Love this place. They have Stuckeys Candy here now - 3 different kinds $3.49 each. Love the candy area - love the kitchen stuff - camping gear downstairs. This place is huge, stuff you don't find elsewhere and a great staff all throughout the store. Cast Iron, Winston-Salem stuff, souvenir T-shirts. Check it out!

We stopped here while exploring a few places downtown and were really impressed! We didn't realize that Mast was a small regional chain of stores throughout North and South Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. In total there are 10 locations. The first one began in Valle Crucis, North Carolina. This is a great place to bring out of town guests who may be looking for a piece of Winston-Salem merchandise to take home but Mast offers much, much more! As you make your way through the store there are both women's and men's clothing and accessories with well known labels such as Dkota, Life is Good, Lazy One, Columbia, Carhartt, North River, Lulu-B and Pendleton. We happened to be in when the fall/winter items were being heavily discounted and picked up several items at fifty percent off the sale price. We also noted they stock a wide range of sizes in both men's and women's from small to plus sizes which we appreciate. Next you come across the home goods area including items for your home and garden such as cookbooks, wind chimes, cutting boards, and more. The first floor is complete with old fashioned candy barrels and items for infants to school age children ranging from toys, books, games, puzzles, stuffed animals, etc. We then learned they have a basement as well which is accessible via either a large staircase or elevator. Downstairs you will find a wide selection of men's and women's shoes with brand names such as Dansko, Keen, Merrill, Acorn, Hey Dude, Reef, Acorn and Birkenstock. The basement also has an area with cases full of knives and other outdoor items such as hammocks, walking sticks, and just about anything you could want. Overall, this was a fun place to explore and we found several great deals as well. We learned they also do a spring/summer sale as well which we will need to keep in mind. Highly recommend for all!

I enjoy visiting Mast General Stores so knew I had to check out this one in Winston-Salem. The staff was very friendly from the moment I walked in. I like the high quality products here and was excited to see that they now carry LLBean products. You will find whatever you might need here from clothing to home good to candy to toys. There was a parking garage next door to the store.

It's a fun find. You get to see a lot of the candy you grew up with and some candy available in other states. The store sells other knickknacks and clothing items as well. I wish it was better ventilated because they're is an old style woody smell to the store but I think it's part of the feel. They have lots of candy in barrels like warheads and those strawberry wrapped candies with the filling. They also sell cream savers, oh remember those? Mera's Tip: relive your childhood

Great selection of gifts, clothing, shoes, candy, nostalgia of all kinds, books, this place has everything!! Sometimes I enjoy coming here just to browse because it's such a neat store. When I was looking for a "welcome to NC" gift for a family member who just moved here, this was the perfect place to purchase items local to the area. When I'm in need of outdoor gear or attire I know Mast will have a wide selection to choose from. Depending on the time of year you may catch a good sale too since they often have a clearance rack towards the end of season. Several name brand shoes geared towards hiking, comfort, boating, work or just simply for style. Great place if you are a wool sock fan like me! And so many adorable baby and children's items!! I could go on and on. Stop by and see for yourself!! I could spend hours here.

Came for the old fashioned candy and left with a candle and greeting cards instead. The only reason I would not rate this place 5 stars is because it is a little pricey, however, there are a ton of sales that let you take 25-50% off select items. This store has clothing, candy, outdoor gear, and kitchen accessories (like cast iron skillets and wine glasses). I scored a locally made candle, on sale, for less than $10! My husband and I perused the candy, but ultimately decided it would be cheaper to grab similar candy at grocery store. We saw a lot of sour gummies, chocolate covered pretzels, and even some pez! The candy here is $10/lb. This store is massive and 2 levels. It never felt crowded. A nice little stop while in Winston-Salem.

