This location and area has the worst vehicles to choose from. Go on their website and It's the same 8-10 models and they are in terrible condition. I just went on and for local vehicles I had 16 to choose from. They have all the good cars in Charlotte, Atlanta, Texas, etc. It seems like lately you have to get everything delivered because nothing good is on site, or maybe that's what they say so they can charge delivery fees, I don't know. The people that work there are nice, especially Sherry, she always takes great care of me, but as far as getting anything decent, good luck! They hardly ever prep the cars and they usually smell like cigarettes and are all dented and have extensive damage, at least that's been my experience over the last 13 months. read more

Zero stars. Stay away, and never provide them your credit card information.... I am currently in a dispute with Flexcar over two reimbursements: the first for a rental I had to get from another agency when a Flexcar rental broke down due to an oil pan crack that spread from vibration on a long road trip and another for the $704 monthly rental fee billed to me nearly a month after the car was TOWED to their facility. In regards to the breakdown from the oil pan crack, I had taken the vehicle into their facility due to oil leaking in the driveway. I was told the vehicle wasn't leaking oil, that the cap on top of the reservoir wasn't sealed correctly and oil was "blowing out the top when the car heated up" which as a girl with a father who is a Mechanic is a load of BS. I then mentioned a upcoming road trip from Tennessee to Georgia as part of an ongoing move and said my concern was that I would be stranded as a woman alone if the car broke down along the way in a rural area. I again was assured this would be fine. Sure enough, the car went into EPC mode and stopped 15 miles outside of any city. With the help of good Samaritans, I was able to get the car to a mechanic who informed me the car was not drivable. Upon calling Flexcar, they said they initially offered NO assistance and also said "we do not tow more than 150 miles." It wasn't until I was balling on the phone and became irate at the fact I was stranded 3 hours away from home by myself that they offered a $50 Lyft credit and said they would tow the car back to their facility. Ultimately, it was the Mechanic at the location - not Flexcar - who helped me in my search for rental car, which I had to uber 30 minutes to, drive 30 minutes back and transfer all of my suitcases/boxes before heading home. After fighting with Flexcar, they agreed to reimburse the rental which I have now been going back and forth with them on for WEEKS with no payment. In regards to the $704 monthly rental, I received a notice 5 days prior to the draft from my account that my rental would be renewing on the 15th. I immediately reached out stating this vehicle was TOWED to them weeks prior and closed. I was told this would be taken care of and I would not be charged, but low and behold, I was charged. I've now been sending multiple emails a day and calling Flexcar who have yet to make this right. Do not seek services from this company, and definitely do not provide them access to any of your banking/credit accounts. I wish I wouldn't have. read more

I would give it a half star if I could. Flexcar charged me an UNAUTHORIZED fee of $450 evidence of smoking fee, and I don't smoke, nor did anyone smoke in the vehicle. I only rode my children and elderly mother. No one else rode in the car. They charged $49 saying the car wasn't vacuumed. They were charging me $47 for every time I went over the allotted 850 miles. They charged me for 100 miles three times in one week and I was not driving 100 miles in a day. I live in a small rural town and barely drove anywhere. They are awful. They take money from your debit card UNAUTHORIZED and I suggest to anyone to never use Flexcar. read more

Flexcar Auburn is absolutely horrible. At first, I thought it was decent--and I'm using that word loosely. The first time I reserved a car and went to pick it up, I was left waiting for almost an hour before anyone would help me. I was continuously told to "hold on," and the customer service was awful. Despite that, I decided to give them another chance. This time around, I booked another car and was all set to pick it up when I received a notification that my reservation had been canceled because they "didn't have any of my information." That makes no sense considering I had already rented from them before. When I contacted customer service, they told me they couldn't do anything about it and that I would need to rebook. The problem is they don't have any cars available until the end of May. To make matters worse, they don't even want to refund me for the reservation that THEY canceled. Absolutely horrible experience from start to finish. Poor customer service, poor communication, and zero accountability. Flexcar needs to do better. read more

I don't have the car yet and already frustrated. First, they cancelled my order because they said the image of license was not clear even through it cleared in the app. The other is it keeps doing a pickup location in Auburn which is 50+ miles from where I live and Chestnut Hill is closer. I was told to either cancel the order and wait for my money to clear again, or pay $49 to have car relocated to Chestnut Hill which is absurd. They wouldn't even waive the first 50 miles that would be added to the vehicle once it's picked up to bring home. Starting to question if it's worth doing business with this company. read more

