Every time I have gone into Lennie's in Williston, I have felt as if the staff there was way to busy to greet me, let alone help me find what I am looking for. I got the impression that they were too self absorbed in their ''deep conversations" with each other that none could be bothered to stop leaning on the counter and actually acknowledge my presence in their store. I have also heard a lot of complaints about Lennie's return and exchange policies. Recently, a new store called Boot Barn opened in the Williston Marketplace in the old Christmas Tree Shop location right next to Best Buy and easy walking distance to Dick's Sporting Goods, Starbucks, Chili's and Longhorn restaurants. The Boot Barn carries items similar to Lennie's, but they have a far better selection, the store is much nicer, plus the staff is super nice. It's my new favorite work wear store. If you want to feel good about yourself, try Boot Barn instead of being ignored at Lennie's. read more

Purchased some shoes online, and they arrived SUPER fast! Shoes are perfect and fit great, and I was so happy to find the exact color I was looking for at Lenny's even though it was out of stock on the actual shoe maker's website. I'll definitely be shopping here again. read more

I bought a pair of shoes after having a hard time finding what I was looking for with no help, in a rush to checkout I didn't try them on since it was my normal size. When I got home I tried them on and walked around a bit in my house to see how they felt and quickly realized they were too tight. I went back to exchange them for a bigger size and was told the shoes were worn outside and scuffed beyond being able to return. There are no scuffs on these shoes at all, just some dust on the bottoms. I am very upset that I am stuck with a pair of shoes that are brand new but don't fit me and have to spend even more money to buy a pair that does fit me properly for work. read more

What a crappy store! Horrible customer service, walked from the entrance to the back of store back to entrance. Not one employee acknowledged me, no "hi," no "can I help you?" Overheard an employee, think her name was Celeste...not certain, bitching about the manager. She looked like she was hired right out of high school and had all kinds of colorful things to say. Personally, you want to bash your manager, pick another spot. Here's a clue...If your employees won't provide customers service then you most likely treat your employees like crap. Close the store, you just can't compete. Update: I noticed a trend in the reviews...this store's customer service has declined dramatically since 2017. The owner(s) should fire the entire staff including managers. Start fresh with a new crew AND train them in good customer service. Otherwise people (like myself), will turn to on line shopping so I don't have to put up with Lenny's employees who lack common social skills. read more

Today I went in in hopes of purchasing three pairs of boots. I carried around a shoe for twenty minutes while what looked like the only sales person focused on a friend. No acknowledgement that I was there or that my turn to be served would come later. I left frustrated, without purchasing anything. I did try to contact Lenny's directly, but could not anonymously. read more

My experiences have been great at Lenney's. No body bugs me until I ask, then they bring me what I want. They usually have what I came in for. The products are good quality and hold up. Especially when I'm hunting crow's! read more

We went in today looking for shoes for my husband and my (just newly) 2 year old had to use the bathroom so we ran in, asked to use the restroom and were DENIED saying it was closed due to "COVID" - which is total bullshit. I proceeded to ask another employee thinking someone must sympathize with us/her and let her in...nope! Response from the gentleman was "there is a Mobil down the street," as if getting my 2 year old all loaded back into the car and into her car seat was logical.... VERY horrible customer service for a locally owned "family" business. My husband also used to work there and we will NOT be providing any further business there. read more

We made our seasonal trip to Lenny's today for new shoes for the kids. This is the kind of shoe store that I remember going to as a child. They have a really varied selection of practical outdoor shoes--Keens, Merrells, Tiva, and so much more. I like that they have most shoes out on the sales floor as I always hate sending sales people back and forth when trying shoes on little kids. I only have to do this when buying sneakers. They have a great selection for young children. The prices are what you would expect of higher quality shoes. The service is good. They are well staffed and friendly. Maneuvering a double stroller in the store is a little dicey. But it is manageable which is important when shopping with two small children. Plus it makes it much easier to try the shoes on the kids. read more

