Nice ambience! Walls are dark and lighting is turned down just enough for most moods. The bar area is very impressive for a smallish place. Long and high literally. Myself and my wife met two friends at flight west a few months back, I noticed a 60 day dry aged steak on the menu. I ordered the steak, when it came out, I noticed it was small for a $100 steak, when I ate some of it, I noticed it wasn't dry aged, due to the fact that I eat several high end steaks, on top of that , all I could taste was the heavy pepper on top! I let everyone at the table try it, they all agreed, but I wasn't gonna say anything. Everyone at my table told the waitress, a couple minutes later, the Chef, if that's what you wanna call this guy, came to our table and just started arguing with me, and I'm the one that didn't wanna say anything! Very sorry to have to post this after two nice experiences here in the last couple of months. We went last night (Friday) and it was so loud that we had to yell across the table to be heard. Secondly, we ordered the snapper special and asked the waitress if there were a lot of bones to deal with and she said no. The fish arrived with all of the bones in it, not at all what we expected. We waited over thirty minutes for our entrees even though we didn't order appetizers. We had to search out the waitress to put in our order. And, to top it all off, after we complained about the waiting time because we had somewhere else to go to after, she had an attitude and basically said that waiting a half hour with no food was acceptable there. It's nice to have a place like this in Greece and they can fix the noise problem. But, they need to do a much better job in staff training all the way around. read more

Nice to see in our Greece neighborhood! We stopped on a Saturday night a couple of weeks before Christmas. It was busy but not packed full. The selection of spirits is outstanding. I thought it was a bit pricey. There are plenty of food selections that are well thought out and what we had was very good. A little loud due to the acoustics but not overly annoying. The service was good which I assume has been rectified from previous reviews. We will be back, since there was many bourbons yet to be tried. read more

Love this place! Upon walking I immediately was greeted by the bar and felt a cozy, industrial chic vibe. I lived in Rochester for 10 years and was visiting, this was a well-worth stop and really nice to see an upgrade to the dining in the local area. The restaurant and bar is spot on with a West Coast inspired menu and array of cocktails, the pricing was right and the food was delicious. The service was even better - if possible. Favorites would be the Sparkling Flight, Chicken Wings - delicious, and the Baked Brie with honey. I'll definitely be back next visit and referring all my friends/family there. read more

My newest date night spot! My husband and I were given a gift card for this restaurant and had never heard of it before. The first time we went we got wine flights, spirit flights, appetizers, and entrees. Somehow we kept making room for more food! Everything was over the top yummy. We loved that they have daily specials. We have tried the poutine, tacos, eggplant dish, mac & cheese, and so much more. Everything is always amazing and you can tell it is fresh ingredients. The staff have always been the best. I love that they pace themselves so you can really enjoy everything. You never have more than one course on your table at once. We had the curated NYE dinner with our choices from the options: Beef short rib with farro and root veg soup, granny smith apple/pomegranate/valdeon blue/grapes/super greens/champagne vinaigrette/candied nuts salad, stuffed beef tenderloin with caramelized onion jam/spinach/tomatoes/chevre & herb whipped potatoes with haricots verts, and finally, chocolate creme brulee. Food was stellar, our server was attentive, but one thing rubbed us, which was odd. After our second course came out, it felt like we were being rushed so that they could seat another table. This is a nice high end place for the West Side. I think it will be perfect for people that live in the Greece/Gates/Hilton area that don't want to hike all the way into the city for a cute wine bar. Flight West only does wine flights, but they do have craft beer, cocktails, and multitude of spirits to choose from. The fights range from $15-$20 for three glasses. They had about 12 different pre-selected flight options, with sleek names like "Total Eclipse, Luminosity, Curve Appeal, Speak No Evil," etc. The ambiance is as sleek as the flight names, Marble table tops, dark brown furniture, a mirror gallery wall, and high top leather bar chairs. They have that retro style edison lighting, and a very impressive bottle display with a moving ladder. Mondays are "industry night", so if you are a server you can get 10% off of your bill. They do their own spin on Taco Tuesday, and you can mix and match a taco flight if you want. I think our taco flight was $12 for 3. My favorite was the shrimp taco with the mango salsa. My girlfriend got it with a refreshing watermelon margarita. Wednesdays, they do 10% off of bottles, and release a new flight. Thursdays they do $1 oysters until they sell out, and pair it with $9 glasses of Muscadet. Their weekly special is $6 on select sparkling wines. Unfortunately, they do not have a patio, because it is in a tight plaza, next to a Dunkin and Froyo place. The inside is very chic, and it would make for a good West Side date. I have had great bartenders who were super nice and provided excellent service but there is one bar tender who consistently ignored us and acted like making us a drink was the most annoying thing in the entire world. Whoa. First great impression. Flight West is owned by the same people who own the flight bar in cornhill. I have been to that one once and didn't really care for it either way. So we were a little skeptical going to the new one in Greece , but after walking in those fears quickly went away. Pete was our bartender and he quickly helped us navigate through the hefty drink menu. We received olives while we were looking (not a fan, but a cute idea). He was very knowledgeable of the extended menu. They serve a wide variety of wine flights, whiskey flights, scotches, craft cocktails and pretty much anything you can think of. Although it's a bit pricey, it was worth it! Our bill was 76$ (100 with tip) and we ordered 2 flights of wine, a charcuterie plate with 2 cheeses and one meat, an order of beef jerky, a single glass of wine and a port. The charcuterie plate was really good, it came with lots of bread, honey and spicy seeded mustard. It's worth treating yourself to something like this every once in awhile, plus I know they have Groupons for the place in Corn Hill so maybe they'll have some for this place too. It's awesome that they are in Greece, as Greece doesn't have much to choose from. Bravo, we will definitely be back. read more

