This is a great store and friendly customer service! However as many have warned don't "stop by" unless you are patient as they do their best to get every customer their best fit. I have been twice in the last month to get my gait analyzed and find new shoes for running. They ask what kinds of shoes you've used prior, what terrain you might run, and any brands or price points you're looking for and then bring you several options. That's something I loved, it was so personalized ; they were so patient! They also help you try on all the shoes and I recommend going to run outside the store with them on. They offer a wonderful exchange or refund within 60 days policy as well as other colors and styles you can order to their store if they don't have what you want. My wife had the absolute best experience today at Fleet Feet. Having had bunion surgery four weeks ago, her doctor now recommended that she go to Fleet Feet in Menlo Park to get a certain type of shoe. We asked the doctor WHY specifically Fleet Feet? Their answer was because this store will take care of you and not just sell you a pair of shoes. I live in Foster City so this was at least a 15 mile drive. As soon as we walked into the store, we asked to be fitted by their most KNOWLEDGEABLE sales individual, which was someone named Jim. We later found out that Jim was the owner of Fleet Feet. He was super, explaining in detail which shoes would be best suited for someone who just had bunion surgery. She tried on four pairs of shoes, with Jim patiently working closely with her, explaining the pros and cons of each pair. Throughout the entire experience, she never felt rushed. When she finalized her selection, she felt very CONFIDENT with her decision. I would highly recommend Jim and Fleet Feet to anyone wanting to be PROFESSIONALLy fit for a pair of athletic shoes. I've been to fleet feet several times and each time has been a poor experience. Yesterday I waited a bit for help, it was a busy Sunday granted but there were several very young girls who were chatting it up (who I later found out worked there). Eventually after being bypassed by several customers who arrived after me, I decided to go up to the register to ask for help. Granted it is my poor luck for not looking like I would spend money (Im not a white person). I asked for a different size for an insole from the child cashier, who looked disgusted I would interrupt her conversation and ask for help. Eventually I was helped by another 2 boys (the adult in the store did not want to help me). They were friendly but not knowledgeable as they were about 12, I don't blame them. Not going to accuse the workers of racism, but this is the third time going to this store being ignored and bypassed for the fairer skinned customers. I later learned there was a clipboard, although none of the customers who arrived after me signed it. The insoles so far are a piece of shit and for $60 overpriced. At no point did I feel rushed or felt like he was pushing certain items on me. Nice store - they don't have all the sizes of most models I wanted, but the service was great.

I needed new insoles that weren't going to cost me an arm and a leg to get for several pairs of shoes I would love to wear. I have a large number of feet issues and trying to find good insoles is hard. Someone recommended Fleet Feet for insoles so I decided to travel all the way to this location (the one in Campbell closed). When I got there, someone did greet me right away and listened, or partially listened, to what I needed. He suggested a few different insoles and then looked at my feet and told me I need to do exercises. Awesome, just what I needed. A know-it-all who really doesn't understand my condition. Then proceeded to tell me what kinda of shoes to wear and decided to show me a bunch of running shoes. I just wanted insoles and I didn't want more shoes. The pair of shoes I was wearing was going to get thrown away but it was the only pair I can wear comfortably without it causing me more pain. It went downhill pretty quickly with him thinking he knows everything and was throwing rapid responses to everything I was saying. In the end, I wasted my time and didn't get a chance to try other insoles let alone buy any. I'll continue to search for other places where I can get the help I need. read more

Customer service is great, the store is clearly for runners, managed by runners. In comparison to Road Runners: -Foot analysis is not as thorough as Road Runners. Road runners offers a foot scan AND gait analysis, whereas Fleet Feet only offers a foot scan. Everything else Fleet Feet takes the cake though. -Fleet Feet has a better return policy. Shoes that are worn can be returned for full refund if done before 60 days. Road Runners requires you to be a member, and worn shoes can only be exchanged. - Fleet feet has more sizing options. The Road Runners store told me they do not offer Mens shoe sizes smaller than size 8, whereas I was fitted with a 7.5 for one of the shoes I wanted to try at Fleet Feet -Fleet Feet seems to have more knowledgeable employees who personally walk you through each and every shoe you try on and providing their personal experience with certain shoes and thinking outside the box. Most Road Runners employees tend to stick by the book based on what your analysis shows. Finally, Fleet Feet seems less likely to push their custom insoles on you whereas Road Runners tends to promote theirs more. Overall I'd buy from this Fleet Feet again. read more

Probably one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. On Sunday, June 9th, my fiancé and I walk in to see if we can get fitted. We were really excited to check out this place because we heard the measurement device offers customized recommendations based on your foot structure. No one greeted us as we walked in, although to be fair it looked a bit busy. We put our names down on the sign-in sheet and waited about 10 minutes for us to get fitted. This kid, who looks like he's 14, doesn't introduce himself, takes both of us and walks us over to the measurement machine. Then proceeds to say "okay, I guess just step on the platform"..I guess? Kinda seemed like we were wasting his time to begin with. Then says to my fiance "can you confirm your foot size?..this device can be inaccurate" and we're thinking to ourselves "what?, inaccurate?". We ask about the device and he's says "yeah this thing is really bad and doesn't work very well. It's really inaccurate..". He didn't even explain how the machine works, what gets measured, etc - things we were really curious about. So far, pretty cruddy experience, right? It gets better... He walks us over, asks us what type of activities we usually do (running, walking, CrossFit, etc) brings us some shoes and we ask "are these shoes based on our feet scans?" and he goes "nah, that thing is terrible, so I just brought you some shoes I think you'd like based on some of the activities you do"..wait..so I could have just gone to any other shoe store? This whole time we're trying on shoes, he doesn't ask us how they feel or follow-up with anything. So, we sit there silently and over a period of time he brings us a few other sizes and colors we ask about. Then he asks "so, are you ready to check out?" We were a bit shocked. I suppose it's an "ask-for-the-sale" type of scenario, but the way he said it was, again, really off-putting and a bit lazy. Overall, his demeanor was really poor and there was almost zero customer service skills involved with the interaction. Listen, I get these are kids, but cmon. I needed an inner sole for my Hoka Arahi's to accommodate my flat feet. My limp arches generally spill over the mid-sole in the arch area; you over-pronators know what I'm talking about! (Arahi's have become narrower at the mid-foot from their original straight last design; i can't get a straight answer from them on why!) So Alex to the rescue; he immediately put me in a pair of Currex Runpro MED-profile inserts. (Cue-in angels singing): No more weak arch-spillage! He proceeded to trim the insert to fit my size and I was ready for a 12k on Saturday (which went shockingly well). And just for giggles, the price (I checked for the purpose of writing this review AFTER I bought the inserts) was IDENTICAL to the price you'd pay on THAT internet store-front. Folks, please patronize your local stores! Even if you pay a few dollars more (which I did not in this case), the service you get locally is invaluable! read more

They have a great 60 day return guarantee but I had gone out of town for about a month due to an emergency.