Always a fun selection of puzzles and toys

Bottom Line: A large general store with an emphasis on casual outdoorsy clothing for men and women. I love Mast General Stores so while in Charlotte I managed to plot a detour to this store via Spencer for the NC Transportation Museum and Lexington for BBQ.  Mast General Store is reliable for friendly staff, quality men's and women's clothing, lovely displays and their candy barrel. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring both floors of this location. I would estimate that nearly 50% of the store is men's and women's clothing geared towards an active and outdoor lifestyle.  They sell brands like North Face, Toad&Co, Patagonia and Columbia.  They also have quality footwear from brands like Keen and Brooks. True to the roots of a general store, Mast General Store sells a little bit of everything.  Here are some of the things I enjoyed checking out at the Mast General Store in Winston-Salem: - Women's cute Joules rain boots - Farm-to-Feet, Darn Tough and Smartwool socks - Lodge cast iron pans - Patagonia fleece jackets for women - Columbia wind breakers for men - Moon Pies and cold bottles of Cheerwine - The candy barrel and especially the Tootsie fruit chews - Scented bars of soap - Fun toys and puzzles Mast also has plenty of stuff for outdoors fun like coolers, knives and such but I didn't explore that section downstairs too much. My husband and I bought a bunch of stuff and left very happy. For parking, we were able to get a spot on the street out front but there is also a garage next door with a breezeway to the rear entrance of the store. Overall a great experience and totally worth the roundtrip drive from Charlotte.

I absolutely love this store. The staff are all very helpful. This particular visit I was looking for a new pair of hiking boots. The salesman was very knowledgeable and suggested I try a different brand that I traditionally bought. As a hiker, this always makes me nervous because getting blisters or improper fit of a boot while hiking for a fees days is not fun. They did not have my size in either boot and he took the time to call about 8 stores to see if they had them. On the last call he struck gold. They arranged shipment of the boots to the store at no added cost and allowed me to try them on before placing any money on the purchase. About 5 days later they arrived, fit like a glove as he stated they would and highlighted a few differences that I immediately picked up on regarding comfort around the ankle.

We saw this place on a YouTube travel video of Winston-Salem and it was a really cool place to go to. We found a number of items to buy unfortunately we couldn't get as much as we wanted because we only brought carry-on bags on our trip here. We felt the items we got we wouldn't find elsewhere at the price we got. This is a great place to visit and buy local items.

This store is awesome! I love the outdoor gear combined with local goods. It definitely reminds me of a general store with various candy, foods, and general personal items. I love the bath goods, too! There is a great selection of Burt's Bee and Savannah Bee products, some items I've never seen before. The clothing selection includes men, women, and children hear. There's even dog gear! There are local goods, including Dewey's cookies and Foothills coffee. It was a very whimsical spot and a blend of Western meets New England prep. I'll definitely be back!

It's 1903 and you need provisions - where else can you get sarsaparilla candies for the young whippersnappers and warm socks for grandma?

I originally planned to stop back by the Greensboro location, but I wanted to stop by here again. I had came by here before when I first heard of Hamricks from my cousin. to me, it reminds me of a discount store like Burlington or TJ Maxx, or Big Lots. Most of the items are decently priced. I know that I got some shoes that were similar to Sperrys from here turn my first visit about 2 months ago. They have prescriptions to write the store. I noticed that many of the items does not have a price listed. The store is divided into different departments or areas. There is a sign above hanging from the ceiling to help guide you in case you want to go to a specific area. I browsed for a little bit just to see what they had. I had had no intentions on really buying anything, but you never really know. Check out can be a little difficult. The line starts in one of the aisles and supposed to go down it and around the right so that it loops around. I feel like they need to have an arrow pointing to the direction of the line because the sign is hanging from the ceiling doesn't make it very clear. I was standing thinking I was next in line, but really, I was not at all. Vanessa was the cashier who processes my return. It was a quick and easy process, and she was very friendly and polite. She stated everything that she was doing and how the refund would be processed. I use my credit card to make the purchase and I had needed it to get the refund. I grabbed the wrong credit card , so the right one was in my car. Nonetheless, I went to grab it from my car and she was patient until I returned. Many options here and I plan to return.

