My one cat had a urinary blockage February of 2025, so I told Dr. Smiley I wanted to get him on prescription c/d food for urinary care to help him. Dr. Smiley said to me "He doesn't need that, he seems to be doing great." Yeah well I had to put my cat down 3 weeks later because he had another urinary blockage. This may have been prevented or not as big of a problem if I would've just got the food I knew my cat needed and the doctor said no. Also I work as a vet tech for another hospital so I know what I'm talking about, I wasn't asking for something random that he didn't need. Also I talked to the vet I work at about this and they were surprised because typically if a cat has a urinary blockage they immediately get put on the prescription c/d food. The vet tech that came out to get my cat was also very friendly and knowledgeable. I was charged a $15 fee because my cat was in heat at the time of her spay, which I think is reasonable. They let me know that when they called to tell me my cat made it out of surgery. The incision was small and appears to have healed well. So I believe the doctor did a very good job. I also opted to have her nails cut while she was under anesthesia. They did a very good job with that too. They do send your pet home the same day. Just be sure to keep an eye on your animal when you get home. She was pretty much fully over the anesthesia upon leaving, and we were told to give her additional pain medicine that we purchased at 8pm. That pain medicine made her so tired that she fell asleep with her head in her water bowl. Luckily, she was wearing a cone and didn't inhale any water. I do not think this is the fault of the clinic at all. But I just want to warn to keep an eye out after you get home, especially if giving additional pain medicine.
