I went to Fleet Feet because I knew they did personalized fittings and I wanted shoes that would provide the proper fit and support for my feet and gait. I had shopped with Fleet Feet about 10 years ago but they have since upgraded and updated their location and technology. It sounds like it's best to make an appointment, which I did not do, but happily Lucas was available to work with me right away. First we discussed what I was looking for in a shoe and brands/styles that had worked for me in the past. Then I removed my socks and shoes and stood on something resembling a scale but which actually made a 3-D scan of my feet. I then walked across a black mat on the floor several times, which analyzed my gait and whether I had any "hot spots." After these scans Lucas showed me an analysis of the shape of my foot and gait on a tablet. He then used this information and my sock preference (thin, thick or mid) to select try-on socks and a pair of shoes to try on. He used my feedback from the shoes to select other pairs of shoes. He also selected a pair of inserts to address my feet's needs and I tried on the shoes one with the insert and one without, so I could feel the difference. I tried on four pairs of shoes. The first three all felt good but in comparison the last pair just did not feel right and was quickly eliminated. I knew which pair I liked best so I put that on one foot then tried on each of the remaining two to narrow down to my top two, which I decided to purchase. Lucas brought out all colors of both styles so I could select my favorites. We have been coming here as a family for several years now. Since the kids' feet are still changing quickly, I find the foot mapping and precise size determination more than helpful. My husband and I like the variety of brands (I'm partial to the big selection of fun colors also!) and having someone know what kind of shoe is best for foot type and the way you walk or if toes turn in ... their knowledge is essential. They have everything you need for running, walking, racing...great socks, and some athletic wear and I think sport watches and racing snacks. They have always been friendly and more than helpful. First time checking out a fleet feet store, and on the whole I was impressed! The store is clean and we were helped by Mai'a, who was super knowledgeable and friendly as well. I got some supportive inserts for my new shoes based on my weird stride and poor alignment that will hopefully save me some hip, back, and knee pain in the future since I'm on my feet all day typically. They were very polite and waited on me as soon as I walked in the store I knew what I wanted because I checked the website, but they did not have one pair of shoes I was looking for. I took my elderly Dad there to exchange some shoes that ended up being too tight for him. They took such a long time with him, making sure he had the proper fit, was comfortable, etc and even laced in some bungee laces so he wouldn't have to tie his shoes. They weren't making a new sale and they didn't care! They truly cared that he was comfortable. When it came time to leave, we hugged our sales clerk (Carol Ann) as if we were saying bye to an old family friend. I will come back and have told all of my WS family that this is the place to go. I decided to give them another go and I'm glad I did. Andrea fitted me for insoles and was very knowledgeable and explained everything very well. It's interesting to read the negative reviews because I have never gotten anything but appropriately attentive service whether I was there to buy or there to look. I recently was looking to try a different style of shoe. I tried on at least 5 pairs before I settled and then saw another customer trying on Mizuno's and got her feedback on them. Newly diagnosed and suffering with plantar fasciitis of both feet. Was referred here by orthotics manufacturer and these guys take choosing footwear to the ultimate level. Who ever heard of an actual analysis of each individual foot??!! I had no idea of what to expect and I was truly blown away by the professional approach!! Travis was great; this guy actually massaged my calfs!!!! He was patient, energetic, resourceful, knowledgeable and welcoming. When I got back to my car, I was like "wow". Only wish they served all types of footwear as opposed to mainly athletic. I will never buy shoes at discount stores, or online again. Yes, u pay more here, but you're getting a custom shoe for YOUR foot . Highly recommended; make an appointment and take your time.
