I bought two dogs from him in 2012, both of whom were advertised to be "trained" dogs. They were shipped to me and were absolutely filthy when I picked them up at the airport. Both wreaked of urine and were dirty from ears to tail. When the airline let them out of the crate for me to put a leash on them, they both bolted out into the parking lot. This was after dark at the Atlanta airport, so it was very scary chasing two dogs that didn't know me through a parking lot trying to get collars and leashes on them. When we arrived home, it was evident the dogs had CLEARLY never been inside a house. They were not even remotely house broken, let alone obedience trained. The first thing the male did was walk into my den and lift his leg on my sofa. It took weeks to house train them, something I thought I had paid good money to avoid having to do. Of course he has a no return policy which should have been my first red flag. I thought very seriously about getting an attorney, but I didn't because I thought it would end in me having to return these poor souls to this incompetent sales person. They were both sweet dogs and didn't deserve the life they had obviously had before we got them. One slept for months curled up like a fox in a den with his big fluffy tail completely covering his face. He was terrified of men and crouched down when anyone came towards him with his food. Seemed like he had possibly been yelled at a lot by a male at some point. Both had SEVERE separation anxiety. One would literally pace in circles for HOURS if it heard a clap of thunder. We eventually tried medicating her and even a thunder shirt, but nothing ever helped. The reason I am just now writing is because one has now passed away and the other one is a senior. I am thinking about getting another one and was reminded of how differently I would go about the selection this time. Shipping animals is not ideal and probably very traumatizing at the least. So, I definitely would suggest buying in driving distance of where you live. Never buy an animal with a strict no return policy in the contract. And lastly, don't be afraid to speak out against situations like this. Animals can't do it for themselves. read more

Easy to deal with. Will ship dogs if needed. Hips and elbows guaranteed. Cons: can be a bit pricey but you are getting higher quality dogs from German stock, not the inbred American stock. Notes: Over the last 11 years we have purchased 4 GSD from Fleischerheim. They have ranged from the 2nd tier to the highest tier. We have loved each and every one. They have had distinct personalities and were beautiful. Every one was fantastic with the family. I am on my second GSD that I purchased from Fleischerheim. Both are/were adult females that were retired or current breeding dogs. The first, Dollina, was very reasonably priced and was the best dog that I have ever owned. Perfect behavior on and off leash, well socialized but non-reactive to other dogs, a wonderful companion that was affectionate but not overly so. She had special status at certain restaurants because of her behavior and presence. We acquired her at age 6 and enjoyed her thoroughly until she succumbed to cancer at age 12. Her passing was a huge loss. After 6 months, we decided to look nation-wide for another GSD. We decided on Abby, a 3 year old Fleischerheim dog that had recently given birth to some gorgeous puppies. Abby has supermodel good looks and show dog manners on leash. She prances and struts with her head held high in an aristocratic sort of way. As a younger dog, she requires quite a bit more attention and activity than Dollina, but that is to be expected. I enjoy working with the dog and she impresses my friends with the basic sit/stay/down commands by voice or hand, walking at heel and responding to changes in pace and stopping immediately when I do. Generally, it is possible to get a more highly trained dog elsewhere, but that would be a lot more expensive. I don't think it's possible to get a better looking GSD elsewhere though. read more

I purchased a puppy in 2009 for $2,500 dollars from Bill the owner. The German Shepherd puppy was given to me at when she was 4 months old. Her parents were Vico and Wyhoa two champion type parents. Within 2 months I noticied my puppy limping and found out she had bad elbows and a bad hip. After paying $5,000 to get the puppies elbows reparied, Bill the breeder said to send him a copy of the X rays. I sent him all the information and he never offered me any money or seemed that concerned. I even sent him a follow up email and never heard back from him. I recommend before buying any dogs from Fleishcherheim you get a written guarantee that if his dogs have problems with the hips or elbows Fleishcherheim will will pay for the cost or give you another dog. read more

