Do not give this breeder your money. We gave her $1000 two years ago as a deposit for a white Labrador. (Return customer) After she gave me the run around for a year and a half, she agreed to refund my money as they were not going to have a white lab litter. She asked that I sign something saying I would not bad mouth her on social media. She never sent said document and then asked that I send an email saying I wouldn't. I did. I still do not have a refund. I posted a review on facebook and she promptly blocked me from the page. read more

don't like to give negative reviews in general. However, I am sad to say I feel the need. We adopted a dog from Legacy labs on Labor Day weekend. He was 9 months old which was a little surprising. My husband ask why he was just being adopted and she said it cuz of Covid and people weren't adopting. He was the last from the liter. All the pictures online showed a dog with a full coat. When we arrived he had been shaved dog to the skin all expect his head and tail. She said he didn't have any training, which should have been a red flag at nine months to have an owner care so little for a dog to not even teach them sit and come. To be clear, the dog is not an idiot. He learned sir very quickly, has learned to signal with a bell to go outside and is crate trained. We got him home to find out he was not at all potty trained either, which she claimed he was. When I asked at her house about how he let her know he needed to go she responded "all the normal ways." Again, should have been a red flag. He was itching a lot so I took him to the vet right away. He had a skin infection, his hair was matted all over his ears and tail. It took me about a week of gentle care to brush him out and remove all the mats. I didn't want him to get too frustrated doing it all in one sitting. She also said he has all his shots. She said she would mail them. I should have insisted to bring them with me. When I reached out asking for his records after leaving, she said oh yea he needs rabies and last kennel cough. I asked why she said he had all his shots and she said that dogs don't get their rabies and kennel cough until 1 year. Google search proved that wrong. He never had his 1st rabies or if he did, she didn't send the information. He is severely underweight. He weighed 41 lbs and you can clearly see his hip bones. The vet and all pet store employees have asked about it. As a standard poodle, sure he will be lean, but not THAT lean. I communicated to her that I was disappointed that things were ask she communicated and that she sent a dog with a skin infection. And that's when she stopped responding. I asked for more information on his breed and the exact dogs of hers she used to breed him and she refused to respond. I gave her a month to respond thinking life can be busy so maybe she just needed time to catch up. I reach out over several weeks to 3 different forms of communication. Also when taking him to the vet, I found out he was microchipped already. I honestly half wonder if she found a dog on the street or at a shelter and tried to pass it off as one of her own or if she really is so unprofessional that a customer can't kindly express dissatisfaction without being cut off completely. I will not refer anyone nor will I seek to purchase another dog from her. On a side note, I truly wonder what the setup was for this dog, he is scared of everything. Other people and other dogs. You would think if he was properly cared for he would be socialized at a house with 10 dogs and multiple people. He acts more like a rescue than any other dog I have ever owned. read more

We did not experience anything but positive, friendly, and sincere interactions. Kathie does love her babies and you can tell. Our puppy came very spoiled and we continue to spoil her even more!! Our labradoodle is so sweet and kind!! Our trainer at puppy class was so impressed how well socialized she is. I wish I could select ZERO stars. DONT BUY A DOG FROM LEGACY LABS. I purchased a fox red lab from Legacy labs in October of 2013. He was a healthy dog up until right before he turned 2 years old when he got GENETIC cataracts and glaucoma in both eyes. We were going to do a surgery worth $7000 in each eye but then his retinas detached making the surgeries obsolete. This genetic blindness at such a young age is due to faulty breeding and poor screening by Legacy Labs. Do NOT get your dog from these horrible people. I have reached out to them to tell them about this situation so it wouldn't happen if they were to breed his mother and father again and they completely ignored me. My dog is now five years old, he has been blind for 3 years and aside from multiple eye drops that are administered daily, the total cost due to his genetic blindness is over $10,000. He had to have one eye injected with a NEEDLE to dead his eye from any pressure and I just had to schedule for his other eye to be objected at the beginning of 2019. It has been a tough road, made worse by the fact that I spent a lot of money to purchase my dog that was supposed to be of the highest breeding. Instead he went blind. Legacy Labs breeders should be shut down and reported for unethical practices.They won't respond either which makes it even more frustrating since they will continue to pray on nice people and they are ruining people's lives. Given the other reviews about Legacy Labs, they are continuing to breed dogs that have or will have genetic blindness. read more