Avoid at all costs -- shady business practices! This company is an absolute scam! I've rented cars from many places before, but I've never experienced anything like this. They lured me in with a decent price, then blindsided me with outrageous charges throughout the rental period -- things like "excessive dirt" for a car that was returned clean, and mystery "driver fees" that were never disclosed upfront. I was charged $1,217 for a 4-day rental. No joke! RUN!!!! Do yourself a favor and rent from a reputable company. This place is dangerous, to a point I've reached out to the Attorney General's Office to investigate hidden charges and price gouging. I WISH I could leave Flexcar an excellent review. I've loved everything about my Flexcar--except for the safe driving score. My "safe driving" score dropped by several points because I braked hard to avoid hitting a child who bolted into the street. There was no way to foresee this. I can't believe that in that split second, I had to choose between protecting my score and protecting a life. You should never have to choose between keeping your score up and keeping someone alive. Flexcar claims it started this program to incentivize safe driving, but as my story proves, it actually incentivizes unsafe behavior. Ridiculous and disgusting. read more

Now I have to find the means to go all the way to auburn MA which is one hour away from me to pick up my personal belonging that are technically stolen!!! I called Flexcar and was sure they will help me right away, I have the insurance info from the person who was faulty, but instead Flex came to tow my car and left me without another car, while all other companies bring you a different car in exchange right away!!!! InflexibleCar would be more "truth in advertising"! There's nothing flexible about these people at all. Their system is robotic and unyielding as far as any willingness to provide the least possible flexibility to King Customer. This includes the ability to make the monthly payment a day or two early and you know the reason for that: auto-pay. An objection to auto-pay is not an objection to paying which seems to be the suggested implication of its advocates. If I am willing to pay a day or two early for financial reasons and conveniences of my own choice, and you refuse to take my money! I just don't know what to tell you son. The service seemed very nice at the beginning. When I first entered into an agreement, they delivered the car to me in Boston from their facility in Auburn, Massachusetts. It's my fault that I didn't ask them if they would pick it up, so I wound up having to Ask a friend to drive his car out to Auburn so I could ride back with him. It turns out that I now have the unexpected benefit of a witness to my story. So having scheduled the return and having brought the car back to them on the agreed upon date, I quickly found out that luck was against me as well.. While parked in a public parking lot on that morning I was going to return the vehicle a driver apparently scraped against the front driver's side wheel well and tore off a piece of the plastic wheel well flare. I pointed this out when I arrived to return the car. The associate at Flexcar (525 Washington Street, Auburn,MA) told me that they would have to charge me $900 for the damage. Ha! A quick Amazon search yielded a price of $169 for the part alone which is still a lot for a mass-produced piece of plastic, and I assume that Flexcar's purchasing power would let them buy the part for half that price. Paid every month. They led me to believe that insurance was included in the monthly payment (and still haven't said otherwise). 10 months of rental at $800 per month with no problems from a paying customer who was honest enough (as is customary within the social contract regardless of what any fine print anywhere might say) to report damage was an easy eight grand for them and now they don't want to be honorable because we know what they are: cheating, corporate weasels that use consumer tricks to defraud the public. That's come. This is going to cost them a whole lot more than $169 or $900. Next calls will be to the Massachusetts Attorney General's office, Federal Trade Commission, and anybody else in the media, online or conventional, that likes to traffic in juicy bad news about rogue corporations. I will update this review if they do the right thing. I'm sure their parents would be embarrassed to see their behavior. read more

Incredibly sketchy and unprofessional service. The staff are defensive, standoffish, and will do ANYTHING to avoid helping you, especially if you're asking THEM to foot the bill for it. My car arrived with an issue, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get in touch with the team, and I keep receiving non-answers. They're also hitting us with monthly membership fees we did NOT expect or agree to. If I could give this company 0 stars I would. At first I was very content with this company and then my car was side swiped at some point and I reported the damages and never heard from anyone for 8 MONTHS and at this point I was trying to swap my vehicle out for something bigger because I'm expecting a baby in a couple months. I brought up this issue and at first I was told I wouldn't be held liable and was offered a free swap and then 2 days before my swap they decided to have my send pictures for a damage estimate and the day prior to my swap they informed me that to fix a TAIL LIGHT and some light fender damage (needed to be pushed back in on corner, sanded, and painted) that it was going to COST ME OUT OF POCKET $1,254 and the insurance I paid for didn't matter at all. I created a payment plan to pay $314 (I paid the first installment) for 4 weeks and then could get my vehicle I planned my swap for and although it was a headache I was willing to deal with it. THE NEXT MORNING they decided to email me saying the vehicle was unsafe and it had to be returned IMMEDIATELY. Need I remind you I was driving it for 8 months with no problems at all because the lights still worked despite the tail lights glass being broken. I frantically called and explained that I'm paying them money and if I drove AN HOUR away from home on my only day off if they could let me wait for the tail light to be fixed OR provide me with my other vehicle and they told me they wouldn't be able to tell me that until I drove there which just wasn't an option for me at 7 months pregnant, working full time, with a 5 year old who is in school full time too. So I told them they could tow my car themselves and cancel my subscription IMMEDIATELY. I would never recommend this to anybody. The only person I will give 5 stars to is the customer service representative named Shelly she was very kind and the company should take notes from her. read more