My friend and I enjoyed Flight West a lot! We sat at the bar and while it took a good bit for a bartender to acknowledge us, he apologized for the wait (they were slammed) and was super friendly the entire time so that was ok. We each enjoyed a different flight of wine (one rose and one reds) and split the baked Brie and Flight Salad. Both were absolutely delicious. Servings were very generous. 4/5 stars for two reasons: a) It's loud and my friend and I were shouting at each other and b) there's no hostess stand to help you find a table. First time at Flight West for dinner and we will be back. Our server was super friendly and helpful in navigating the menu, and everything was prompt despite it being a busy Friday evening. I got a flight of bubbly beverages including Prosecco and rosé and they were all delicious. Our burrata toast and tuna appetizer were very tasty, but the gnocchi dinner I ordered was absolute perfection. I haven't had gnocchi that good in, well, I can't remember when. Each gnocchi was huge and pillowy soft with a delicious sauce. I ordered that and my friend ordered the chicken cutlet so we could share, and her cutlet was crispy and delicious as well with some unique vegetable toppings. My husband got one of the weekly specials and it came with a French onion Mac and cheese that I tasted and I loved it! We probably wouldn't have known about flight west unless we had received a gift card and I'm so glad we did, it was a real treat. The only thing that I didn't love was the noise level. It is super loud in there, and they probably should consider some noise dampening additions to the ceiling or something, because we practically had to yell to hear each other and we were sitting right across the table from one another. Also, I would imagine that would be hard for the servers because our server also had to yell practically at our table for us to hear her. She probably goes home every night with no voice, so that is something they should address. It's not enough to deter me from going back, but knowing that I would probably try to go at a less busy time. read more

Tonight we tried Flight West. It's been on my list for a while so I was excited to finally have the opportunity to get there. What drew is in was the $1 oysters. Unfortunately when we got there at about 6:45, they were out of oysters. We were disappointed but went with the Olives to Share which were very good. I got a wine flight and my boyfriend got the Mr Mule. I loved my flight and he loved his mule. We decided to split the lobster Mac and cheese and the Cajun tiger shrimp. Probably the best lobster Mac we've ever had. Tons of lobster, perfect pasta, and tasty cheese sauce. The shrimp was unbelievable. Perfectly Cajun shrimp with a cheesy, chorizo, delicious polenta. The server was great. So friendly and clearly enjoyed her job. So you may be wondering why only 4 stars. It comes down to atmosphere. To me it felt cold and industrial. I would have liked a warmer atmosphere both aesthetically and physically. Every time that door opened a cold draft swept down the middle of the dining area. I will definitely go to Flight West again. Great food! Immediately when we walked in we we're greeted by the waitress, the environment was nice. The restaurant was small, but the food was delicious. I got there flat bread which had arugula, feta, olives, and artichokes. My boyfriend got the burger which was amazing too! I got the strawberry julep drink that I was not a huge fan of at all.