I also had a very negative experience with Bill Fliescher and Fleisherheim kennels. In 2008 I purchased a 6 month "Ultimate Supreme" male puppy from him. If you go to his site you can get an idea what I paid. The dog arrived here and I had it checked out with the vet who x-rayed the hips which were fine. This vet said his feet looked a little funny but I told her not to worry as Bill told me that he would look a little funny walking but that this was perfectly normal and that he would grow out of it. HA HA HA! What a sucker I was! The next few weeks several experienced GSD owners and one well known German dog trainer told me that his elbows looked very bad and abnormal. It was very apparent when the dog ran as he did so in the "bunny hop" style which is an indicator of serious joint problems. I told people what Bill had said about him growing out of it but they informed me that is incorrect and I was probably misled. Well to sum up this whole thing I ended up taking the dog to 2 vets and a veterinary surgeon in South Florida. His x-rays were also reviewed by 3 different veterinary radiologists. They all confirmed his elbow deformities and let me know that he probably would have a very painful future and would need costly, risky surgery to lead any kind of normal life. In the best case he would probably only live a few years before most likely needing to be put to sleep. Now anyone can understand that when you breed hundreds of dogs each year even at the highest quality level you would expect a few puppies to come out with some problems. I expected Bill to be reasonable and resolve the problem. So after about 2 months with this puppy and having spending heavily in vet exams and x-rays, I contacted Bill about the problem. I sent him all the reports and dozens of x-rays. Days, then weeks went by. No answer. I called again and was given one excuse. Then another. After just hitting a brick wall of excuses I hired a lawyer. The lawyer ended up getting him to agree to make a swap. No reimbursement of any vet fees. The lawyer honestly explained my options which were of course ridiculously expensive. If I sued the case would of course be heard out of state and cost thousands just to get it going. The guarantee Fleischerheim gives is only for "crippling" hip dysplasia within one year of purchase which is incredibly tricky as you may not see signs of dysplasia till the dog is an adult. Even then by the time its actually "crippling" your contract will have long since expired. After 40 years of breeding dogs he definitely has it all figured out. He can almost get away with anything and I suspect has many times. The dog I swapped for is healthy though definitely not a world class shepherd behavior wise. Not very confident and showing signs of fear-aggression. No chance of succeeding in Schitzhund or being much of a protection dog. He is pretty though. My advise to anyone looking for a GSD is this. One, don't even think about dealing with Fleisherheim unless you absolutely must. If you do then get your own contract with him which covers ALL major health problems for the first three years of the dog's life and don't buy any of his cow hock crap. Two, you must must must pick the dog out yourself personally. You can learn how to do this by reading up about it beforehand. The main thing to look for is confidence and ZERO signs of fear from the puppy. All these ratings of Supreme, Ultimate, etc are complete BS marketing garbage. You can tell very little about a puppy that is only a few weeks old. Character only becomes more apparent as the dog gets older (3 months +). Any purebred GSD can end up a great dog as long as its healthy and confident. Another thing to know which I don't think many Americans know but in Germany there are two classes of GSD. One class is the show dogs which are bred for beauty (think Fleischerheim) and the other class is for the "real" working dogs (think protection dogs). So you should really decide ahead of time what it is you are looking for. If you want a show dog then look for lineage and prettiness. If you want a GSD that will give its life for you and your family then you'll need to look harder at the puppies and learn how to differentiate between a fearless confident dog and one which is skiddish or lazy. Best wait till they are at least 3 months old or more. If your going to spend serious money on your GSD then it would also be wise to bring along an experienced third party for their opinion also. Unfortunately for me I had to learn all this the hard way but next time I buy a GSD it won't be from Fleischer and I'll know what I'm doing. read more

