Food, wine, whiskey list is all fantastic. The acoustics are absolutely terrible. Would be 5 stars if they could install acoustic tiles.

How great to have such a fun cool place, out in the 'burbs! Went with my hubs on a Saturday eve, on a "date night" and we loved it---bonus, it is in a little strip plaza in Greece, 5 minutes from home. My husband is a huge whiskey and scotch lover, so when I told him about the opening of this business, he was all over it. The specialty here is whiskey and wine, but there are other spirits, cocktails, and beers available. The bar menu is rather impressive actually! A kitchen with small plates closes at 10pm, but a selection of "bites" is available until closing which is great. When we arrived at 9:30pm, it was, not surprisingly, super busy (there are not a lot of entertainment options out in Greece!) We immediately scored a table for 2 along the back wall, and were promptly greeted by our server, who was efficient, attentive, professional and also very pleasant. She went through the entire menu with us, answering any questions we had, and was able to make some recommendations based on our preferences. My husband had a question she didn't immediately know the answer to, she asked the owner, and was back in a couple of minutes. My husband started with a Japanese whiskey which he had been wanting to try. He ordered it straight, neat. It was not quite to his liking, and when our server came over to check on us, and found this out, she suggested maybe some water to open it up, came back with a little dropper bottle. And she was right, a few drops of water made a big difference. So this young woman was in her game, even though she was quite busy. I went with a red wine flight featuring pours from France, Spain, and Italy. ( I had to give that one to the French, with a delicious Cote du Rhone. The menu has several wine flights, both white and red, and one sweet type flight. On another page whiskey flights are listed. Both domestic and imported selections are represented. Single bottles, and glasses of wine, and glasses of other spirits are available as well if you don't want to go the "flight" route. I also had to try one of their "aged" cocktails, an Old Fashioned which was really well done, the barrel aging process gave it a unique taste. For his second round, my husband went with a much beloved 21 year old scotch (ouch!! But we were celebrating our anniversary). Accompanying our drinks we had a cheese plate, selecting 2 delicious cheeses (one goat, one sheep) and some venison sausage, served with a sliced baguette. It was just right for later night nibbles. We both really enjoyed the overall vibe of Flight West, decor is clean, modern, dark lighting. A huge bar, complete with backlighting and ladders(!) is a focal point, for sure. One definitely is transported from a suburban strip mall when sitting in Flight West. Noise level=quite loud, difficult to converse. and there was a big tv (which is a pet peeve of mine)---but it is somewhat tucked away in the corner. A little background music might have been nice I was anticipating something a bit more subdued at a "wine bar" but it was Saturday, full capacity. I'm sure it's quieter at other hours. We had a fun time at Flight West, and again, so great to see some interesting businesses opening up in Greece. I love going into the city, but sometimes want to be close to home! The small plates were terrific. The roasted vegetables, amazing. The sausage plate, really impressive. The selection of booze, beyond equal. The whole idea, really appealing. However, the noise is offputting. I was so happy to leave, and to allow little bit of peace and quiet to reenter my Skull. All of the good and appealing parts of this place are off put by the ambience, which is just plain unpleasant. It's a lot of money, for an experience that is not a lot of fun. What to order- the "oops Ian" if you like bourbon. This place is unique. Maybe I don't get out enough but I've never seen anything like it in Rochester. If you like booze, beer or wine this is the joint for you. A wall, floor to ceiling behind the bar filled with whiskey bourbons ryes and scotch. There is an old school library ladder for the bartenders to climb to reach the plethora of different bottles. I wanted to take pics of menu but it was twenty pages long. When someone told me about this wine bar that has whiskey I envisioned some pretentious, distressed white furniture sweater vest wearing wine bar. It's not that at all. It's a bar with a giant chalkboard menu for the specials and food. It has heavy metal chairs, a stainless steal bar and vintage looking light bulbs. I would say it's more of a whiskey bar that also serves wine. The choices for bourbons, ryes, whisky and scotch is endless. You can get flights (3 glasses) of booze that they pick for about 18 to 22 bucks. It's really too much to describe. Just go you won't be disappointed in the selection. I didn't get a chance to try the food because I was stuffed from dinner. Someone in our party ordered the cookies and milk which was a bourbon based milkshake with two giant cookies. I'm on a business trip in the area this week, heard about Flight West and checked it out last night. I can't review the food as I didn't have any, but the whisk(e)y selection and knowledgeability of at least the bartender serving me (Tom) was excellent. They offer pre-selected flights, but a big bonus to me is they will pour custom flights of three one-ounce pours of any whiskies on the menu, so you can try more whiskies at a lower cost than if full shots were the only option. Prices were generally reasonable, in light of the inflated bottle prices that the current worldwide boom in whisk(e)y demand has created. I look forward to revisiting Flight West during future business trips to Rochester. read more

