Very good experience with my first experience at Fleet Feet. Instantly greeted by an employee asking the purpose of the visit and how they can help. My buddy and I were fortunate to be assisted by (Allie? sp?). She was pretty knowledgeable with the shoes and very patient with us. A few general questions to start off then they scan your feet (10 seconds or so). She told us what we need to know and what shoes best would fit our needs. Altogether she brought out probably close to a dozen shoes for the both of us to try on. Again, very patient with how we tried on each shoe and walked around, gave thoughts on looks/feel/price - did not feel any pressure at all to buy a specific or any shoe. Prices are pretty comparable to other shoe stores but definitely would not get the level of service Fleet Feet offered. A variety of brands including NB, Brooks, Hoka, OC & more. The people are so nice there, but I bought a pair of shoes three months ago at the advice of a sales consultant there and the shoes have been too big and they do not have the support I need. I usually buy Hokas and the sales woman convinced me to buy New balance. I went to take them back and they will not take them back, even though I am not satisfied with the shoe. I have been a customer for several years. I will also say because they're a small business, they do not have the selection that I can get online so I will be buying all my future athletic shoes online. I prefer to deal with the manufacturer directly because I feel like they stand behind their product if I don't like it. Wow!!! Now, this is customer service. My nephew was looking for running shoes when he came in town for a visit. I was trying to decide which store to take him to and he mentions Fleet Feet as we passed by. He said, "that looks like a shoe store!" I proceeded to turn around having no idea what to expect. He's 15 and growing and has a tough time finding shoes he likes that fit him so I knew running shoes would be a challenge. When we entered everyone was in masks and I felt very safe. A man came immediately to ask what help we needed. They did a super cool scan of his feet and showed us a 3D rendering of his foot. In a few minutes, the man came back with 3 pair of shoes to try and shared in detail product info tailored to my nephew. I appreciated that he talked to him and not me. My nephew felt very catered to and felt comfortable asking questions when he can be shy. They have a room with a treadmill where he could test out the shoes. Needless to say, I didn't expect to spend that much on running shoes, but I've never seen my nephew so happy. They have a great rewards program as well. Flat feet at Fleet Feet! It's absolutely amazing as I grow older how obvious it is that so many of our qualities both internal and external are genetic and molded by our ancestors. I have watched kids become their parents with qualities they swore they would never have. Sometimes things like stubbornness or inquisitiveness or a ravenous appetite can be passed on from generation to generation. I have watched young people grow up to have the same big butt or the same brown curly hair as their Dad, or the long legs and fingers of their Mom. Although I am not giving us a carte blanche to accept everything about ourselves because we can blame it on genes, we can learn to be a little more forgiving of ourselves for qualities physically, emotionally or mentally that we find unsettling or unattractive. Rather, we must learn to become friends of those qualities for they are indeed a part of us and a part of our genetic makeup My Mom blessed me with intelligence, strength, resilience, curiosity, kindness, generosity and talent. She blessed me with thick black hair, olive skin, an open smile and good bone structure. My father blessed me with flat feet! For years I got away with wearing cheap shoes even though I should have been wearing something of quality on my two flat tootsies. As you get older, things start to catch up with you, and although I look pretty good for my age. I would be remiss to not tell you that I owe a lot of it to Rogaine, Just for Men, and Weight Watchers. And now that I find myself at 68 training three times a week, riding my bike and walking daily, my flat feet have finally had enough and have been crying out for something better on them other than Walmart and Target. When my podiatrist told me I needed to get myself quality sneakers if I'm going to train and walk and be active, I headed over to Fleet Feet for my flat feet fleet up on Lawndale. I used to get very anxiety ridden about walking into a store where I am going to be approached and serviced, but as I've gotten older and I'm starting to spend a few dollars to have some nice things, I welcome being approached and feeling I have gotten the proper attention to justify the big ticket item I am about to purchase. Fleet Feet was very easy to find with plenty of parking right up front. I was immediately assigned a salesman who took plenty of time with me and was a real gentleman. After I explained my story, he did some kind of digital imaging of my foot and showed me what he saw. Within moments he accurately diagnosed where my feet are lacking in having an arch and what kind of running shoe would be a good fit for me We tried on several pairs including some attractive sneakers from New Balance and  Hoka, but I kept coming back to an attractive and comfortable pair made by Brooks. It felt very cushioned and firm and had a nice arch in the back to take the pressure off of my heel which has been giving me a hissy