This is a really lovely owner operated eatery that we discovered after hiking the Red Rocks trails. Nestled in a cozy 1870's cottage its got comfy seating, a nice outside patio and the food is surprisingly good. The artichoke hearts sauteed with pesto, feta and pancetta chips were particularly yummy as was the charcuterie board and the smoked trout spread with onion jam. Last night we treated ourselves to Flights Wine Cafe Valentine's Day Couple's Dinner. It was fabulous. We asked for meat substitute & got Spinach Ravioli with Asparagus & walnuts. The rest of the meal was Stuffed Peppadew Peppers, Stuffed Mushrooms, Artichoke & Black Olive Spinach Salad, Rosemary garlic potatoes, Ciabatta Bread, glasses of chocolate-rimmed champagne. I love it here! The wine selection is broad and expands wine drinkers' palates to beyond California. Think Argentina, Spain, New Zealand, plus gimmes France and Italy. It's truly an intersection of international wines. White Pinot Noir, who knew? The staff keeps things lively, and the outdoor setting is hands-down the best in Arvada. But the clincher? The food!! The flatbreads, almonds, roasted red peppers, pickled deviled eggs, cheese/charcuterie boards, desserts (Do. Not. Skip. Dessert) and more feel like they've been chosen to go specifically with the wines. Anything off the food menu pairs beautifully with any of the wines. An evening here may not be inexpensive, but it's worth every penny. My husband likes it, and my mom and besties are new fans. read more

We popped in here on the way home last night and wow how fantastic it was. Tons of wine on the list! (They do have beer too). We ordered two appetizers/shareables thinking they would be small and wow was there alot of food. And really good food at that! Try the smoked trout dip, lots of it and fantastic and the artichoke hearts dish was amazing. Super ambiance. The place is very small on the inside, but can accommodate several people. Had high hopes for this place. The server and owner were super rude. We ordered a few flights and one of the wines was undrinkable by everyone in our party. We told the server and he said oh well and took our full glasses of wine. The owner then came over and said that the wine was their most popular, and we said well it tastes horrible, and she said well maybe it was a bad bottle. She didn't replace our glasses or even deduct the price of the wine. That could have been handled so much better. Then the server gave us our check and said "thanks for wasting my time tonight," even though we spent almost $300. Won't be returning there. The food was good though that's why I'm giving it 2 stars. read more

I want to love this place. The atmosphere is amazing and the concept is good but the customer service is beyond disappointing. I feel it is possible that we came on an "off night" however customer service to me, should be transparent on the good days and bad. My friend had to wait for me briefly and they asked her to move from the table THEY sat her at to an unbussed table. It was never actually cleaned off for us in the end... We then ordered some small plates. Two of our three plates came. She said the next one was on its way. It never came. We tried to get our server's attention but she never even came to check on us. So my friend went into the house and she said "oh yeah, it's been sitting back there...". She came back unapologetically and without any care or concern. In most establishments, waiting that long typically means it's taken off the bill or some sort of way to rectify the situation. In fact, I don't know many establishments (even the less than great places I've been to) would do something to redeem the situation. Nothing. Nothing was done and I'm pretty disappointed. In the end, the food wasn't even that good. And the service continued to suck...or actually was non existent (until of course it was time for the bill). I noticed everyone around us was looking for some actual service as well. I have a lot of respect for the industry especially as someone who has been a part of it. This fabulous wine cafe is so cozy and makes you feel right in the backyard of your parents house. The customer service was excellent the waitress did not know it was our first time dining, and she explained everything so well. The happy hour South African Red Wine was very good.. as well as there food. I had the special flatbread of the day which is truffle mushroom and we also ordered the cheese platter as well as hummus platter. It's a perfect venue for a girls night out or even date night with your loved one. The place is very welcoming and I absolutely loved everything about it.. being a local of Morison now it's nice to know I can come here to relax have a nice glass of great wine and at the same time enjoy amazing tapas. We had a girls night out last night, 8/22/20 at Flights with this being our 2nd visit to this wine cafe. We learned the first time to sit further away from the entertainment as we could hear each other talk. So, we sat by the side door thinking it was far enough away to visit, it was not. The entertainment was so loud. We noticed there were alot more tables than when we visited in June that did not look like they were 6 ft apart. The service was soooo slow, it took almost 2 hours to get our food. It was slow in June as well. The server indicated they were understaffed and the kitchen had lost some tickets. Why would you have more tables when you are understaffed we asked? The server never came back to check in on us, let us know the status of our order or offer another drink. I visited Flights Wine Cafe in Arvada back in August, (a little late with the review.) The service was horrible. The place was empty and our table was the only one filling up. The girl/lady that was serving us was something to be desired. It took over 45 minutes for us to receive our first glass of wine. When one of our friends asked "why it was taking so long," we were met with a very snappy/rude comment that they were "short-staffed and that's just the way it was going to be until someone else came into work." I have not been back since, nor do I plan on going back. Others in my group felt the same way. read more

