I did learn a couple of things from my brief experience with DFW K9. 1)Absolutely anyone can call themselves a behaviorist. 2)If you love your dog, you will take any financial loss rather than let them be exposed to harm. If you want your dog prodded with sticks or shocked with the maximum voltage from an e-collar then Preston is for you. His reaction to being told his services would no longer be needed were extreme, particularly for someone who had been paid $1900 for "training" he was no longer being asked to provide. If he was so comfortable slamming my door and shouting expletives at my daughter and I, I can only imagine how his interactions with my dog would have escalated. As it is, my already anxiety ridden dog is now even more fearful, damage I hope we will be able to undo with the help of an actual qualified professional. read more

The person in this "company" is uncredentialed, untrained, and a downright scam artist. We've been trying to get help for a dog with severe fear and anxiety behaviors and this person agreed to help. Little did we know, he would attempt to "change" our dogs behavior through highly unethical practices such as... 1) beating our dog with a stick to keep him back 2) striking our dog in the chest with his knee to keep him back 3) shocking our dog on the highest setting with a shock collar as a form of redirection 4) using aversive control through a prong collar (yes the thing that can literally kill dogs) In addition to all of the above, he also... 1) cursed and cussed us out because we wanted to stop services 2) refused to elaborate on the behavioral science behind his training, or lack thereof 3) tried to film a video of us saying we were "not letting him leave" even though he was already IN his car 4) lunged at us with aggressive intent Please, if you are in need of a behaviorist for your dog, seek someone else who is not this person. read more

As of writing this review on 04/01/24, we tried to cancel our services on 03/29/24 and request a refund from Mr. Halford. Instead, here are all the things he has done instead of communicating with us during that time... UPDATE: Mr. Halford is currently modifying his website to include " no cancelations or refunds". He is probably unaware that we have screenshots of what his website looked like before. 1) sent death threats to my partner's email through itemized cremation services of their mother 2) called animal control on our family dog, only for animal control to come out and deem the dog "non-aggressive" 3) stalked my partner through their work social media platform and posted false accusations about them on said platform 4) refused to refund his services even though he was in violation of his own contract 5) been BLACKLISTED from an entire apartment complex with a warning sent to its residents to not enroll in his services Additionally, you can read my google review for how he acted during his services. After a mishap with another trainer, Preston's videos seemed good. Even though my dog did not have challenging behaviors. We needed obedience training so that we can feel safe with her going out on the streets. Preston came the first time. He was good, he showed us how to use our feet and hit the dog in the face so that she can stay behind. Then, he told us what we needed to get. We met at a Pet Smart in Irving and showed me how to walked around in the store and watch for other dogs. This was okay, then spend most of the time 75% talking about his family. When I asked him to schedule another time with my son on his free day, Preston told me Monday as his day off and he was not going to work on this day. He took $1550.00 and that was it for the training. My dog didn't continue any training because he didn't work on Mondays. He never called back to reschedule or follow up on the training. Preston is a dog behaviorist. We had our kids Maltese mix staying with us for 8 weeks. He would bark and jump and aggressively chew toys and destroy them. ONE session with Preston and his mannerisms completely changed. He is much more chill and doesn't destroy toys and doesn't bark at us.