Too-good to be true, for a reason. AVOID IF YOU HAVE OTHER OPTIONS. The lack of commitment and peace of mind from a lack of headache around a lease, insurance, and maintenance is balanced by their absolute robbery of a business model. I was given an AWD car with 4 different tires (all practically bald) and no spare, for a local rental in New England winter. I brought this up as an issue when I was struggling with an inch of snow on the ground, and was ignored. Predictably, one of these tires failed and I eventually got a flat on my way to work. After many twists and turns of a mess of customer service and inconveniences/expenses to get this car to a tire repair shop, I was left stranded without transportation (I live alone in a rural community) for 3 days. I was not compensated for the stress nor refunded the amount I had already paid to have a car those days through my membership. Additionally I had to pay $90 to retrieve the car from the only place they approved to work on it in the area, and I am still discussing with them what if any refund I will receive to cover this additional expense. Customer service is polite but ultimately unhelpful and they must be absolutely failing financially because there is zero flexibility or accountability for their mistakes and they pass this economic burden onto the customer. read more

We generally had a positive experience with Flexcar. We rented a vehicle from them during the winter months to help bring our young child back and forth to daycare, as we are a one car family and use a bike for transport in the warmer weather. the car arrived in good condition, and the billing practices were fair and up front. I will say a lesson learned is to start with the lowest mileage plan and then see if you need to scale from there - we never got close to the monthly miles we bought and so paid more I think. I would pay per mile we do it again. Only real downside was they forced you to return the car to Auburn instead person instead of having a pick up option. This was incredibly inconvenient as it requires one adult to drive the return car and one to drive a car to pick that person up. That factor alone is why we likely won't rent from them again, although the rest of the experience was positive. read more

This is the second time that my FEXCAR has had battery problems: the car is not drivable and needs to be towed to the shop. FLEXCAR continues to charge you while the car is being fixed and they don't offer a replacement. Once the car is fixed, they expect you to get it from wherever they have taken the car (across town) or they will charge you. In my case, I'll be out of the country when the car is fixed but they will still charge me. The company's operations are a mess-- at the time of writing this, they believe that they have picked up the defective car and are fixing it, when it's sitting in my driveway. The first time this problem happened, I wrote to someone in senior management and they were super-responsive. I thought that this was a one-off problem, but then it happened again and I got the same unreasonable service, asking for payment when the car is not drivable. FLEXCAR is a company with a great business model and I want them to succeed-- the senior management seems great, but their customer-service people are rigid and not empowered to help the customer read more

The way this company poorly handled a repossession on a friend of mine, communication was all over the place. The departments clearly don't update one another. We're going to contact every news outlet and an attorney and let them know how Flexcar had someone pick up the car, didn't even tell her, had her stranded with 2 young kids in the heat. All of her belongings including her children's car seat and her house keys still in the car. She ended up in the hospital due the amount of stress. I've personally owed way more with my leasing company and never got to the point of my car being repossessed like this and threatened like they did to her. I felt terrible. This company is no better than dealing with the regular dealership. They don't care about you, the agents are like robots reading what's on a screen. I had an accident where it wasn't my fault. The guy admitted to being at fault. He knock down the side view and broke passenger window. I git his insurance and im guessing they' ll pay for all damages. Eventhough I believe the accident is going be less than 2000$. They still took 2000$ out my account , took my right to get another car w their buissnes. I've had a Flexcar for almost a year now. The monthly rate was always a little too high to be worth it, but I do really love not having to think about insurance/maintenance. I've never needed to ask them for anything or had issues with the car until last week. I was hit on the interstate by a guy who was having a heart attack. Thank God we were both OK, and I called 911 and they arrived on time. I called Flexcar right away and asked for a swap and they made me go through this absurdly long process. I told them I didn't feel comfortable driving the car an hour and a half back to my house. I was only half an hour from the New England hub. They refused to tow my car, and they also refused to let me drive to the hub to swap. And then, after that initial conversation, no one even got back to me until the following day. Since then, it has been a nightmare... They want me to pay a swap fee for a new vehicle. Why would I would pay a swap for an accident that wasn't my fault? Isn't the point of paying over $850 a month that I should always have a reliable vehicle to drive? Forget about customer service even, this is an insane legal liability for the Flexcar... Turns out their business model is to make promises, hope the customer doesn't need anything, and keep signing up new suckers who haven't found that out yet. read more
