When I was going through the multitude of restaurants participating in Denver Restaurant Week, I came across the menu for Flights Wine and Coffee. It seemed like the perfect venue to get together with a group of my close friends and family after reading reviews and the description of their 52.80 menu. However, I was sadly disappointed for many reasons. First of all the place could barely accommodate my group of 5 as we waited close to 30 minutes for our table to become available (we were on time for my 7:30pm reservation) and were seated at a kitchen table with fold out chairs on a slanted floor. (Bright side: it was a good obliques work out!) While the owners were genuinely helpful, the quality of their food spoke louder than the service. I was disappointed to receive (and pay for) an oscar meyer version of the so-called tapas. The "caprese salad" was disapointing with only 2 tomato slices which was a stark contrast in portion size to the "warm brie wedge". So naturally our table had the conversation on portion size but it wasn't like the warm brie plate was any better unless you were appealing to a three year old. The plate was filled with a melted brie wedge, baby carrots (purchased from the local King's eh?), snap peas, wheat thin crackers (hey! I have the same ones at home too!) and apple slices. Nothing too fancy though, can't clue the guests that you're teenage sons are running the kitchen (at least that's what it looked like from my view directly in front of the kitchen doorway). Next course on the menu was the option of the "Chef's Carving Plate" or the "Antipasti Plate". Being a larger group we ordered both. Again, the plates served mimicked something that Oscar Meyer would serve hoping to look comparable to the fancy wines but sadly it was not. Granted we weren't served the little round meats (although I wouldn't have been surprised at this point), the "carved meat" and "artisan cheese" looked like something ordered out of the neighborhood deli (nothing says artisan like mini slices of havarti!!). Also, no olives were on the antipasti plate (perhaps the local deli was out of them) and the assortment of meats, cheeses, baby carrots, and flat bread were all cut up and arranged similar to a plate made for a preschooler. Last but not least was dessert. While we felt highly decieved by the description of the menu presented on denver.org for DRW, dessert was not included as we thought. However, considering we were still hungry (and hey can it really get any worse?), we decided to order two desserts; creme brulee and the salted carmel cream puff. **sigh** it does get worse. I probably would have kept my thoughts to myself about this place had it not been for the catastrophic dessert that was served. After that, there was no way I was going to let another unsuspecting patron experience what we did. The creme brulee tasted NOTHING like creme brulee should. The incorrect consistency was one thing, but the fact that it tasted like fish was unacceptable. **Note to the "chefs": when fridging your food items, delicate custards can take on the flavors of the neighboring fridged items.** I passed the plate around to everyone at my table and we all came to the same conclusion of the fish taste in the custard. The salted carmel on the other hand, the same kind I've picked up at Costco, wasn't too bad. While still frozen (next time pull them out a little earlier so they're fully defrosted), the fabulous swirl of carmel around the plate and halved brownie bites were enough to distract my tongue. Overall, the lack of quality and pride for the food being served is not something I would recommend. Considering this place goes for a comfy, homey, living room like feel, the food served is nothing I would ever serve my own house guests. In fact, I was embarrased that I had even invited my friends to this place! I think for the price you pay for the wine, the food and the ambiance, it is better sought else where!! read more

I went to Flights Wine & Coffee for the first time about a month ago. I had plans to go to Estes Park for a wine tasting but I live in Denver and the weather was supposed to get really bad so we cancelled at the last minute. I was hoping to find something comparable closer to home and that's how we found Flights Wine & Coffee. We arrived shortly after they opened and we did not have reservations. We were sat immediately and ordered a bottle of wine and the meat and cheese plate. Everything was really tasty. I had another glass of wine that the waiter recommended once we finished our bottle and it was amazing! It's a new favorite of mine. Everyone was very polite and the place is super cozy and inviting. It's definitely not cheap but in my opinion worth every penny. read more

Cozy quaint atmosphere that we really enjoyed. Tucked not too far into the mountains for an easy drive. Tried the smoke trout dip, roasted nuts with assorted olives, and the Italian flatbread. Everything was delicious. Not a wine drinker but my wife was very happy with their selection. Although more for snacking than for dinner, we still left full. Definitely coming back! read more

Excellent little wine bar/restaurant below red rocks. Outdoor seating with lots of trees to block the sun. Large selection of wines by the glass (or bottle) and very good food. The happy hour wines are even good. We especially liked the crab artichoke dip, warm brie, and peppers. Good live music. Also one of the best espresso's I've ever had (I'm an espresso snob). read more

Nice stop before any Red Rocks Amphitheater show. Enjoyed the wine flight as well as the cheese and meat board they serve. My only wish is that they served them with more bread to eat the meats and cheeses. I also noticed that the crackers that were served are the same ones I buy from Sam's Club. Need to take that up a notch to get a better review. read more

The food was alright, nothing to rave about. The service was also alright, a bit slow, but what can you expect from the people of Morrison. It's a shitty town filled with shitty people who eat shitty food. The best part was the water, which was also pretty damn shitty. read more