I don't write many reviews, but we really enjoyed our evening at Flights. I was looking for a nice leisurely evening to unwind from a stressful week at work. Flights was just what the doctor ordered. Situated in cozy little cottage located in scenic downtown Morrison. Although simple, the small plates were all well executed. The toasted artichoke boat (artichoke hearts with oil, feta, and red peppers) was particularly good. I am not a wine expert but the selection was good and our glasses tasty. And the Donna Frida Creamy Limoncello made for a great dessert. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the folk duo completed the ambiance. We will definitely be back. read more

Left one of the smallest tips I've ever done. Food was good but the service was a joke. I would have left a more reasonable tip if we could of gotten a waiter to pick up our bill. It seemed as if they sort of played zone for the wait staff without having a specific person. Thankfully had enough cash to be able to leave without needing to wait to have a card processed. What a shame! This place is secluded and private. It has a fabulous patio with comfortable and well-spaced seating. That's about where the positives end. We walked in early evening (6:15) and were about the fifth table on the patio. The interior was completely empty, but, even so, service was painfully slow. We ran out of wine for about 15 minutes, just after our entrees were dropped on the table. You would think a server would notice and check back. In fact, there were two servers on staff at the time (plus a hostess and food runner), so there's no excuse. I had to go inside to get someone's attention. The table next to us was equally disgruntled. After they were sat by a hostess, they sat for quite a while, only to be told (when they were finally greeted by their server) that the kitchen closes is 5 minutes so if they want food they should order right away (their server then promptly changed the "open" sign to "close", around 645 PM, when she might have been focusing on the other tables on the patio?)... Decent wine selection, but wildly overpriced for what it is. The staff didn't seem very knowledgable on wine, and the glassware was atrocious. Prices run high. The food was decent, but, again, exorbitantly priced. For a meager meat and cheese plate, I don't want to spend 17 dollars when everything is recognizable at the grocery store. I can spoon my own watery artichoke hearts out of a can. I would recommend trying another place before your next concert. I will not return. read more

I enjoyed this place so much I went back the next day. The outdoor seating area was lovely and comfortable. The trolley passes right by there (not loud) adding to the quaintness. Both meals were fresh and delicious. The first day I had a wine flight and the second time I just ordered my favorite wine from the day before. We had to move inside when it started pouring rain and it was stuffy in the small building. This is a place to go if you want to be out in the fresh air. On day 2 it didn't rain but there was a chilly breeze and the manager said she had blankets if I found it too cold. I was fine but that was a thoughtful touch. read more

First visit, perfection, fun, great service. We had the extreme pleasure of having the owner's son as our server, and he was beyond expectation. Second visit, brought family - excited to show a cute, remote find. Terrible storm, all the power went out. You can tell a lot about leaders when they are faced with adversity. Sadly, the owners served their friends first, had terrible communication with seating, orders (we could order food, but couldn't, then could, then wait let me check, nope, yes, wait, hold on, did you order something?) Some people came in, waited forever, not a drop of attention given to them, then just gave up and left. This happened 3 times we saw (as we were sipping our wine). Very frazzled. They did finally end up serving everyone a free shot of creamy limoncello (starting with their friends). Seems like you'd try to take care of your new patrons first to encourage their return. Your friends will come back. So first review was a full, fat 5 stars. But second review might have been 2. Had our last experience been our first, we wouldn't return. read more

Absolutely incredible. If you're looking for a fantastic Wine experience, Flights is the place for you. Slow pace, never rushed and very enjoyable. All three of us ordered a different Flight and Donn was very knowledgeable with all of the wines. Food fit in perfectly with the wine choices. This establishment has the advantage of some pleasant ambiance (quaint scenery in Olde' Town Arvada) but it misses. The staff is just not a seasoned restaurant and wine crew. They seem too uncomfortable with a basic level of wine knowledge needed to create an interpersonal decorum of authenticity. This is evidenced by the fact that they saw no issue with serving an expensive wine at room temperature, mind you it was 95 degrees the evening I visited. The wine was poured HOT. I questioned why - and received an answer that suggested that it should not be a concern but it is even to the most novice partaker of good wine. Additionally, an appetizer consisting of 5 shrimp for $15 is taking liberties with good will. read more

