I'm confused as hell. All of the reviews are about boots. The website listed sure enough takes you to a site where you can purchase boots. The physical location however, which I have been to, is a gas station and convenient store. I don't recall seeing any western wear on display. Perhaps I missed it? I can only review the physical locations as a gas station and convenient store. The gas, in the past, was not competitive at all. That has changed and the gas is now much more in line with other locations. Still not Murphy Oil or Costco cheap but respectable for a rural gas station. Inside they have a lot of food and drink items. Fountain drinks, slushy machines, bottles and cans. They also have a decent beer selection. Place is clean and the service is good. I would recommend if you are traveling down 64 or 801 in Davie County. read more

Horrible company to deal with. The pair of boots I tried to order which was an Old Gringo Double D was previously warn and had damage to the boot. They shipped a worn pair of boots to me that I had to return and then the company gave me a hard time when I tried to return the boots. I would never buy from this company again and would not recommend them as an online retailer. Go look at all of the disclaimer and return information. I ordered $300 boots in a different color than a pair I already own. They arrived obviously worn and scuffed on the bottom. I could tell they had been walked on rocks or gravel as there are rock indents on the bottom. I sent an email and they told me they are "distressed" boots and they are supposed to look worn. They said that they could send me pictures of their other boots in stock so I could see the bottom of the soles and that they're all apparently "distressed" on the bottom.....I own another pair of these boots and they came with brand new soles. I do want to keep them as they are a Christmas gift and I don't want to risk not getting another pair in time but they would not offer me a partial refund and proceeded to lie about the fact that all of these boots come "distressed" on the bottom when I literally own another pair of them and know that they in fact do not, and can find pictures on the Internet of this exact boot with brand new soles. read more

This review is for my online experience with River Trail - I live in Los Angeles and had scoured the internet high and low for a specific pair of boots. I found them multiple places but River Trail by far had the lowest prices. I ordered them and that same night I received an email saying that my boots were on their way! I got them in LA 2 days later, free shipping - such an awesome experience. Boots were recieved and looked nothing like the color on their website...no biggie right? Just return them, right? River Trails Mercantile is in the middle of nowhere, but well worth the trip. The newly constructed building is tastefully rustic. River Trails carries humorous "hillbilly" themed food and gift items, a nice selection of unusual children's toys, seasonal decorative items, quality local art and pottery. The wooden floors and fixtures are as attractive as Bob Timberlake Galleries. The cafe is clean and comfortable and features freshly made sandwiches, desserts, and dipped ice cream. The upstairs (there is an elevator) overlooks the main floor and contains very nice, pricey women's and men's casual clothing and home goods. Oh, and there are also gas pumps and a convenience store. Purchased two pair of boots, not realizing that they charged a restocking fee of 10% ... YES 10 % !!!!! ... I purchased items assuming it was in good faith from reliable retailer, I could not have been more wrong. A restocking fee such as this SCREAMS that the retailer can not be trusted nor do they stand by their products. I called to inquire about the fee, and the fact that the boots where purchased as a gift explaining that the 14 day return deadline did not even give ample time to present the boots as a gift and still have amble time to return them should they not be suitable....... The Owner Lauren, could have cared less, stating that we were "stupid consumers", apparently she is correct, When one shops assuming they are dealing with a reputable merchant, one does not expect underhanded thievery on the back end of a purchase. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM, should you find an item on their web page you like, google and find it selling someplace else. Spend your hard earned money at a retailer that stand by both their products, one that has integrity and recognizes the privilege of consumer support for small businesses in the U.S.A. My husband Order a pair of $750 Old Gringo Wyoming boots for my birthday paid $60 for expedited shipping (which was also a nightmare). He ordered a size 8 which I always wear an old gringo I have several pair. When these arrived they were at least a half a size too big, very unusual for the same brand, same size I normally wear! almost didn't seem brand new or stretched. We left two days after my boots came for vacation,summer was just starting. when I got back I packaged up my boots and sent them (you have to pay for your shipping to return) and then wait for their approval when excepting the return. This also takes time. Their return policy is also only 14 days....they are in North Carolina and I'm in California. I called them to tell them I was concerned I wouldn't make it within the 14 days and they said oh it's OK go ahead and send them which I had already done. About a week later I got an email saying my return request was denied , boots are back in the mail coming back to me. Also, I might add I wasn't asking for my money back, I was looking for store credit or boots that fit!! My boots were UNWORN & in the exact same condition I got them in. A very cheap price for the boots with Free shipping, and a quick delivery. However, the problem I have is that I ordered 10ee boots, but what was sent was 10e. I could not even get the boot unto my left foot. When I call about the discrepancy, I was told that the 10e & 10ee were the same size. Liar, Liar, Liar. Horrible experience with a self-serving company. NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY. I purchased a pair of Old Gringos on sale, but the zippers were defective, and they had to be returned. I ordered a second pair of another design, but they didn't fit. I asked for a refund, but the Company informed me that an outlandish restocking fee would be taken from my refund unless I opted for exchange or credit. I asked if I could just exchange for another pair like the originals and call it even. They said "no" because their staff could not keep it straight. Why? Are the staff members handicapped to the degree of being disabled? How do all the other companies "keep it straight" with exchanges? To make a long story short, I re-ordered the original boots and paid an extra $100. I paid the extra and closed my account. They never responded to my complaints. They have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE. I do not expect this company to stay in business. I have never in my life encountered such self-serving policies that amount to nothing less than extortion. I WOULD NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS AGAIN. All sorts of decent companies carry the same merchandise. Don't be tricked by an advertised bargain. I should have read the reviews before I ordered from this company. I ordered a pair of boots for my wedding, but when they arrived they were too small. I emailed and asked about the return policy, but no one bothered to respond to my inquiry. Eventually, I called and asked about the return policy, and the customer service rep told me to simply ship the boots back (at my expense, of course), and they would refund the purchase. Well, after the boots arrived at the company, I received a voicemail that they only accept returns for 14 days after the item is delivered. Needless to say, I'm not happy that I spent money to ship the boots back, and that they will not refund my money. If they'd told me that they wouldn't accept refunds after 14 days, I could have tried to sell them on Amazon, which is where I found the exact same boots for a much cheaper price, and they are a perfect fit. Don't shop here. There are better, more customer friendly options out there. read more