I have had two just wonderful, healthy, happy, well socialized dogs from Bill. I have been living with German Shepherds from Bill for over 20 years. Not only are they just beautiful dogs (maybe our current dog is the best looking GSD I have ever seen), they are extremely well tempered, good with children, and good as guard dogs. I have had my current dog stop a 6'4" man who was advancing on us as we backed up, I had the dog on a lead of 10 feet and was pulling him closer to me, when the guy got within 4' still yelling, the dog launched himself in the air, rotated 45 degrees and hit the guy in the chest with all four paws, knocking him back and ending that. He loves kids and is a legend in our neighborhood. I trained him to scent track, he is legendary for not only finding lost pets but also for his hide-and-go seek, I think he is about 25-0. To track a kid who has run down the block and found the best possible hiding place, he doesn't even put his nose to the ground, he just runs down the street with me on his tracking lead and we always find the hider. One thing when you read some of these bad reviews, which I find hard to believe, remember the adage, the temper of the dog comes down the lead from the owner. If you want to get one of the best GSDs in the world, give Bill a call. I bought a male puppy in October of 2020, and had him delivered to me in Atlanta. I'll have to say he is a gorgeous dog and sweet...But, I've had some unfortunate accidents with him pulling me down on the leash. He's gone after atleast 8 dogs in my neighborhoo, where he's gotten loose...I gave him up, and then felt guilty and missed him and he came back to me. A friend of Bill's, who lives here was going to take him and trade him for another. I couldn't do this. Ive got bites that caused bleeding in addition to broken blood vessels near the site. These are on my hands, arms and legs. I'm wondering if something is not right with this dog..Today he was an angel, then took him for a walk, he freaked out at other dogs and a jogger. I purchased a GSD from Bill and Evy in 2008. Dog was offspring of two German Schutzhund Level 3 parents. Two Complaints: 1) At one year she was diagnosed with Severe HD. Vet is surprised she is even walking. I always knew something was off and as Tim (11/18/2008) said bill's response was less then admirable and unacceptable. After some time and considerable energy he offered me another UNTITLED dog from his 'personal' litter. While I was appreciative of the gesture it indicates he cares more about the money than the dogs. I paid for a much more quality GSD example than that. When we lost our 9 year old beautiful male German Shepherd, we were absolutely devastated. He was the love of our life and it broke our hearts. We also have a 9 year old female, and she was extremely upset as well, so we decided to immediately get a new male German Shepherd puppy. I had asked Bill if there was anything wrong with this dog before I bought him...he said "No!". On day one we noticed that he had a break at the end of his tail. Over the years this dog has cost me a fortune in vet bills. He's got every genetic problem imaginable. Allegies, nurological spine degeneration issues, joint issues, DM, dental problems, enlarged esophigus, bloat...I could go on and on. Schatzi our German Shepherd has been an extremely smart, protective yet a gentle loving family member. She has never had any health problems or issues. Recently back in July of 2019 we again purchased yet another German Shepherd pup from Bill Fleischer and luckily she was related both on the father and mothers side as our 9 year old. I think she works out to be a great, great niece of our older German Shepherd, the same blood lines. Both of them have amazing grandparent history of VA1, world champions on both sides. I bought Bill Fleischer's puppy through Nobleheim German Shepherd. She has an underbite, hip dysplasia and a skin condition that causes bald patches. Her legs are not developing well either. They should stand straight. However, her legs are bent at an angle. She's extremely hyperactive and anxious around new people and other dogs. Before that, I went to Haus Merkel whose puppies also have the same bloodline as Nobleheim's. The owner at Haus Merkel weaned a litter of puppies at 4 weeks so that she could send the mother for schutzhund training and certification. Puppies should only be weaned at 5 weeks. Further, there was an overwhelming stench in the nursery and indoor kennel. Hardly a healthy place to breed puppies. I did not know Fleischerheim, Nobleheim and Haus Merkel were related and was unfortunate to have bought a puppy from them. read more