fit. I also loved that it had a spot of bright blue on the sneaker and the laces themselves which livened up my normal wardrobe of black and black. I kind of clutched my pearls when he told me the price was $130, but from what I am reading online and hearing from those who refuse to buy footwear at Walmart, this price was quite normal and fair for something of such high quality. Although I normally wear an 11 and a half, these sneakers called for a 12 and a half size, so be aware of that when shopping. I was so in love with these sneakers that I wore them out of the store (after paying of course) and have been enjoying them ever since. I even wore them for my first day of teaching at Elon both for comfort and so the students would think I'm cool LOL On my way home from Fleet Feet, I suddenly remembered that as a young child as poor as we were, my mother always took me to the Florsheim shoe store on Allerton Avenue in the Bronx to get me nice shoes. My clothes might have been from a bargain basement, but my shoes always came from a fine store made of a fine quality. I think I forgot about Mom's wisdom as an adult as I have tried to navigate not spending lots of money on shoes and always going for something that is cheap but looks good. I just finished my morning walk and my Brooks sneakers made it enjoyable and comfortable. Mom always knew what she was talking about! So in closing, be kind to yourself. Accept and celebrate the qualities we have, learn how to be comfortable with them and embrace them and if you are like me, I think you will be very satisfied at Fleet Feet for flat feet! read more

Let me start by saying that I am definitely not your typical female when it comes to having a shoe fetish. I have never been a fan of shoe shopping and typically only buy one or two pair of shoes that I can wear every single day for the next year or two, until of course, my feet start hurting. Only then, will I consider it time to force myself to buy another pair. So, that point in time was about three weeks ago. Both bottoms of my feet started aching and I also realized that the back part of both shoes had developed a huge hole, where there was now a sharp part protruding, poking the back of my heels. After a brief Google search online, I came across a few options. One of which, was a place I had never heard of, called Fleet Feet. Their website stated that they offered 3D fit ID foot scanning technology and a pressure plate reading that would help find options that suited my unique needs. Shoe selection included many popular brands like, New Balance, Brooks, On, HOKA ONE ONE, ASICS, OOFOS, Nike, Altra, Mizuno, Saucony and more. They also have socks, massage guns, foam rollers, sports bras, apparel, insoles, and other items available. Plus, any purchase was even backed by a 60 Day Money Back Guarantee. It seemed like a good first choice, so I scheduled a shoe fitting online, typed the address into my GPS, and off I went. I first visited the Winston-Salem location. There the sales representative scanned my foot and watched me walk across a pressure plate. After this process, they are able to determine your gait, foot arch, how straight you stand, if you turn in or out when you walk, your true foot size, and where you put the most pressure while you walk. The readings concluded for me to be fitted for a size 5 in a neutral shoe. The size was not one typically kept well in stock, so I was limited with options to try on. The New Balance Fresh Foam seemed to be a good fit for me, so I made the purchase. Sadly, after getting them home and walking in my new pair of shoes for a few days, I realized that they were too small and causing pain in my toes. Due to limited stock, we ordered a size 5.5, but in a different shoe. After this new pair was delivered to my house, I discovered that it caused some unusual discomfort by my ankle, on my left foot. So, this time I went to the Greensboro location. I anticipated an issue because this was a different store than the original purchase and it would be my second return. To my surprise, the store happily accepted the shoes back and was actually excited to assist me further. This sales rep, named Joseph, sat down with me, took the time to gather any helpful information (including health issues that may interfere with comfort), re-scanned my feet, and carefully considered the options that were in stock. He selected a pair of Brooks Ghost 13 and New Balance that he thought would be more supportive for me. The Brooks felt the best during the fitting, so that's the pair I was considering for purchase. Before checking out, I put them both on and walked around the store for a few minutes. My feet immediately started feeling fatigue and we luckily realized that I needed a little more support. With this in mind, he then recommended an insole. We put these insoles into the Brooks and they seemed to feel pretty good. Once, again, I happily left the store with my purchase. Well, after getting these home and walking in them for a few days, my feet started hurting because the arch support was way too high. So, with a deep sigh, I returned to the Greensboro store a little frustrated, with yet another return in hand. This time, Tyler was working and actually remembered me from several days ago. Because he had already heard what I had talked to Joseph about previously, he knew exactly where to start. He selected two other insoles with less arch support, one being medium and one being low. I tried both on and felt like the low arch support would be best. He made a quick exchange