This has been an absolute heartbreaking nightmare. I was so pleased with my purchase and my new puppy that I originally wrote a very positive review. The buying process was wonderful and our little red lab puppy is the sweetest and most good natured pup ever. However, she is now two and a half. Nearly blind in one eye and fifty percent in the other and she is also having problems with her hips. I have fortunately purchased trupanion insurance and have still paid thousands out of pocket. I reached out to Legacy Labs multiple times with no response. Oddly enough, I still get her emails trying to get me to purchase another puppy. (!) It is incredibly sad. My dog is so sweet and having the hardest time at such a young age having to navigate the world blind. Not even a sympathy greeting or word of encouragement from these horrible people. read more

I purchased "Jake" about 18 months ago from Legacy. I have to say that Jake is the best dog ever. He is ridiculously smart, and everyone loves him. He's never met a stranger, and always attracts a crowd when we go for walks. I was very impressed with Kathie and her attention to her dogs. She was very knowledgeable, and she genuinely cared about the welfare of her animals. Her place is beautiful, and all the dogs are happy and healthy. I even got to play fetch with Scarlett, Jake's mom. I would highly recommend Legacy Labs to anyone looking. I dont think you could find a better person to get a dog from!! We gave a good faith deposit fee in the amount of $1000.00 contingent upon receipt of standard breeder information that is usually openly offered such as: DOB (which she did not know,) his weight, (so we could determine transportation options), copy of a shot record and his Embark testing since we wanted to breed him ethically and check his health before doing so. She sent another's dogs Embark testing and never gave us the information we requested so we could follow through. It was a flurry of lies, excuses and when we recognized that she is completely unethical we requested our 1000.00 back as she did not provide the information requested. Horrible experience would be 0 stars if able to do so. Kathy told us puppy was 13 wks old, paperwork stated he was 18 weeks. Dog came home super aggressive and was really possessive over everything. The best is he vet checked positive for giradia. Kathy stated this was common, not with any dog we ever purchased from a breeder. Looking back it makes sense, horse farm, puppies bacterial haven for them....buyers beware unless you see where the puppies are being kept and the parents Stay Away!!!!! She stands behind the all sales are final and tries to claim she will work with you, comical, unless there is a refund involved for lying and false advertisement then there is no resolution. If you go to pick up the puppy and only see the puppy in a kiddie pool in the front yard be careful don't go by her word. Don't be swayed by the excitement of the new puppy, it was my mistake for this occurrence but I stress please do yourself a favor and if any of this is common, Look elsewhere! read more

We adopted a black and white labradoodle from Kathie and Russell at Legacy Labs. We are so in love with this little guy. He's so sweet and laid back. Fits right into our home and loves our 12 year old cocker and 15 year old cat. I posted some pics of him with the cat. We searched for a lot of breeders and did not feel comfortable with many. We met Russell on a Saturday morning and he was out throwing the ball to one of their labs. That made me feel good about being there. They truly love these animals. It didn't feel like a business as did with others we visited. Their home where these gorgeous babies are was just top of the line. We will be back for another hopefully not to far into the future. I am happy for all of the success stories. However, I do not have one. We got Scarlett(A beautiful female white lab). From the minute we got her home, she was pooping blood and mucous. We got her on a Saturday and took her to the vet on Monday. She was diagnosed with intestinal viruses and parvo. These are common issues caused from excessive and improper breeding. It has been 4 weeks and she has received constant treatment. I just received a phone call from my daughter and Scarlett is in a emergency facility with iv tubes hooked to her. It does not look good and our family is devastated. Buyer beware. These people are not the first class outfit they profess to be. These guys are a glorified puppy mill and charge a fortune for it. Just because you are featured in D Magazine does not mean you are credible. The red flag should have gone up when we asked to see the sire and dame and they said they were in the kennel and refused to let us see any part of the facility other than the front yard. We also have left numerous messages asking for papers and have not received a phone call back. This poor puppy is suffering and we are helpless. I hope no one else will have to endure what my family has. 1 star is way too much. Negative stars are the only option in my book. read more

