the whole time and didn't offer to show me anything on the apparel side nor did he show me the sale racks. I tried on a bunch of stuff and left them in the dressing room. He can pick them up if he can get off his butt. I did buy couple of things, and had to carry them out WITHOUT A BAG!! They were out of bags! Not even an old shopping bag from the grocery store. Really? The guy in from of me bout 50 small supplements and he had to stuff them in his pocket. Friendly, efficient, and comfortable! I hate feet, so I typically buy cheap sneakers and call it a day, but after shopping here, I feel so much more comfortable finding the right shoe. They have the technology to measure every part of your feet and use the measurements to find the perfect shoe for you. read more

I think they have a great selection of running shoes and apparel, but a couple of the staff members are really full of themselves. When they should be asking me about my running style (for shoe fitting) the conversation always ends up back to them and how many races they are in, etc. Kind of weird. The owners are very nice and I prefer to deal with them, but they are not always on the floor. read more

This place and the staff are great! I went in for a new pair of running shoes and they spent an hour with me. They measure your feet and watch you walk/run both barefoot and in your old shoes (bring them in so they can see how they wore down). They gave me over 10 pairs of shoes to try on and they let you test them on a treadmill or outside to see how you like them. I will definitely go back for my next pair of shoes. read more

The prices are high but the staff does an excellent job fitting you for your gear and educating you on how to take care of your running supplies and at which point you'll need to replace your gear. read more