with the insoles I was returning and I was good to go again. Hopefully, go to go again for the last time. Now, I must admit that I am completely exhausted and sick of looking at shoes. On the positive side, I can FINALLY feel a difference when I am on my feet all day and I don't have anything poking the back of my heels. I can also say that if it wasn't for the Money Back Guarantee, I'd be in real trouble. I would have either ended up dealing with shoes too small and hurting my feet or with a maxed out credit card for purchasing all the shoes and insoles it took to finally find the right combination. And they work as a team, so the best answer is always easy to get, even if one person doesn't know. I buy Hoka's, Altra's, and insoles from them. They stand behind the products and can order directly from the manufacturers if I need a size they don't have. They are great about newsletters and providing running groups and helpful info. Fleet feet is my go to store for ALL my running gear. I came in to look at Rabbit shirts and upon entering the front door a FF worker stopped me and asked if I was with the older lady who came in before me. Pretty weird and awkward question to ask. The older lady and myself both looked at each other wondering why he'd ask me such a question. We both replied no. Then the same FF worker asked what I was there for and not in the friendliest way. I replied to look at shirts. Then he proceeded again to tell me that they are behind on shoe fittings, pretty much ignoring the reason why I was there. Again I said I was there to look at shirts. I didn't ask this dude any questions and the second I walked in he was jumping down my back. I just around and left. Will never be back again and will never spend $$ at this fleet feet. Started running during COVID 19 lockdowns and fell in love with it. I've never considered myself a runner but I decided that to finally meet my goals/objectives I needed to get serious about my training. Love the foot testing software to help get the proper size for your feet. They don't have all brands of athletic shoes so you are limited to those. However they are very good quality shoes. They have athletic wear and some protein and energy snacks. Maybe a great store for runners over other types of athletic needs. read more

This was my first time at the Greensboro location and will be my last. I typically go to Durham and that is where I will continue to do business. First of all so odd the door stays locked?!? Wth??? Second of all we were greeted extremely rude by a old man not welcome it was the wait is 40 minutes folks. So I explained I didn't need to try on I had already tried on at another place but they didn't have the color I needed and he said you will have to wait. So this sweet young lady came over ask me what shoe and what size and brought them to me. So I walked up to the counter and the guy says there are people in front of you and you will have to wait....are you kidding me that you can't check me out I mean it wasn't like a 10 dollar pair of shoes they were 160. So the young lady so kindly checked us out. However that jack*** bast**d was so rude and unprofessional I would never buy even a pair of socks in there. This is the only shoe store I will buy from. I have bought several pairs of Brooks tennis shoes at this location and have been very happy. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I had suffered with plantar fasciitis for many years and the staff fitted me in a good pair of shoes, And my pain is gone! I would rather spend more money at this store than any big chain store in Greensboro or online. They even have a little kids corner for your children to play while you were shopping. i have an issue with my wide forefeet i need shoes with extra width in the toe box. two years ago i had a great experience with a clerk who knew what i needed he suggested two shoes and i chose the new balanace which i was very pleased with. i have bought two pair since and have been satisfired. i recently have had an issue with the new balance and went back to the greensboro store and the clerk that was helping me did not have a clue. she wanted to give me extra wide shoes, she doesn't realize some manufactors make shoes with a wider than normal toe box and could not advise me other than wide shoes. i wish i could find the clerk on my first visit. every clerk since knows very little. read more

This is a great store for everyone from beginner to cult like runners. They can custom fit you for the right shoe according to all your unique physical and stride characteristics in their "Gait-City" lab. The store itself was the start and finish line for the 5K we were in on this occasion, and they really made it special with music, a food truck, raffles, and a water station at the turnaround point. I really love this place, and I wouldn't buy athletic shoes anywhere else, anymore. I used to buy shoes for running at Fleet Feet, starting when I lived in Durham. Now that I've been diagnosed with MS and walk with an orthotic brace on one foot, I buy shoes for their stability, comfort, and compatibility/fit with my brace. The sales associates are incredibly helpful in this regard. They are so knowledgeable about all the shoes they sell, and have helped me choose a shoe that would help with my gait abnormality, and the size to comfortably (but snugly) fit my brace. They are so complete in their evaluation, and accommodating in that they allow you to spend as much time as you need to trying on shoes (or walking around the store in a pair of shoes).
