Flight gymnastics cares about the kids and my son always has a fun class. All in all I would recommend it, but there could be improvement in a few areas - teachers could do a better job introducing the students to each other and creating a more team like environment, even with the younger kids. Also, I have some slight concerns about gym cleanliness. The waiting area smells, the chairs are dirty and stained and the floor is always dirty. The gym mats look clean from a distance so hopefully it's just the guest area that's being overlooked. read more

Wow! We came to flight school gymnastics for a private with coach Abby. My daughter has been working on her back handspring for a while now and needed to get it for the next upcoming season of competitive cheer. We have had a few privates before and my daughter was so close but something was missing and she wasn't able to hit it. We did a one hour private, within 20 min of our private my daughter nailed it!!! Coach Abby was able to identify the problem, make some adjustments to her form and she nailed it! I could not be more thrilled of this instructor who took the time to get to know my daughter on a personal level and make her feel comfortable and silly but also know how to change tunes and when to focus. Flight school was a very clean gym, clean bathrooms, ladies at the desk were very friendly. My observations of the last 2 months of my daughter being here are as follows: Classes never start on time. It takes the coaches a long time (a good 3-5 minutes) just to gather their students. Then, 10 minutes of warning up and doing stretches. Then, another 5-7 minutes of gathering their needed equipments and providing instructions. So, by the time classes actually start, 15-20 minutes had already been wasted. Then, there's more time wasted during class for chitchatting/exchanging info with other coaches, changing stations, and gathering more equipments, etc. Yet, classes always end on time or a couple minutes early. It also seems that some coaches are less motivated than others. These classes aren't cheap and I'm sure all parents would want to see their money being well spent and that they're getting the maximum benefits for what they had to pay. Please reevaluate your class structure, dynamics, curriculum, and training of your coaches. One thing I do like at FSG is Katie. She's been beyond helpful and informative. Scheduling and rescheduling has been a pleasant experience with her. read more

I just wish they wouldn't spend so much time warming up. Classes are only 1 hour with a large group of girls. They should spend more time on learning skills using the gymnastics equipment and not so much time warming up and stretching. Warm ups should be 10 minutes. Please do a refresh of the training with your staff. Because in addition to the 15-20 minute warm up at the beginning of the class, the last 10 minutes were used to do sit ups. I honestly love this place so much. My daughter went to a different gymnastics location that taught her nothing the 2 years she was there. We switched to Flight School and during the very first class I was so amazed how much they actually do. They do about two maybe 3 activities every class (bars,vaults, tumbles,etc) and the instructor spends time with each kid and really helps them fix what they're doing wrong. My daughter couldn't do a pullover the whole 2 years she was at the other place and just from being here 3 months she's doing so much better! They also do assessments every 3 months and move them up once they've met the criteria. read more