I found them to be a bit pricey, but it was a cute little spot for a date night. Now in Olde Town Arvada, lovely quaint and quiet spot just off the main drag there. The wine was excellent, the service was superb and atmosphere subdued and relaxing. I am getting tired of going to dinner in Olde Town and having to scream at my spouse over the loud background noise and/or bands. Not at Flights though. I cannot wait until the weather improves to try out the patio. I actually rate it about 4.5 and only because I felt the price point for my Cuban sandwich was a bit high. We were excited when a second Flights opened in Arvada, but I have to say I wasn't wowed after our first visit. The wine flights aren't cheap - most are $16, which seems really high to me. Maybe I'm naive, but for Arvada this feels like a lot. My single glass was $10 - also pricey I feel. We ordered the antipasto platter, which was fine - 2 cheese, 2 meats, crostini and olives. We ran out of crostini before we'd eaten all the cheese and meat, but our waiter brought out some more (and didn't charge us extra - whew!). My problem was more with the hummus plate we also ordered. The hummus was still frozen in the middle. I didn't even know you could freeze hummus! But apparently you can - or at least Flights does. I was kind of grossed out by that, so we didn't finish it all. Other than being REALLY cold it tasted OK. The paninis sounded good, and so did the coffee menu, so I'd like to go back for those two items, but I will stay away from the hummus and the wine. read more

When I was going through the multitude of restaurants participating in Denver Restaurant Week, I came across the menu for Flights Wine and Coffee. It seemed like the perfect venue to get together with a group of my close friends and family after reading reviews and the description of their 52.80 menu. However, I was sadly disappointed for many reasons. First of all the place could barely accommodate my group of 5 as we waited close to 30 minutes for our table to become available (we were on time for my 7:30pm reservation) and were seated at a kitchen table with fold out chairs on a slanted floor. (Bright side: it was a good obliques work out!) While the owners were genuinely helpful, the quality of their food spoke louder than the service. I was disappointed to receive (and pay for) an oscar meyer version of the so-called tapas. The "caprese salad" was disapointing with only 2 tomato slices which was a stark contrast in portion size to the "warm brie wedge". So naturally our table had the conversation on portion size but it wasn't like the warm brie plate was any better unless you were appealing to a three year old. The plate was filled with a melted brie wedge, baby carrots (purchased from the local King's eh?), snap peas, wheat thin crackers (hey! I have the same ones at home too!) and apple slices. Nothing too fancy though, can't clue the guests that you're teenage sons are running the kitchen (at least that's what it looked like from my view directly in front of the kitchen doorway). Next course on the menu was the option of the "Chef's Carving Plate" or the "Antipasti Plate". Being a larger group we ordered both. Again, the plates served mimicked something that Oscar Meyer would serve hoping to look comparable to the fancy wines but sadly it was not. Granted we weren't served the little round meats (although I wouldn't have been surprised at this point), the "carved meat" and "artisan cheese" looked like something ordered out of the neighborhood deli (nothing says artisan like mini slices of havarti!!). Also, no olives were on the antipasti plate (perhaps the local deli was out of them) and the assortment of meats, cheeses, baby carrots, and flat bread were all cut up and arranged similar to a plate made for a preschooler. Last but not least was dessert. While we felt highly decieved by the description of the menu presented on denver.org for DRW, dessert was not included as we thought. However, considering we were still hungry (and hey can it really get any worse?), we decided to order two desserts; creme brulee and the salted carmel cream puff. **sigh** it does get worse. I probably would have kept my thoughts to myself about this place had it not been for the catastrophic dessert that was served. After that, there was no way I was going to let another unsuspecting patron experience what we did. The creme brulee tasted NOTHING like creme brulee should. The incorrect consistency was one thing, but the fact that it tasted like fish was unacceptable. **Note to the "chefs": when fridging your food items, delicate custards can take on the flavors of the neighboring fridged items.** I passed the plate around to everyone at my table and we all came to the same conclusion of the fish taste in the custard. The salted carmel on the other hand, the same kind I've picked up at Costco, wasn't too bad. While still frozen (next time pull them out a little earlier so they're fully defrosted), the fabulous swirl of carmel around the plate and halved brownie bites were enough to distract my tongue. Overall, the lack of quality and pride for the food being served is not something I would recommend. Considering this place goes for a comfy, homey, living room like feel, the food served is nothing I would ever serve my own house guests. In fact, I was embarrased that I had even invited my friends to this place! I think for the price you pay for the wine, the food and the ambiance, it is better sought else where!! read more

I went to Flights Wine & Coffee for the first time about a month ago. I had plans to go to Estes Park for a wine tasting but I live in Denver and the weather was supposed to get really bad so we cancelled at the last minute. I was hoping to find something comparable closer to home and that's how we found Flights Wine & Coffee. We arrived shortly after they opened and we did not have reservations. We were sat immediately and ordered a bottle of wine and the meat and cheese plate. Everything was really tasty. I had another glass of wine that the waiter recommended once we finished our bottle and it was amazing! It's a new favorite of mine. Everyone was very polite and the place is super cozy and inviting. It's definitely not cheap but in my opinion worth every penny. read more