We have had our fabulous, smart, cute as a button, Labradoodle for 2 weeks, and I don't know how we lived without him. You can really tell how Kathie and Lindsay work with the pups before they go to their new families. He was house broken within a couple days...hits his bell on the door when he needs to go out. He sleeps in his crate at night with no problem, in fact goes in for naps too. Sits, lays down, plays fetch on command. My Vet commented on how mellow he was for 3 months old. He was impressed with him, and his perfect health. Legacy has them checked out by a Vet and you get a full disclosure about the heath. Legacy gives you all the information you will need when you get home, and support afterwards if you have a question. I can not thank them enough for the care they give their puppies before they are picked up. Obviously a puppy loving family! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a "doodle" or one of their white Labs . I was looking for a Goldendoodle and I am so glad I saw my baby's picture on their website and fell in love before we picked him up. We looked at a bunch of breeders in TX and OK before we found the perfect one. read more

I bought a white lab from legacy labs back in 2007. My lab is the best lab I have ever had. His mom is Pixie and dad is Legacy Maximum Millionaire. He is such a beautiful lab with a big block head. He cocks his head as if he is trying to figure out exactly what you are saying. He is also the most loving dog who shakes his whole body with excitement whenever you walk in the door. He talks to you in the sweetest way, it's almost like singings. He is also the most gentle lab I have ever had. I don't know a single person who has met him and not fallen in love. I would get another legacy lab in a heart beat. read more

In response to Kathie's commentary--I have since adopted a yellow lab rescue in my home that is a townhome actually--not a condo. He lives a very happy active life even without the acreage that I as a single female cannot yet afford or maintain. What I can provide is all the love and care a pet could ask for. My pup gets monthly meds like clockwork, regular check ups, and regular exercise outdoors. I love taking him places with me. He sleeps with me every night. I think it is important to remember that the individual providing the home and the home are not the same. A lot of people who have large yards don't ever exercise their dogs and they spend some time running around the yard on their own but more often than not are laying under trees or on porches, etc. they never get walked. As a matter of fact, my lab was an owner surrender for "yard destruction" after his initial family simply left him in their yard all the time and he was dumped in a kill shelter infested with flies, maggots, fleas and HW+. Now he has a loving home where he is the center of my universe. He is flourishing. My townhome was inspected before I could even be considered for adoption and the DFW Lab Rescue gave their approval. My biggest issue with the points you responded with is that despite your initial dismissal of my interest due to my townhome, but then you were later receptive to a subsequent inquiry for a puppy and several times responded "ok then call when ready to make your deposit." I can understand and appreciate worrying about placement of animals and believe me, I am one of the biggest animal lovers you could find, but it was only an issue initially then it didn't matter. Yes, you privately reached out to me later but I did not feel there was anything further to discuss. I don't really feel it changes anything about the manner everything was handled. I appreciate you taking my thoughts in to consideration and hope another loving home may be considered in the future despite initial judgment. read more

After searching long and hard for a labradoodle breeder within driving distance from our home we decided to give Legacy our business after all of the high praises we've read from others. Kathy was very accommodating with our schedule to pick up our doodle. I will say that once final payment is made it seems that you are no longer an important customer. Very slow replies, if any at all to texts and/or emails. Often times had to send 2nd messages days later because I was never sure they received my first one. Kathie is very aloof and unorganized I do give them credit for ensuring the health and vet exam for our doodle; however, after 2 weeks of having our puppy she had a terrible yeast infection in her ears that is costing me a hundred dollars + to treat. Be weary and really check over your puppy. I will not be recommending this breeder to anybody. read more