Coaches are very dedicated and always pushing the kids to do their best. My daughter is 11yo and she absolutely loves Flight School. She has improved so much since she joined the gym. Her skills are constantly getting better and more challenging, which keep her motivated and active. They're back! We loved Flight School before pandemic and we love it even more now. Our older daughter had been taking classes pre-pandemic while our under 3 year old watched and waited patiently for her turn. No sooner did she turn 3 in February 2020, did the Corona shut everything down--just one month after she started. When Flight School opened back up, they had a long waitlist, but FS was able to make accommodations for us to get both girls back in! They were over the moon! Flight School has also been really flexible allowing the girls to have make up classes when we go on vacation and Brooke Stetson has been SUPER helpful each time we come in! Spend time listening to and watching the coaches, gymnasts and parents interactions and communications before you consider joining Flight School Gymnastics Team. Do your due diligence: look around at the set up and safety of the gym, read the names on the walls and search athletes on mymeetscores.com and Instagram with a sense of curiosity. Why is the FS Team is so small, why have so many top gymnasts left and look at how happy and successful they are at their new gyms. Ask anyone who has departed from FS and there is always one common factor in the decision and it always has to do with the coach from beam and floor. It's sad to watch her negative manner and pattern continue year after year; the owners show limited control over the situation or accountability regarding any expectation in her behavior, communication, or coaching. If your goal Is is to attend college it is important to point out that only ONE gymnastics has received a college scholarship since Flight School opened 10 years ago. I wish I would have taken more time when selecting a gym for my daughter, because we wasted time at FS but after years of tears and coaches favorites, being ignored or screamed at, feeling humiliated and unsuccessful my daughter is thriving at her new gym; my only regret is that we didn't leave Flight School earlier. I wish I could rate the gym a Zero. My daughter had an amazing season this year at her new gym. She is happy, healthy, and we love our new gym team family and we are never looking back! We went here for almost 6 months and my daughter made zero progress because all they seem to invest their time in is girls with "natural" gymnastic abilities and if you don't have it they don't bother to "teach" it. For a beginners class they should be teaching skills not just giving orders and expecting girls to just pick the skills up. I was extremely disappointed at the lack of teaching going on in the classes. I'm only giving 2 stars because the front desk women were very helpful. My 4 yo has been attending for a few months now. I really like their day time options for 3-5 yo co-ed. They're the only class, so they're not distracted by the older classes going on. I also appreciate that they keep the class size small so that each child gets ample attention. I do hope to see more specific instruction on improving individual skills, but I realize we are still at the beginner stage. Didn't like it one bit. That drill sergeant girl from south bay gym now works here. That young lady is way too intense for young kids. You can get your point across without screaming at them, This isn't football. I never saw her smile once (and she is very pretty, shame), even when the poor girl was doing anything she could to please her. I stopped taking my daughter because #1, there isn't any A/C in the building and I think that's a safe hazard when it's 80+ degrees outside and the inside of the gym is probably 90+ because it's a warehouse and the equipment for the gym, my daughter has told me a few times how she's hot. I'm not sure of her name, but one of them is always loud telling other coaches what to do and the coaches would say something back and I just think it's inappropriate to do in front of kids. That should be handled before the start of class. My daughter did learn while she was there and the private sessions the academy offers are really helpful. I wish it was more organized and professional. read more

This place smells worse than any hockey locker room I've ever been in. You would think that for the money they are charging they could afford some air freshener. All of the staff here are so, so friendly and helpful. We have been able to use our charter school funds with no issues. My daughter really enjoys her beginners class with Coach Juan. It has been great to see how much she's learned from the variety of exercises with the help of so many patient and knowledgeable coaches. This is the real deal! Very professional and dedicated coaches. Great with little kids, very fun classes for the recreational program, and an AMAZING competitive team! We've been going to Flight School for 8 months and my daughter loves it and feels at home there. They've put A/C units to help with the summer heat. I would suggest they get better chairs, though. When you're sitting there for a long period of time, those are not the most comfortable. Other than that, I can't say enough positive things about this gym! read more

This is a great gym with a wonderful staff that will really try to work with your child's needs and skill level. Both my daughters have taken classes here regularly for the last 4 years. My youngest daughter is on the competitive team and gymnastics has been a huge part of developing her confidence and self-esteem. The coaches understand her individual strengths and weaknesses and have helped her be the best gymnast she can be, while also helping her to understand things like goal setting and mental focus that will benefit her long after her gymnastics competitive career is over. My older daughter is a dancer and has regularly taken acro and tumbling classes designed for dancers and cheerleaders and has gotten some great new skills from this. My son has not taken classes but has attended Parent's Nights Out on Fridays many times. In fact, all three of my kids have, and have brought friends, and had a great time. I have recommended many friends to Flight School and they have all been happy. The coaching staff cares, and management is always open to feedback and improving. read more

At first they were really enthusiastic about enrolling my daughter. Shes in a beginner class and now as weeks go by, they pay less and less attention to her. The girl is either looking away or talking to someone. Today I noticed my daughter kind of sad bc she doesn't get any praise or smile. My daughter had weekly classes here for roughly two years. Lorena, the teacher for ages 3-5, is top notch and great with the kids. I did competitive gymnastics as a child and can tell you that they taught actual gymnastics skills!! Another plus is that Brooke in the front office is helpful and approachable.