The only reason I'm rating this Fleischerheim 1 star is because we love our 14 month old male GSD! BUT and that is a HUGE BUT.....our Ace has had numerous health issues! From the get go....he had reoccurring giardia, bad over bite, has a major heart condition that requires life long meds and ongoing cardiologist checkups ($$) and we became very concerned at about 6-8 months that he had bad hips. Needless to say after X-rays and a visit to an orthopedic specialist he has hip dysplasia in both hips and arthritis already.....and they're concerned now that he may have elbow dysplasia! ($$$$). Yes, I did receive a check for $675 to cover Ace's first echocardiogram, but he has received another one and will more than likely have another every year if we want him to continue to have a fulfilled life. The response I've received from Bill is baffling! I could have returned Ace after completely falling in love with him......ummmm, not! My three children equally love him! All I asked of this "legit breeder" was to return our money! $2,000, minus the $675! His attitude sucks and from what I understand is he isn't even a "breeder".....he's a broker of these amazing GSD! Don't purchase from Fleischerheim! Do your research! All we wanted was a healthy GSD that would be part of our family! This is a follow-up on Lexi's medical condition. Her bladder infection is back and her bacterial intestinal infection has not cleared up. Her temperament is not what Bill had said it was. He and his wife stated that she has a wonderful temperament. Not so. True, she is very sweet with me, however, overly protective and already nipped at my friend. She is difficult to control, when someone comes to the house, so now I have to hire someone to help me break her from her overprotectiveness. I am frustrated, because I spent most of my time at the Vet's office, for one thing or another. I cannot have people over to the house because of her overly protectiveness. Bill knew that I am a senior citizen, but he obviously does not care, as long as he makes some money. As I stated before, when I told Bill about her protective behavior, he in so many words told me that I wanted protection, even though I had asked for a pet quality dog, and now I had to deal with it. I owned German Shepherds before and never did I have one that was a liability, like Lexi. read more

I purchased a German Shepard from Bill at the cost of 3500.00. At one year we had his hips x-ray-ed and the results were that the dog had moderate hip dysplasia. I called Bill and was told wait until next year and his hips should be okay. We did the x-ray again and his hips were not fine. I called Bill and he was not the least bit helpful. Now at the age of 3 our dog now has lupus and will be on steroids for the rest of his life. As far as personality and looks he is great. Health wise terrible. There warranty is basically worthless and they offer no refunds or anything else to offset this. I would look for another breeder that offers a better health guarantee given the price that you pay for his dogs. There are good quality breeders that offer a lifetime health waranty. read more

I purchased a male Ultimate Supreme puppy from Bill in 2009, parents Voltan and Hanna. I can honestly say I was impressed with my puppy in the beginning. Wonderful temperament, disposition, etc. Vet adored him and I thought I got a real winner! At 18 months old, he started having issues with getting up, climbing on the couch, hopping down from the truck, etc. Took him to the vet and after checking over my dog, it was discovered that he was already showing signs of hip dysplasia. I contacted Bill and requested the OFA information for my puppy's parents. He became defensive immediately and only told me that in order for his dogs to rate SCH2 and higher they must rate "normal" on their hips. When I again asked for the OFA numbers I never got a response. Just yesterday, my dog's back legs and hips have completely locked up. His only chance of continuing on with a somewhat normal happy life is total hip replacement. He is only 3 years old. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS BREEDER!!! read more

This kennel is known among GSD people for being having sick and bad temperamented dogs. I had a situation similar to Roland B although not quite as serious. My female dog is just now coming out of her illness and putting on weight. I've spent thousands of dollars trying different food and vets trying to get her healthy. My male is still skin and bones and his back feet are very cow hocked. I was told as well that that was normal and he'd grow out of it. It didn't happen. Please Don't buy from this kennel. Find one whose contract is actually worth the paper it's written on and get a healthy puppy. This guy had over 50 dogs and I don't know how many puppies all in small kennels. The place reeked of dog urine and feces. My male puppy had diareaha when I got him but, I was too naive to realize that I needed to run the other way at the time. Bill can fleece new people like no other I've every met. Maybe my review will help keep someone else from a $10,000 mistake like I made. $5000 for the two dogs and at the very least another $5-7K in vet bills and expensive food trying to heal them. Look for a small breeder who lives with their dogs and who doesn't have so many. You can't give individualized care to each dog if you have 50+. It's just not possible. Research your breeders and look for one who says they'll take back the puppy and replace it if any hereditary issues develope and not just for the first year. Some of this doesn't become apparent untill the dog is an adult. A good reputable breeder will be there for all your questions and will be very concerned if a puppy that they've bred developes any issues whatsoever. A good breeder feels responsible for the animals they breed and follows up to make sure all is well. I learned the hard way from this incident and my subsequent dogs have come from quality breeders with much fewer dogs, who truly love and care about the dogs. A word of advice from someone who has been there; look elsewhere for your German Shepherds. You're headed for heartbreak when you loose a dog you've grown to love to HD or other illness because Bill Fleischer won't stand behind it and didn't breed it for quality in the first place. read more