Simply a great experience. So I was passing by Lenny's to get some coffee, and realized that a) I'm new to Vermont, b) I have no winter boots, and c) I was walking by a shoe and apparel store. I checked it out on Yelp while drinking my coffee, and saw a few negative reviews focused on customer service. I also saw that the store manager had responded to each, and noted that the reviewers were located in CA. Those two negatives weren't enough to keep me out, so in I plunged. The store was busy, it being a Sunday afternoon in the winter. Still, I was approached within 45 seconds to see if I needed help finding anything. The guy asked questions about how I would use the boots, explained how boot ratings work, and brought me some options. 15 minutes later I was out of there with my new boots. Side note: The reason I remained bootless into a Vermont January was the utterly lacking selection and stock levels at EMS. I'll be coming back to Lenny's to outfit my kid. read more

We bought $300.00 worth of gift cards for Christmas and they would not give Lenny's Loot like they would if we had bought merchandise. I don't understand what the difference is....you buy merchandise or gift cards for $300.00. To us, it all seems to be the same. Even though it says on their website what the policy is...in small print...it's not very customer service oriented and our family is very disappointed with this policy. read more

Went here to buy winter boots. Staff were talking with each other but didn't welcome me or ask if I needed help. The boots are set out with the boxes but these are not bargains. To me high quality full price shoes require sine service. After half an hour one woman says to ask for any help I needed. Also I'd asked about sales. They said I needed their flyer but didn't help me get coupon. We called them from the store and the owner offered us a discount. The staff laughed about it. We went to Danform shoes today. Totally different experience. Staff helped me with all my boots. Sized my feet discussed options. And gave me hint about a sale tomorrow. Needless to say I am not going back to Lenny's. They really lost an opportunity as we just moved back from LA and I have no winter shoes I'm going through be buying at least four pairs from Danform. What has variety and has my size. read more

I have been to Lenny's plenty of times, but there was something about this visit that turned me away. I went in looking at Keen hikers, as I always do, and was being helped by a young fellow, Christian. He was pleasant to work with, and was not my problem at all. The issue was the way he was treated within the store. As he was coming out with a couple of shoes for me someone pulled him aside, and was correcting him severely to the point that I wanted to get up ad walk out. I felt bad for the boy. As he made his way over with the shoes I asked him who that women was, and his response was " I think I am going to get fired, that is my district manager and she hates me." I am not sure of the reasoning behind this, but I was quite deterred because of how it came into my lap, and I hope this is not common practice. read more

They've answered my many questions and given me information about sales and deals on their clothes because their shoes and clothes, while AWESOME, are pretty expensive for someone in their early/mid-20s. I have recently moved away from the Williston Area and what I miss the most is Lenny's Shoe and Apparel. They have the most basic, practical shoes ever and the staff is top notch. Who ever took over that business to manage it is doing a heck of a job! They need to start a store here in South Carolina, they would fit right in. Recently, I was in need of a pair of hiking boots for an upcoming hiking retreat I was attending and went to Lenny's (Williston) because I've always been pleased with their footwear selection. I had several questions and was helped by an employee named Jackie who had also helped me with clothing purchases in the past. She was knowledgeable about the characteristics of the different brands and styles, answered all my questions sufficiently, and set me up with a few pairs to try. Jackie was attentive, even with several other shoppers around, helped me compare, and brought additional size/width options based on my feedback. She was not just reactive to my questions and requests, she was proactive and seemed genuinely invested in helping me find what would be the best choice for me. A few weeks later I stopped into the store again and ran into Jackie. She remembered what I bought (even the hiking socks, and that I was headed to a hiking retreat!) and asked how they worked out for me. I already liked Lenny's due to the brands they carry and their selection, but this experience really solidified my appreciation of this store. Jackie is fantastic! I love the merchandise in this store but I was there yesterday to buy shoes and I had to seek out someone to help me. I obviously disturbed her even though no other customers were vying for her attention. She was rude and insulting, making comments as if I were a child. I went into the store looking for work boots. A very energetic women came up to me with the name tag that stated "District Manager" This was hard to swallow after speaking with her for more than 5 minutes. She knew nothing about the products I was looking for or any of the technologies. I was looking for a non-insulated, non-waterproof pair of boots by georgia, and she tried putting me in a pair of $200 plus pair of Chippewas. I asked her why they were so expensive she said and I quote "They are made right here in Vermont". I had to leave. I went over to Williston Workwear, and settled with a pair of Thorgood boots....Lenny's is changing for the worse this used to be a store I could go to and buy things for work now it is turning into a joke. This "District Manager" lacked basic common sense, and had no clue what she was selling. Horrible Service, but good products......Too bad...... read more