This store has been around forever and I hate that it took me so many years to make it back. I…read morelove everything about it. Some great deals and always friendly staff.

I always come here for their variety of skin care, especially their Korean face masks. They carry great brands such as COSRX and Esfolio as seen here in my pictures. I've also gotten brands such as Laneige and The Creme Shop. Their haircare and body selection is also very extensive! Of course their product availability varies but I always find something I like. Similar to other TJ Maxxs, they also have jewelry, handbags, perfume, clothing and shoes, home decor, kitchenware, office ware, snacks, pet items, and more. I don't really buy much of their products outside of skincare/body care but I did buy a lot of kitchenware here last year that I still use to this day. Great quality for the price.

My husband, baby, and I were looking for some shoes and a dress for me to wear to an up coming wedding we are attending this month. I unfortunately have severe anemia and a fainting issue. I'm freezing and light headed super frequently, and I brought a coffee with me (was in the strollers cup holder) to help keep my blood pressure up because it does get super low. I was already having issues once we arrived to the store because my fingers were turning white and my head felt a little dizzy. We found a really cute dress, and in the area of the dresses it's super narrow. My husband is pushing our baby with the coffee in the cup holder. Accidentally it got caught on one of the racks. Immediately I start feeling embarrassed myself because I hate to inconvenience anyone, or be that person that makes someone's job harder. I stand at the end of the isle with my baby while he runs to go find and alert someone that we accidentally spilt coffee. Not even 45 seconds later as I turn to look at my baby, I hear two women talking. They proceed to complain loudly about how "shitty" and "disgusting" people are to just leave coffee in the floor. I try to make eyes with my husband from across the store in a panic that these women assumed we had just left it there. He walks back at almost the same time, and says he couldn't find anyone. I said well we need to figure out something because there's two women that walked up right after you left to go find help and to notify someone and they sound really mad and angry-so obviously I wasn't going to go up and confront them. Seconds later one of the women lock eyes with me, and I realize she's an EMPLOYEE. I said tell her you did go and look to someone, and as I say that she brings out her long white rack of clothing and before he can tell this lady that we were the ones who spilled the coffee and we didn't just leave it there. She comes up to me walking her rack and loudly says "excuse me" and I try to push my babies stroller forward and am trying to carry the shoes, and dress we found in my arms. So I'm already shaking because I can feel my blood pressure dropping, and I accidentally dropped the dress and shoes as I go move out of her way. I quietly go to ask my husband "can you please... (I was going to ask if he could pick them up) and she snatches the dress from off the floor and the shoes and throws them on the rack and loudly says "I ASSUME YOU DONT WANT THESE ANYMORE SINCE YOU THREW THEM ON THE FLOOR" and before I could even speak or husband could speak and say I didn't mean to drop them, my hands were full and I was trying to push the stroller. My husband is caught off guard and says "maam what is your problem"? And then tells her she's being extremely rude. Which again she was but I didn't even want him to say anything about her behavior just that it wasn't intentional and that he DID get someone for the spill and that she shouldn't assume that someone did just leave it. She proceeds to say after he called her rude, "oh that's not the worst I've been called before" and walks off. I still wanted to apologize and explain to this woman that she misunderstood the situation entirely and her behavior towards us was completely unwarranted. We go up to a manager and explain the situation, and I told her I did still want to purchase the dress and shoes, and that I was so sorry for the misunderstanding, and that I would never just leave coffee in the floor. That the lady was rude, but I just really wanted the dress and shoes (which I know allot of people wouldn't give a place their money after being treated so poorly) but I again apologized to the manager who which did find the dress and shoes back. As I'm sitting on the bench the same lady just stares at me from across the store giving me a "go to hell look" even AFTER the manager explained the misunderstanding.