Took my wife here recently for her birthday and we were not disappointed! If you've been to Flight, you already know what to expect. Being a bourbon guy, I was pleased to see their extensive list of bourbon and scotches. My wife was happy with her wine flight and charcuterie board. I had the greens and beans (becoming a standard) and they were outstanding. I also enjoyed an old fashioned with Whistle Pig bourbon. It was a premium price, but I'd say it was worth the cost. The service was excellent which is always a plus in my book. On the Flossy Carter scale or 1-10, I'd chalk this up as a major win! read more

I've felt slightly out of place at original Flight the few times I've been there, and I didn't get that at the West location at all. Service was friendly and attentive, and the server was helpful in recommending wines that my friend and I would like based on our tastes. As you might have guessed, they have a great selection. Flights allow you to try a half glass of three different kinds, perfect for the indecisive drinker or those who like to sample. My friend got the One Sweet World flight, and I got the Kismet flight. I couldn't tell you which of the three wines I enjoyed more, as they were all good (and I'm not that picky). We split the bruschetta, which was filling and had fresh ingredients. They also have a cocktail menu that I can't wait to try. I'm not a whiskey person, but the bourbon/whiskey selection is mind boggling - pages and pages! This place could be great but everytime we go it takes forever to get anything. I thought at one point it was the bartender but tonight she wasn't on and it was the same lack of attentiveness we always receive. Not that anyone is rude in fact it's the opposite everyone is very nice but I don't understand sitting at the bar with an empty glass and it takes 20 minutes to be asked if i would like another especially when the place is 60% full. I would gladly pay for another drink if asked but instead we need to go. So check please. Greece definitely needs flight west to step up it's game and be on par with places like Revelry or Good luck or even the original Flight next to Tony D's. I wanted to explore a new wine bar in my new neighborhood. We are a big fan of flight wine bar in downtown so this seemed like a good place to try. Wines were different but fun. I really enjoyed conversation of the male bartender. He knew his spirits and was enjoying his work. The girl however was a different game. She knew her wine but somehow felt like she didn't want our money. She was too unfriendly and made me feel like since she knows better about wine than I do (of course, I am a professor not a wine maker), I should be ignored or something. Beyond fabulous! A party of 8 isn't always easy. We ordered wine flights, barrel cocktails and special hand crafted cocktails and all were perfect. The charcuterie boards came out with meats and cheese and a warm crisp baguette. Have you ever had honey on your Gouda? Yes please. Next, Chef Steve came to the table and made his recommendations and the special Lobster Roll was like being on the east coast! Lobster MacNcheese rich and creamy. The burger juicy and flavorful with hand cut wedge potatoes, housemade ketchup and pickles and bun! Lobster and seafood chowder seasoned so well with a velvety texture. The Tuna Tartar layered with avocado and caviar in a visual presentation of a swoosh of black and white sesame seeds, and dotted wasabi and siracha. Mmm. Feeling very satisfied out comes Chef Steve's Rochester Chef Throwdown award winning dish! Smoked duck with a Korean spiced rub, layered with a fried duck egg served over sweet potato hash drizzled with a apple cider gastric! An explosion of flavor. Dessert was a chocolate mint chip cookie, Pittsford Dairy chocolate ice cream sandwich with a raspberry coulis paired with a tequila cream or Black Button bourbon cream and yes...taste buds dancing... then from behind the bar comes Tom, the very knowledgeable mixologist, with a tasting of his own, a very special bourbon he has aged in a solara style (i May have the name wrong) that truly topped off the dining experience. Absolutely love this place. Hands down the nicest place on the west side. As a previous east sider I truly miss having the hip downtown atmosphere and the joints that embody this. The west side has a place that luckily is just that. The selection of spirits, wines and cocktails is amazing. I love going and having a few flights and some food. There's a $1 oyster night which while is great when we had gone for this they were unfortunately not shucked appropriately with the bottom adductor muscle was still