I'm so excited to have discovered Flights! My husband and I came for dinner tonight (a Wednesday) with our 1 1/2 year old in tow. Believe us, we'd have loved a date night at this spot, but that's just how the night worked out. The staff was so kind to our little guy, and treated us so well. They were attentive, warm and welcoming. We split the chicken pesto sandwich and the trout dip - both simply awesome and fresh, with lovely touches including sprouts, gourmet chips, and a real delicious side salad. Generous portions. Wines were great, with nice variety on their wine list - and several wine flights too (of course, as the cafe's name implies)! Our crème brulee for dessert was just perfect. This café is truly unique - from the décor, to the historical building, to all the little "spots" in the café to have a quiet romantic appetizer or cozy dinner with friends. This is a place I usually take out-of-towners. They have a wide range of wines by the glass and tasting options. Their flights and tastes are generous pours - worth the money! I also find their food, particularly the meats and cheeses, are paired great with the wines. The space is pretty small, so we always go during the week or on other off-evenings. read more

We visited Flights before a Red Rocks concert. I had the Celebration Flight and my husband chose 3 wines for his tasting. We also had the caprese salad and the antipasti plate. There was plenty of food for us and the wine pours were very generous. They also offered some gluten free crackers and have a GF crusty bread for the pananis. We sat outside next to the pond and enjoyed the beautiful backyard. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. We relaxed and totally enjoyed our time there. read more

So dissapointed with this place. Atmosphere is great and very homey but service is absolutely terrible. Staff is very friendly but no one quite knows what they are doing. Amazing, calm and Relaxing atmosphere! We were here on business! Got to hook in to their wifi and relax on their back patio and get a few emails finished! We had a flight of wine and their bread and dipping sauce. Waitress was very knowledgable and friendly! The wine was terrific! The food was even better! Wonderful experience all around! The restaurant is lovely and service was excellent. Food was ok. Plate presentation was very nice but very little food. I would not go back again. It was outrageously expensive!! We were here with a group of people and have never had such bad service in my life. It took them over an hour to bring our food (which were appetizers) and we had to keep asking and the wine orders took quite awhile, too. Then they brought one big check (rather than separate) and had forgotten to put the 18% gratuity on, thank goodness, as I can assure you I would have absolutely not paid for that. I will not be going back to this venue and hopefully the one in Arvada has better service. read more

Flights is a lovely venue, inside and out. The wine selection was fine as well. I did have a problem thinking I was at their advertised happy hour and it turned out not to be. So I did have some sticker shock for two glasses of wine. Perhaps checking on the price of anything there ahead of time would be a good idea. read more

Since we are all live so close to Morrison, my friends and I decided to try this place during restaurant week. Like another reviewer here, I was disappointed for many reasons. We had high hopes to begin with, but they faded rather quickly, almost as quickly as our server faded from view. In the beginning the service was fantastic! The server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, and we enjoyed hearing about the food choices. The starters were fairly good, although the size of the Caprese salad was laughable. We chose the Crostini ($4 more - REALLY?) and carving plate options, and all I can say is, while the food was ok, it wasn't worth the price. The red flight was decent, although all of us agreed the first wine was just - meh. Immediately after our food was delivered, our server completely disappeared, only to reappear long after our food and wine flights were gone. Then he took our plates and rattled of dessert options, only to disappear again. We were all confused by the 5280 menu at the restaurant, which stated that dessert could be purchased for an additional cost, since the menu posted on the Denver Restaurant Week site clearly indicated that dessert was included, but we let it go. And we waited for our check. And we waited. And waited... After about twenty-five minutes I had to track down someone else to get it. We certainly won't be going back and really wish we had chosen someplace else! read more

Drove out from Denver to enjoy a glass of Prosecco at this cozy joint. We arrived at 10:40pm and found that it was closed. Both online and on the illuminated sign in front of the winecafe it showed closing time is 11pm this time of year. We were confused, so we knocked on the door. The owner, Marsha, came to the door and explained they had closed early because it was slow, and they hadn't had any business the previous hour and a half. We asked if it would be possible to have a quick glass before we headed on to stargaze in the mountains. Marsha hesitantly responded with a "ok but it has to be quick". We were hustled in, given limited attention and when it got to 10:55 Marsha hovered over our table, not saying anything, but blankly looking at us as she waited for payment. At this time 2 police officers came in to check on a lock that Marsha said she had noticed was left undone on previous check. She explained nothing was stolen, but she had just noticed it was unlocked when she arrived earlier. I said that maybe someone had just forgot to lock it up, she responded with a paranoid look on her face, weird. Things got more awkward as the owner stood behind the bar looking at us and the police blankly as the police mentioned how cozy a place it was in an attempt to break the eery silence. We couldn't take it anymore. Paid for the bill and even gave a standard tip. The owner ushered us out and asked us to come back some time. Even though the bar is one of the quaintest and coziest I've yet experienced, it's just too bizarre in there. read more