attached to the shell, but they were delicious oysters with a great mignonette and they have cholula hot sauce which in my opinion is the only hot sauce to eat with oysters. We also ordered the wagyu burger, lobster roll, and lobster mac and cheese.... oooooh the Mac and cheese. Don't expect the smooth gooey creamy Mac and cheese from your childhood. This was on the thinner side but cheesy and very lobstery. So basically the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth. Omg.... soooo damn good. The burger was also absolutely delicious and something I would not give a second thought to ordering again. The lobster roll was standard. Nothing too special but good. The Bavarian pretzel we ordered as an afterthought (because clearly we really needed more food...) as we were just hanging out and having a good time (something that's encouraged, and at no point did we feel rushed or pressured to leave). If you like insane wines, this is your place. If you like creative cocktails, again come to Flight West. It will probably take me all year to sample his entire collection, but it will definitely be well worth it. And since the owner Dave is continuously talking to his many suppliers, he is always first to get that rare beverage which few people on earth get a chance to drink. Dave the owner, hosted a private dinner for us last night which was beyond excellent!! The ambiance includes an approximately 60' long and 12' tall back bar that is back lit with an array of whiskey, bourbon, rye and scotch. Some of the bottles have familiar names, but many are unique, rare and truly exquisite. His collection is probably the broadest in Western NY!! The food which was paired with our meal was equally impressive, from the charcuterie, the variety of cheese, flat breads, sliders and lobster mac and cheese. We left truly satisfied with our new found knowledge, full bellies and a overall sense of satisfaction only achieved by the masterful combination of fine adult beverages, great camaraderie, great food and laughter. I have been here about 2 or 3 times before. Once for a private event and another to meet people for drinks.. Went to dinner last night with friends and it was a little more lengthy on time than I expected(our own fault going to dinner at 7:00pm on a Saturday) but very good. The service was great. Went to the bar and waited for a table to open up. We all ordered our own flights. All together we got 1 wine flight LUMINOSITY 1 BUBBLY flight, and then 2 bourbon flights: Locals Only & Dixie Highway -- roughly $73 all together.. settled at the bar and then we were seated for dinner. Briefly looking at the menu and seeing how busy they were we ordered the olive oil flight and the pretzel "The Big One". We all had a different entree and sampled each others food. We ordered the Steak Sandwich, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Crab Salad and Lemon Pepper Fettuccine. Someone ordered the Kentucky X-ING to try their specialty cocktails- very tasty! I've been to Flight West twice within 2 weeks with various family/friends. Both times we were a larger group of people and they were welcoming and accommodating.The bartender crafted a cocktail for me based on the pineapple vodka, it was delicious with a lovely presentation. Wine flights and other cocktails were also very good, the staff is knowledgeable and very helpful if needed when trying to decide what to drink from the huge menu. Both times the food was excellent. Between both visits we tried the wings, the crab cakes, short ribs, the flat bread, lobster mac & cheese, and the burger! Everything is shareable. Also on both visits we started with various charcuterie plates, accompanied with warm bread and presented beautifully on platters that were labeled with the names of the cheeses/meats. It was very busy both Friday's but the service was still great! Flight West is a welcome addition to the west side. I know we'll be going back! read more

Terrible! I was so disappointed with this place. My girlfriends and I made reservations here for this past Saturday night for my friend's bachelorette party. The manager told us that he would rope off a section of the bar for us. We even confirmed a day prior. Upon arriving, the servers had no idea we were coming. Luckily there was an available section for us to sit in. I don't know what we would have done if there wasn't. That wasn't the worst part though. We ordered drinks around 7:35 and didn't receive them until 8:15 (the time we were supposed to leave to make our next reservation somewhere else). I asked the servers numerous times where our drinks were and that this was a bit ridiculous. I work in the bar/restaurant industry and I would never allow my customers to wait that long. When we finally received our cocktails, the waitress brought over our check with 18% gratuity already added on. I was appalled. Not to mention, someone in our party overheard the one server complaining about us to the other staff when we were very polite and patient. I will never come back here. This was the worst way to start off a night, not to mention a bachelorette party considering the fact that almost all of the girls were from out of town and we promised this place would be great. read more
